When I watch concert footage of groups like 10cc, The Bee Gees, Ambrosia, and Toto, I am always blown away about how awesome they sound live! These days, everything is doctored up in studios so you don't know what's what. I miss the days when people actually had to have talent to be in showbiz, and music was about heart and soul instead of marketing.
ebonyavengerskid Your comment makes so much sense. I totally agree. Today, it's all autotune. No quality. Real talent like this is rare nowadays. Maybe there are real talented artist out there waiting to be discovered.
Ebonyavengerskid, I totally agree! I never liked live music until I've been watching 70's artists a lot on TH-cam. Linda Ronstadt, Andrew Gold, Queen, and many others sound just as good live, if not better!
Agreed, but if you want to hear someone today, who is in any league, see Alison Kraus and Union Station. I've seen so many people over the years, and I actually saw them with a friend who had an extra ticket back in 1995. I'm so glad I attended. Before then, I had no idea who they were and to this day, no one AND I MEAN NO ONE, can touch them live. I've seen Toto, the Bee Gees, 10cc, Ronstadt, Queen, and many others and I still say, if forced to pick one, AKUS will always win out. No one should be as good as they are in syncing their voices, as well as their instrumentation. Unbelievable talents. There's a reason Kraus as been honored with more Grammy awards than anyone. Her peers know just how great she is. Child prodigy at 14, signed with Rounder records at that age and can hold her own on the fiddle with anyone. I didn't even like bluegrass until hearing them, and Kraus can sing anything, as she's proven over the years. But back to the stars of this post, 10cc. Clearly, one of the most creative bands ever! Ahead of their time. Probably would have gotten more notice had there not been a Beatles.
That is one of the stupidest plugs i've ever seen in a thread, we get it, you're a massive fanboy of Alison Kruas, but calling her the best live act ever is pretty silly, there have been 1000's of bands over the years (insert any classic era rock band) who have far superior musicianship than Alison Kraus and band, you must not get out much..
One of the _most_ underrated bands of all time. Their harmonies and wordplay is nothing short of genius. Listen to some of their Albums and then count up how many hits they've had, guarantee you'll be surprised. Many thanks imagine1960 for this great copy.
March 1977 - the greatest month in popular music radio! Check out the charts for yourself - the mix of music and talent was huge. The biggest albums from 1976 were still yielding singles, and some of the best albums of the '70s were just coming out. 10cc, Eagles, PMaca&Wings, Jimmy Buffett, Glen Campbell, Kansas, Boston, FleetwoodMac, Hall&Oates, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger, Kiss, MMann's EarthBand, AtlantaRhythmSection, StevieWonder, ELO, Queen, Heart, SteveMillerBand, GeorgeHarrison, Foreigner, MarshallTuckerBand, AlStewart, ClimaxBluesBand - even KennyNolan, RoseRoyce, LeoSayer, Abba, Bread, BurtonCummings, Captain & Tennille, CrystalGayle, MaryMacGregor, & DavidSoul ! Whew - that was music !!
They loved harmonizing, and they did so beautifully. There was something of the barbershop quartet within the souls of these young blokes, back in the day.
I was chatting with a friend of mine tonight and I said "the things we do for love" and this song automatically started playing in my head. I swear I hadn't given it to thoughts in probably 20 years, I forgot how much I enjoyed it though and it's still a catchy little tune :-)
Had a wedding Saturday for a middle aged couple, their 40 family members over 50, and exactly 5 family members under 30. On a wild hunch, I pulled this one out for the first time ever and it was a dancefloor hit. You just never know!
I was growing up with all these great artists and they had talent there's only a few groups established in the last couple of decades that come to mind that could measure up to the 10ccs and the ELOs of the past to many to list music will never be the same for me !!! Glad we still have them to listen to takes back to better times
Vince Monteneri I love ELO and saw them in 1980 in Pittsburgh PA. They were fabulous. This song has an ELO sound and feel to it. I could easily picture Jeff Lynn playing the lead and singing.
Deceptive Bends was (and still is) one of a favorite albums growing up... Yes on vinyl. Fantastic musicians, fantastic music, and fantastic memories to go along with it all..
Love Love this song and the band 10cc back then when the the song and the band was new and fresh when i was 14 years old and now at the age 49 the song and the band is awesome the song is still a good awesome song.
Heard this on the Robert elks show yesterday on bbc London and I just had to listen again. Thought at first it was the Beatles, but I was wrong. Great harmony and musicianship! Well done guys!!
Na adolescência era apaixonada pelo Erick. Confesso que qdo o vejo, até hoje sinto uma coisa. Ele é lindo, toca e canta muito, além de parecer tímido com esse olhar sensual. Enfim, uma delícia 😍
Especially the guitar solo. Often they feel they have to improvise something brilliant and miss out on what was a very distinctive solo and essential part of the song.
My favourite band and even tho I was in the US record business most of the 70s I had never seen them perform until TH-cam. And this is the best one I've seen! Thanks so much!!
Hell yeah 😎👍✌️ good old tune I was a young boy when I had a crush on my sister's girlfriend and would hear that song 😊 awesome group and cool 😎👍 songs by tencc wtg

Despite what anybody might say, Mr Bungle and Mike Patton wouldn't of happened without 10cc especially from the How Dare You album!! Yes I've seen ToTo before two years ago in Henderson nv just outside of Vegas and they were excellent!

All these comments are excellent. Come at it from different angles and form a perfect symmetry. Like 10cc

OK, I forgot to list Barbra Streisand.
That's when I graduated high school. Great time for music and just plain fun.
Yaaasss! It was a thrilling wonderful time for our ears, hearts, and minds.
@@pearlschoice1988 Thanks for reminding me.
Going back through my list, how could I have forgotten Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, and Peter Frampton?!
It's 2021....Let's count the things we do for love...we might feel better.
Yeah
40 years later, and this song is still wonderful.
I hear this song on the radio a lot. The harmonies are even better live
They loved harmonizing, and they did so beautifully. There was something of the barbershop quartet within the souls of these young blokes, back in the day.
Impeccable performance of an impeccably crafted song.
Gouldman is one the most solid and tasteful bassist ever. I definitely borrowed elements of his style into my playing.
What a beautiful voice!
What a charming man he is!
I adore ERIC ever.
This song gets better every time I hear it, almost a master piece
Well, that's probably the best live performance of a song, in the history of live performances. At least that's the way i see it :)
One of my favorite songs from the '70s.
I was chatting with a friend of mine tonight and I said "the things we do for love" and this song automatically started playing in my head. I swear I hadn't given it to thoughts in probably 20 years, I forgot how much I enjoyed it though and it's still a catchy little tune :-)
Patrick McCLeary Funny how that works Ah
Eric Stewart , wow best singer in rock, ever !
Only cos i sound like him !
Their best song, along with "I'm Not In Love". Released on December 25, 1976, reaching # 5 on April 16, 1977. What a feelgood song!
Had a wedding Saturday for a middle aged couple, their 40 family members over 50, and exactly 5 family members under 30. On a wild hunch, I pulled this one out for the first time ever and it was a dancefloor hit. You just never know!
10cc ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT BAND My favourite song is " I'm not in love "
I listened to these guys when I was a kid. Pushing 50 and have rediscovered them, thanks to TH-cam.
I was growing up with all these great artists and they had talent there's only a few groups established in the last couple of decades that come to mind that could measure up to the 10ccs and the ELOs of the past to many to list music will never be the same for me !!! The singer could sing a phone book and make it sound excellent
"Like walking in the rain and the snow when there's nowhere to go."
Beautiful key modulations.
Love Love this song and the band 10cc back then when the the song and the band was new and fresh when i was 14 years old and now at the age 49 the song and the band is awesome the song is still a good awesome song.
Wouldn't you have been about 9 years old, not 14...?
These guys have beautiful harmonies, truly great!
me gustan demasiado las presentaciones en vivo de esta gloriosa agrupación. ¿Algún latinoamericano presente? saludos, desde Cartagena - Colombia.
Awesome song from 10cc...
Heard this on the Robert elks show yesterday on bbc London and I just had to listen again. Thought at first it was the Beatles, but I was wrong. Great harmony and musicianship! Well done guys!!
Eric Stewart worked with Paul McCartney in the 1980s.

Na adolescência era apaixonada pelo Erick. Confesso que qdo o vejo, até hoje sinto uma coisa. Ele é lindo, toca e canta muito, além de parecer tímido com esse olhar sensual. Enfim, uma delícia 😍

Wow. Those harmonies blow me away. Just outstanding.
You said it all. They were sheer genius.

Great tune
Great song then, great song now. Well written and definitely well played.
Always saw these guys when they came to Glasgow. They put on a fabulous show. A great group."I don't like Glasgow, I love it." Love you all!!

I love songs from these days... Simple instrument playings, with sweet melody and touching lyrics... :)
Well done live rendition. Wildy pleased to see how they pulled this off!
Born in 1968.. My sisters would be rocking to all types of good music , on the weekends.. Memories!
Excelent group, song and the message The things we do for love. That's true.
get in my time machine.. 70's here we come
Brilliant song and performed better than I would have expected. They were very respectful of the original recording.
Especially the guitar solo. Often they feel they have to improvise something brilliant and miss out on what was a very distinctive solo and essential part of the song.
Memories, memories. I bought this in early 76.
I love this song, heard it on the radio and had to google it. :)
Absolutely marvellous. I'm 68 and I love this!!!
What does being 68 have to do with liking this song?
+Amy Beth You're only about 8 months late with that comment. Here's a refresher - "Absolutely marvellous. I'm 69 and I love this!!!"
So...what does your age have to do with liking this song?
Well some people of the older generation hate this sort of music.
aka
allot of people over 60
ploop goo eh ..... says it all......!!
Great band. Great song.
Saw them live in 1982; great show!
This is a great love song in fact I saw my parents dance and sing this song to each other the last time it played on the radio.

So good. I love them. 😍
This song made my day. Thanks!
Thanks for the music 10cc👍.
they were great live- saw them at Knebworth '76 on the Stones/Skynyrd lineup
Thomas Bottom
Wow. What a concert! You are a very lucky person.. :-)
Yes Thomas I was at that concert,I thought they were better than all the band's on that day.
It had an oldies sound even though it was a contemporary song. That’s what made this song so appealing.
Love this band ♡
Hell yeah 😎👍✌️ good old tune I was a young boy when I had a crush on my sister's girlfriend and would hear that song 😊 awesome group and cool 😎👍 songs by tencc wtg
this is a superb song!

Mike Drennan Hell yeah! California is such a homage to 10cc.

Love The Oldies But Goodies
Thanks for your videos, my favourite band , great
Ahhh, yes...the things we do for love!!!
Great song and talent. Excellent non-studio ending which took a bit of skill. Playing was tight and reflects the maturity in their musicianship.
Happy Birthday, Graham Gouldman 70, Today
в этом году уже 73 года
great group
Thanks. I was thinking of this one the other day and didn't remember who performed it. Great song.
eric stewart. .....musical genius....very under rated...was with the mindbenders
Hahaha, well. Whatever it is, I still love this song. I know it's way before my time, but it's, like you said, underrated. (:
