You are so right about the Pontos instructions photoetch not being accurate, lacking and generally confusing

Thanks for the review. I have the kit and set. I bought the kit about 20 years ago, but never managed to get it started.

Great video Jason,The flyhawk pe instrucation in my opinion are a nigthmere . They dont tell you anything realy where the parts got to go ,so its a lot of cross reference with pictures and Tamiya instrucation.

Interesting information. I never knew the Tamiya kit was 1945. Good to know you can "revert" it to 1941...as I'm certain 90% of builders would prefer that version.

Good review of a very thorough backdating set. Way beyond my skill set to be honest. It would be the build of the year if 'the powers that be' i.e. the subscribers decide so. Keep up the good work!

I believe the base model for this 35013F1 pontos King George V upgrade kit is the Prince of Wales kit and not the King George V kit

@@ModelkitStuff I bought the upgrade directly from Pontos at the Telford show about 2 years ago and they were insistent that it was for the POW kit and not the KGV kit. I can't post it here, but if you look at the front box cover, at the bottom left it states that the kit is for a POW kit.

How easy is it to obtain a Pontos set? IE do they still make the sets for older models such as this one? I know that Pontos sets are very expensive. If a modeller just want to keep KGV as the 1945 variant that Tamiya has made. But they still want to detail her up. Then its probably a lot cheaper to buy a separate wood deck set and the Eduard PE sets maybe? Also, there is a Walrus plane in the Prince of Wales kit. So maybe you could order the sprue that contains the Walrus from Tamiya.

It's easy to get the pontos sets you order direct takes 2-3 weeks they are always all in stock from their distributing partner which is linked to the Pontos web page. yes cheaper to get eduard but eduard dont backdate from 1945 and dont do turned brass and is less comprehensive so cheaper for less
