I'm 82 years old and I have loved this song since I first heard it many years ago. I can feel the words and music like no other song has ever made me feel. A true masterpiece,
ABSOLUTELY!! I’m 63 and was in high school around 1976 when this song came out and OMG … what an impression it made on me … I didn’t really understand the meaning of the lyrics so much as I wasn’t dating yet … but the haunting melody left an indelible mark in my memory banks and hasn’t left nearly five decades later … a MASTERPIECE as has been stated … simply BRILLIANT!!! 🤩👍🤩
Around 1976 in the dark early morning I drove down Bondi Road [Sydney] toward the beach. The stars were tingling, the light of a twinkling ship was out to sea. The roads were extremely quiet anf this song was playing. It was simply an awesome feeling which I have never forgot !!!
I was in eighth grade, and our teacher played the radio during our reading time. This song came on, and it blew my mind. I was useless the rest of the day. It's that special.
Interesting trivia. “Big boys don’t cry”was the voice of the studio manager’s secretary. They recruited her into the song. The haunting ambient sounds during the bridge was a child’s toy.
The summer of 1975. I had just graduated HS and was on my way to College. this song came out and completely captivated my summer. To this day, when I hear this song, I go back to that summer of 1975. And it still brings tears to my eyes.
tears of joy I hope. I get melancholic for a much simpler time in my life, when I hear this song too, but it only brings back good memories when mom was still around, young and vibrant, and I was just a happy-go-lucky kid. The funny thing is that back then I always felt bad for the singer; thinking he must have felt really sad to perform a song like this. It was also the same year I would hear Terry Jacks seasons in the sun on the radio all the time. I guess we were all still mourning Vietnam back then.
2024 anyone? Can you imagine this song is almost 50 yrs. Btw, there are many beautiful songs but not many live song is better than the studio version. This is one of those. Very majestic & heavenly fantastic❤❤❤❤
When this great song came out in 75, it hadsuch a different sound and aura to it that it captivated me and millions. I’m so glad to have lived the 70’s. What a GREAT time ❤
When this was a hit I was a 20 yr old United States Marine on Okinawa. I had just received the dreaded "Dear John Letter" from my cute girlfriend back home in the States. I was heart broken.... that was 1975. Im 67 yrs old I still remember the pain. But, I've been happily married 41 yrs now.
These songs will never come again. This era of song writing and musicianship was refined through gigs and living the hard life of being a band and traveling the road. Now days, kids make songs from their bedroom with mixing console and auto-tune. What you are hearing is what you get when you pay the price. These guys sound live just like you heard it on the radio in the 70's. What a wonderful song and memories of days gone by.
There's a very good documentary about 10CC on TH-cam. It's said that it took 3 weeks to get right and record the backing vocal for this song. A very talented band.

Listening 2 Jan 25, here in Charleston, West Virginia. I was a 20 yr old United States Marine on Okinawa, when this song was a hit. But I married the cutest lady in the world on 21 March 1981... and we are still married and in LOVE ❤️
Yeah. Sorta. But I was 19 when this song came out and blew everyone away. Good memories, but I'm much happier and wiser than the kid I was in those years. Man did I do some stupid stuff.
There is a great video on TH-cam that explains in detail how 10cc created this song. They were really ingenious on how they came up with creating and producing this fantastic tune.
Me, too. A lot of songs from our music brings my tears. It’s so beautiful, it is bittersweet, so much of our lives are in this song, and, for me, many more. 😢❤😊
i miss the 70s. For those who never had to fight a war, we are like the Veterans of the simple times. Keep these beautiful years alive. Anybody born after the 90s missed out on the nostalgia.

I'm 42 , I believe that this song was made the year I was born am I right? I say this is because years later it's still a beautiful song it's makes me cry.
I can remember write it in the car with my mother when I first heard this song, roughly about the year 1975. Every time I hear it it always brings by those memories when things were so simple. The Sun shined brighter, the food tasted better, and life was so much simpler. Hell, things are so now different than they were back in the seventies, you can no longer see Saturday morning cartoons.
I listen to this song now, and am transformed into the sixteen year-old me in the summer of 1975, crazy in love with an angel who saw me only as her friend. I never did get the girl, but the song has formed such a vivid, emotional impact in my heart and soul. Man how I miss youth and the music of the '70s
Was 14 when this song came out. Dropped in rank from 1st to 38. What does life holď for me. Always had a fear deep down. Pulled up my socks and sleeve and decided to work. Today at 62, beautiful wife, loving son, 7 houses in two countries. It is all a gift from GOD.

Sure....you are right
I lost my wife of 46 years and listening to this makes me cry for her.
So sad. Send you a hug. You lived something that not everyone does: Real and happy love.
I'm sorry for your loss honey
God bless!
Hope your ok, sorry you lost your wife. Hugs x
Me too we were together 49 years she was only 62 childhood sweetheart s copd smoking
Whoever the sound engineer is on this production, kudos! Perfect blend and balance of vocals and instruments.
I know right? The crisp of the acoustic guitar is so prominent and ripe....its amazing how you can hear all the instruments so clearly yet so individually.
I am 78 and still love this song! And my kids and grandkids love it too!
For anyone who fell in love and maybe had their heart broken along the way, this is the song that understands the feeling.
😢yes and it hurts and do much melancholy 😢
Actually this was written as a love song to his wife who he missed terribly because he had to tour so much.
It's painful!
I honestly remember the impact when it was released, and sitting here today 47 years later and still have the same feeling, it says everything about that song 🙂
Same .
Same…
I never realize how awesome the guitar cords were.
How time goes by. It feels like yesterday.
Same!! All these years later and it hits me!
Jestem chyba jedyną Polką, która teraz słucha i docenia tak wspaniałą muzykę. Jestem z tego dumna i szczęśliwa, że mogę słuchać tak pięknej, niepowtarzalnej muzyki! Jesteście cały czas wielcy i niepowtarzalni!!!

Who is listening in 2025?
Listening 2 Jan 25, here in Charleston, West Virginia. I was a 20 yr old United States Marine on Okinawa, when this song was a hit. I remember my cute girlfriend back in the States mailing me the Dreaded Dear John Letter. I was heartbroken. But I married the cutest lady in the world on 21 March 1981... and we are still married and in LOVE ❤️
Eu. Que saudade dessas músicas!
Here in South Africa, great old school music.
@doreenpalmer4225 It was a great song. Love to a 20 yr old again. Semper Fidelis
I am at 81, never will be bettered.
I never tire of this song. I'm 60 and remember falling in love with this when I was very young. Puts me in another place and time
Bennie, I'm 13 years older than you and I also love it. Gets me every time. Just a classic melody. I miss when they made good music

We, big Boys from 70's
are crying.
We wish 70's never end...
Yep, I'm in that club. Now I'm an old boy in the 2020's (not my eyes though)
My feelings exactly..
I was in my 20’s in the 70’s now I’m 70 in the 20’s.....
Are tears of the soul ..
Yeah. Sorta. But I was 19 when this song came out and blew everyone away. Good memories, but I'm much happier and wiser than the kid I was in those years. Man did I do some stupid stuff.
63 here! Great memories of this song, I never knew how they created those haunting sounds…
There is a great video on TH-cam that explains in detail how 10cc created this song. They were really ingenious on how they came up with creating and producing this fantastic tune.
Where have 44 years gone. One of my favorite songs of 1975
Tell me about it
Im 35 im saying always the same 😖
I’m listening now, March 2021. Never tire of this masterpiece. Explains my early love life! Married now 52 years and I love her more than life!
Wow
Sounds like a simple phase you guys are going through. Hope you get another 20+ years of the simple phase. Congrats, and keep loving each other 👍
Congratulations. Your marriage sounds like fine wine that matures with age where the best is yet to come. God bless!

Me, too. A lot of songs from our music brings my tears. It’s so beautiful, it is bittersweet, so much of our lives are in this song, and, for me, many more. 😢❤😊
If bees spilled it
Still and forever the most beautiful song ever written, performed, recorded and produced.
i miss the 70s. For those who never had to fight a war, we are like the Veterans of the simple times. Keep these beautiful years alive.
Anybody born after the 90s missed out on the nostalgia.
U mean they missed a good life great times
Ah they will have their own. Our parent's thought we'd miss out if we didn't like the stuff from the 30's and 40's. Remember?
There's nothing like going out to play and just being gone. The world was so big and the summers so long. Ah for those days of friendship and freedom.
Nostalgia, by definition, is something which is reflected on. Therefore anybody who hears this at any age at any time in the future will experience nostalgia.

One of the most haunting songs I have ever heard. A masterpiece.
When I first heard this song in the mid-1970's, I thought it was so eerie. So eerie, I kept listening to it.
This song ia a classic still listening oct 3/ 2024. 😊
I’ve never heard a live performance so perfect. What incredible talent. Perfect sound mixing. And, a timeless song.
absolutely true! the voices are incredible and the same as they were in those golden times ❤
True..brilliant..
A different lead singer doesnt seem to make much difference. I can't think of this guys name though.
@@rebahensley5323 so is this is a different lead singer?
@@lt7378 yes. Mick Wilson. I finally remembered. He stayed with the band for a few years but is no longer with them. He has a great voice but comes across as conceited in social media and interviews. Lol.
As a year old 59 man,i still love this song,in 2019,and i will in 2020
and beyond!!!!!
Takes me back to 1975!
They dont put the same effort into music these days.. this is better than the original
@@andrewfortescue1634 I agree. I have been comparing radio version with this one, for a week now and I like this . Both sound wonderful to my old ❤️ heart.
62 myself and I remember mid 60s songs like, For Your Love / Pamela, Pamela/ no milk today, Bus stop (Hollies) and more that were written by Graham gouldman.
I'm 59 too. This sounds as fresh as the first time it hit my heart.

2019. I still love this song. Beautiful.
I'm 42 , I believe that this song was made the year I was born am I right? I say this is because years later it's still a beautiful song it's makes me cry.
@Bear Creek hi! Thank you!
Cartoons were deem violent, but letting criminals roam the streets is acceptable!
i suspect there is a fortune in bringing back what we recall was a great time
I am 72 and still rock and party with this riff no one does this anymore shame
Im a Son of a Vietnam veteran, and blessed to grow up listening to the best music in my Generation.. Thanks Dad.... 💓.....
Thanks for the service.
I know what you mean. The sweet sadness of missing the good old days.
I think we have all been there
i hear ya, so much better times
How music and the human nature are the same all over...I feel the same as you all...it’s amazingly magical moment
Me too
My goodness!!! This song brings me back to a much simpler time. When you thought anything was possible….
This is so timeless!!!
Hello Eda how are you doing?
I am only 82 but always loved this and the sentiments which I recall from when I was young and foolish as opposed to old and foolish!
Молодец! Мне уже 67, но помню эту песню.Тоже всё в порядке. Дети, загородный участок. Толко один ужас Путин развязал страшную войну, Будь он проклят!
Get over yourself.
Preciosa sorpresa la que nos trae Utube al televisor del salón. Disfrutando de temas inolvidables, cuando la Música nos lleva a tiempos pasados y nos hace sentir que seguimos vivos.
I remember moving the record needle to listen to this over and over. Beautiful music, beautiful memories of wonderful days.
💖
Hi Diane, a lot easier to play repeat now but maybe not so engaging. Worth all the effort though for a song like this!!! Awesome voice and music!
That made me smile.....
What's a record needle? Is that REcord or reCord? jk 😀😀 I even remember putting a nickle on the hand to stop the record from skipping. Good days, good memories.
It is masterful how they layered the harmonies over the tracks to create that amazing sound.
I can never get tired of hearing this song... and I'm 55, so I was just 6 years old when it first played ❤❤❤
