- Here is a video of 3x 250 GTO during the start of Tour Auto 2012 editon at Le Grand Palais in Paris. The grey left for third (around 6:30 am) while the red and blue left for truck around 12.00am !
The sound of this 3 cars is just amazing, there is only 39 GTO in the world !!

In the days when four exhausts meant only one thing - an honest 12 cylinders and a Ferrari. Now, even 4-cylinder diesels can have four pipes. Everybody lies.
Have you even noticed that some of the new cars actually have 2 pipes but they have like these 4 short parts that are built in the bumper so when you look very closely you see one round circle shape behind the two other ones.
yeah....it's all come down to pretentious junk.
I saw a red Ferrari 250 GTO in Linz, Austria, this morning, driving across the bridge to Hauptplatz (main town square), and only the 2nd time I ever saw one. Replica or not it looked quite spectacular and provocative amongst the tidy and upright Germanic rabble of everyday Mercedes, Audis and even Porsches.

The Ferrari's alone cost more than the mall they were inside. At about $20-30million each about $100 million dollars for those works of art.. i bet the guy driving the truck that carried them was scared shitless.

really depends, that particular 250gto was fully original and completely mint condition, so anything less than that is worth less.

Because they are collectors not drivers. They won't even drive it home, they have to put it on a transport truck home. If I had the kind of money to own one I would drive it everywhere. While that is risky I think the reward of rolling art is worth the risk.

Why the hell are they using a transporter?? These are GT cars designed for trans-continental racing - why would you NOT drive it??!
Why would you not drive it on the public roads? Maybe because there are only 39 GTOs in existence, and they’re worth a LOT of money. In October 2013, the auction record was set by a GTO selling for $52 million (the most expensive car ever sold). Maybe you want to run that by your car insurance company before you put plates on it?
I'd still drive mine regardless of cost. If you can afford one, you can afford to fix them! Many are not fully original now, from their racing days (often are still raced historically today registered in UK as APB1 and 250GTO - Nick Mason, Pinks Floyd's car being just 2 examples). As an FOC member, there was a big article covered in "Ferrari" magazine where 20 GTOs did a special anniversary tour in France - on the road. And yes, one did come a cropper on the Arc De Triumph roundabout -oops! Don't forget these were built for racing ON THE ROAD (when you still could!)

You can't drive a W196 on the road. The 250GTO has always been road legal. And anyway, it's only a Mercedes. Pretty sure the Ferraris have gone past the £20m mark, certainly as a valuation, if not auction sale price. They do exchange hands privately for undisclosed sums.

the resonance from aluminium body and that old v12 that sometimes misfires also probably poor exhaust system design ,it what makes that meaty old Ferrari sound ,nothing sounds as good as this one ,there are louder ones and more revving but not as classic as this one

Actually.. Not really... This particular model has seen an increase in price of 15% year on.. Now 30%..I agree, the block who bought one for 52 million.. Is a bit over the top.. But in these crisis time, the wealthy want to diversify their money.. So some models of cars are seen as an investment. A shame for the driver enthousiast..
Atleast good amount of them are still driven on track.
