Well there is some idea behind it. Imagine you are having a bad time and stressing yourself out over something (say you lost some money). Then imagine someone in your family dying. Would you still worry about money? What the exercise does is it brings your attention to your actual priority i.e. family. And then you also see them all good and alive, which is the best feeling ever.
They should have shown the whole thing. The girl who asked the question must have said that she was having a hard time. This man has got some good advice. Don't judge him by seeing some dudes reacting to no context clips.
i was on a week Gary Vee high one time and here are some points: - he brought his father's wine business online and grew it exponentially (impressive yes but it was already big to begin with) - he pride himself in being an early adapter marketer and keep referencing that he made a google ad campaign the first day it was available - he works mainly in marketing? and says that he works with big names but I don't really know whats notable in his portfolio - as pewds said, I stopped watching when I realized he can talk so much with saying so little. he has some good advice don't get me wrong but he talks like every end of a phrase should be a mic drop when he didn't really say anything special
that's usually every motivational speaker. nothing they ever say is new or interesting. HOWEVER, I think of them as hearing the right thing at the right time. everyone at different times of their life with be going through something different. sometimes hearing something from a stranger said in a particular way is what you needed. I hear the same shit they say from my friends and family. nothing special. and in my experience if everyone I know is telling me teh same thing, sometimes it takes that one special friend for it to really hit or stick. I think it's the same with motivational speakers. they aren't original and never will be, and they will be contradictory (I don't mind that. people in general are. you tend to know what you need in a specific situation so advice always changes) but they can be good to hear when you need them the most
He also made some early investments in facebook and some other startups which made him a lot money.. now he goes around shilling nfts and calling them the "next facebook"

Vee’s comments in that clip was to force oneself to have a mental exercise in walking through an existential-crisis and reevaluating your “why” for living life.

@@RobinXlone It is technically easier to monetize your videos now because the whole shtick with having to go through a shady agency like machinima is gone. but you're completely wrong there being less competition now. He said that, if you want to be happy and start building up your career or whatever, you should stop watching him and all those influencers. Trying to find someone all the time to reassure you with a way of income is what really keeps you away from growing it. He said the guy that he'll be always far from having passive income, if he keeps on buying courses for that crap. Like Jesus dude someone else can have a good idea you're not God.

The: „Just work for ten years, don't buy anything or have fun, and you'll become rich.“ is toxic and wrong on so many levels. 1.) It's a lovely recipe for emotional, psychological and physical burn-out, would love to see a person in that state, unable to function in any way whatsoever, get rich. 2.) Like Felix stated, just working hard doesn't guarantee you you will become rich. 3.) If you save up and don't have fun for ten years, do you think that once (if) you get rich, you suddenly won't have this mindset of: "I need to save up and I can't have fun"? You guessed it. 4.) Is it really worth it to suffer for ten years just to become rich and then (maybe) enjoy life? How long do you think just the money itself will keep you content/happy? 5.) What if you can't find a job or your job isn't making you too much money all these years, then what? His solution isn't a formula, it's just a terrible advice that's said so quickly that you barely have any time to question/analyse it, and so confidently (arrogantly, in my opinion) that it "just must be true". Man, just listening to this guy is so draining, and I feel sorry for his followers - getting brain-washed by his toxic advice and conspiracy theories...
Beyond toxic, it's also not true. Gary V loves to spin the narrative of "I got a job at a liquor store and worked 7 days a week for 10 years.", but what actually happened is that his dad handed over his wine business to him. When he was - might I add - 23 years of age and fresh out of college. He renamed it, turned it into a more luxury brand, branched out into online sells and started a online-centric marketing firm. That paints quite the different picture, doesn't it?
Him saying work for 10 years, isn't work your job for 10 years, it's work and grind on different avenues for a decade. So the whole what if you can't find a job(bullshit excuse), or you don't get paid enough is bullshit. Basically this specific advice is buckledown for a while and you'll likely see a difference.
You are not completly wrong it is true But i think he don't talk about jobs and this type of hardwork i don't really follow him blindly but i just listened to him to see his opinions and his mindset but i can't judge i am a little bit confused if he is just an idi*t who is speaking or a rich guy who i should listen to him and to his life lessons
I actually agree with that perspective. Work, earn some money, make sacrifices now for the future, especially if you have specific goals in mind. Wasting your money on things you don't actually need, isn't gonna help you get there. Learning sacrifice and a little bit of self-deprivation is a good thing. It's literally the whole idea behind saving money. You sacrifice things in the present that you may want (for enjoyment, not out of necessity) for something you do actually need. So, nah. I don't agree with Felix on this at all.
Jeez why do you equate money with fun or happiness. The point of money is to turn it into more money. Minimalism is a real thing. I get Gary talks loudly and in a weird way. But there are lot of minimalists out there who speak in a more organised calmer way than Gary
Gary Vee is...perplexing, to say the least. Some of the things he says are true and good ideas, and some of them are just too, ironically, idealistic. Nonstop hard work for a decade isn't the magic ticket to success, people work insanely hard their entire lives and just make enough to live comfortably. You have to be smart about where you allot your time, effort, and money, and, in all honesty, you have to just get lucky to some extent to make it that far. Funny thing is, Gary Vee would probably tell you the same thing in response to his own point.
I was so confused with that... Was that not the point? That being a millionaire isn't really the "success" here? Or am I reaching too much? Like pewds and ken literally said it themselves....
A lot of these rich people's mentalities is just sculpted by survivor bias. For every success story, there were hundreds of failures. Most completely out of people's control
And yet i bet you'd have a better chance of getting rich by working hard and making sacrifices then by doing nothing because you might get nothing out of it.
Survivor bias???? Get out. Gary vee is a dumbass but you dont call it survivor bias when you work your ass off for something, and continue doing it through failures. Thats called persistence and drive not survivor bias, regardless of if you agree with their venture or not.
Ik honestly. In business school, I had a professor who had 5 businesses. 2 were very successful and 3 failed. 1 of the 3 that failed was an amazing idea, was wildly successful at first, and a service that a lot of people wanted. It failed bc of reasons that were completely out of their control. If you grind every second of the day and do everything 100% perfectly, for most people it’s still a 50/50 chance on whether your business will be a success. Honestly, one of the main keys in being a successful entrepreneur is having good judgement regarding risk assessment. You need to know which risks will be the right ones to take. And if you fail, get back up. But the key to getting rich is being in the right place at the right time(and having connections doesn’t hurt).
It's this business coaching thing where it's about providing a lot of input that activates the other, and the person reflect on -for example- the actions he should take. As a leader/coach/whatever, gary is the most valuable if he "implant" ideas in someone's head by saying things that make them reflect. It's quite interesting and there's actually a book about it called "Straight line leadership"

Then again he prosthelytizing for his super unhealthy mindset and pushes his vulnerable followers into the same self-destructive behavior he uses to cope with whatever problem he has. - he brought his father's wine business online and grew it exponentially (impressive yes but it was already big to begin with)
- he pride himself in being an early adapter marketer and keep referencing that he made a google ad campaign the first day it was available
- he works mainly in marketing? and says that he works with big names but I don't really know whats notable in his portfolio
- as pewds said, I stopped watching when I realized he can talk so much with saying so little. he has some good advice don't get me wrong but he talks like every end of a phrase should be a mic drop when he didn't really say anything special
i once listened to his stuff on spotify, and I gotta say his content is like a blend of comments section advice and gym music.
that's usually every motivational speaker. nothing they ever say is new or interesting.

"Don't listen to Gary Vee." Sun Tzu, The Art of War
You are not completly wrong it is true
But i think he don't talk about jobs and this type of hardwork i don't really follow him blindly but i just listened to him to see his opinions and his mindset but i can't judge i am a little bit confused if he is just an idi*t who is speaking or a rich guy who i should listen to him and to his life lessons
“Picture someone in your family was shot in the head” definitely sounded motivational in his head
Love it when you do videos with Ken! He's the man!
He absolutely would. He would not tell you to work hard if it made you miserable, it's all about what makes you happy.
I was so confused with that...
Was that not the point? That being a millionaire isn't really the "success" here?
Or am I reaching too much? Like pewds and ken literally said it themselves....

best way to put it is ‘gary vee loves the sound of his voice’
Not true
A lot of these rich people's mentalities is just sculpted by survivor bias. For every success story, there were hundreds of failures. Most completely out of people's control
And yet i bet you'd have a better chance of getting rich by working hard and making sacrifices then by doing nothing because you might get nothing out of it.
@@bruno4499 thanks Gary vee
@@hithere5553 Yea no problem pewdiepie
3:50 actually really good advice
Gary Vee should write a book named; how to say absolutely nothing by talking too much.
15:46 the most realistic advice
Gary Vee is the kind of guy who thinks he knows everything because he made some money
He def knows a lot if you follow his insight on investments and watch his marketing tips he hits them spot on but when it comes to speeches he’s not the best
he made a metric ASS TON of money in multiple ways in multiple phases of marketing. "some"? lol
@@keiharris332 well that s one way to put it
@@eerieitroll4999 yea he does actually have knowledge he just speaks/expresses it weirdly
He has more money than Pews, so much more...
0:43 - Dude, that editing is so f'n good. That killed me.
Gum doesn’t actually stay in your system for 7 years, it just doesn’t get digested properly and passes right through your system essentially uninterrupted
I remember my high school English classes were obsessed with this guy. They'd play his speeches at the beginning of the year to try and motivate us to do good over the year. But it was just the most annoying thing ever.
Damn, that sounds terrible!I amazed that he has so many fanboys (and to be fair its mostly boys) . How they cant see his BS is beyond me
@@rao8559 they're the same kinda guys who believe in that alpha man/ sigma grindset bs
English teachers are the scum of the earth.
damnnn if the guy kisses his dad like that, imagine what he does with his mom. respect
just wanna see where gary stands in 5 years vs where felix is in 5 years…
@XH idk just wanna see where they r in 5 years, i feel like felix stagnated a long time ago
@XH from what i saw his veefriends collection is very successful and is a long term project but im also excited to see where that will be in 5 years
@XH all of his collections are well above the price they started at, i dont know who he is ripping off here?
Gary vee is just a fool.
But history has proven you can can say anything and make it seem like wisdom if you say it enough and say it with confidence.

Or if you surround yourself with dumb people who are incapable of thinking for themselves..
Not that I like him, but based on what he has achieved - how is he a fool? Don’t you think he knows what he’s doing if he was able to reach this level?
Are you a millionaire?
@@balintmoczar They literally said in the video he 'grew' his family business from 3 milion to tens of milions lol are u serious ? he made his money afterwards from selling 'courses' to people who think like you do
Finally 111 million subs congratulations pewds on your accomplishment. Now we need to get him to 112 million........
Gary got a wine company from his dad, made a bunch of money there, and now he scams people for football Jersey's at garage sales for $3
