Peter McKinnon Here's a question what do you think about Affinity photo it's supposed to be the Photoshop alternative. I have heard a lot of good things about it and wondered if you have heard of it and what you think of it.

Peters and Chris hau have the best presets I’ve used so far. He’s right when he says that sometimes presets are able to make a photo look a lot better with only one click but I’d also encourage you guys to tweak almost every photo you use them on. Each photo is different so treat them that way. Presets however are a fantastic base.
These presets are great! I am new to photography and these along with other photographer's presets have help shrink the learning curve of Lightroom. Thank you for allow another avid fan and pupil to use them. Amazing value!!!

i used to edit my photos with affinity photo,then with adobe photoshop and now i started editing my photos with lightroom and i can say that it is much more efficient .You must look into it. :D

Great tutorial and very useful presets. Not wild and wacky like many but great fixes for common lighting challenges. I'm getting these and I know that having this set locked and loaded in Lightroom will speed the process up. I may as well review some old shots that I thought couldn't be use!.
love the pack, however i will say when it comes to ppl of color it always needs to be tweaked. but for landscapes and lighter skin tones makes editing sometimes effortless!

I don't know about "literally millions", but yes, there are abundant free presets out there. Most of them are only "similar" to Peter's in the sense that they are created using similar tools provided by Lightroom. The look of the ones I saw is not similar at all. Peter's presets look great. Yes, like most, I would prefer to get them for free, but if the choice is between paying $20 for 15 high quality, original looking, well presented and explained presets vs. downloading hundreds or thousands of presents and then combing through them looking for usable ones, I may opt for the $20 option. If you can provide a link to presets that are genuinely similar in quality to Peter's, he may not appreciate it, and may even kick both of us off, but at least you will have proven your point. I am more than willing to check them out.

Nah, I would recommend using these three highly professional steps to make the pictures pop perfectly:
1. + 100 % contrast
2. + 100 % saturation
3. + 100 % clarity
And to make it even better, you can save the pictures as JPEGs and repeat this process an infinite amount of times, for perfect quality.
The thing I don't like about using other people's presets is that you're not letting yourself explore your own creativity in editing. It's like missing out a huge chunk of learning. Yes it might make your photos look much better but you won't know all the technical aspects of what makes it look good and you won't have the creative knowledge to know what would make it even better because you've not tried experimenting yourself. Presets are very useful for time management so they're not overall bad. The best thing to do is make your own presets, developing your own personal style not 'copy and pasting' someone else's.

I agree. I’ve just begun and learning how to frequency separate, and how to manipulate all the different features of Lightroom and photoshop has taken a lot of time. But, it’s been fun learning and creating. However, I’m thinking if I do get the presets I know they will just be a base for manipulating each picture even more according to my own creative style.
I have to say also, even if you are using a preset, you can always see deeper how the preset adjust your picture, and then, with this deeper view, you can try to adjust your next pictures with some new rules you liked from presest without using any presets and make your own style.
Just found this video when going through your library. I'm not nearly the photographer or photoshopper or lightroomer that many of your folks are, but this video just blew my mind by opening up all sorts of creative ideas for some of the photos I've taken. I've been taking pictures for years and over the last year and spent more time studying photography as well as taking more pics. I have used lightroom but only scratched the surface of its capabilities as I discovered watching this video. Thanks for the content. Thanks for the sincerity. Thanks for the fun! CAn't seem to be able to use the presets on Lightroom CC or Classic. The presets just don't show up when I click on PMCkinnon folder on Lightroom. Anyone else have this trouble?
I have the latest lightroom cc and after seeing your comment im wondering if I should buy it.
for Lightroom CC: Open LR, select the EDIT tab (Top right under the cloud icon), then select LIGHT. When the LIGHT tab is opened, select the PRESET tab (On the very bottom right hand) that will open up the default presets. Select the three dots (...) on top of the GRAIN preset, then select IMPORT PRESETS. That will open the browse folder, select the Peter Mckinnon LUT folder you have downloaded.. Hope that helps!

This tutorial shows how to import the presets to Lightroom using a Mac. I tried following along on my PC and I’m having trouble importing the presets to my Lightroom. Can anyone please help guide me? I bought it, downloaded it and it’s on my desktop...

@@breannebalser1586 Just found the solution! It took me a year to do but this was the first time actually trying to troubleshoot it. The pack comes with all the preset files which are LRTEMPLATE files, one DS_STORE file and one JPEG which is the "READ ME". You'll need to move only the the LRTEMPLATE files into the develop preset folder within the preferences folder as shown in the video. So exclude the JPEG and DS_STORE files and it should work once Lightroom is restarted. I've had this, and another one of his packs for a year and haven't been able to use them until now
Presets are useful for teaching yourself a certain editing style, but after a while its just an advanced instagram filter. They're training wheels for real editing. Useful at first, but eventually you gotta let go.
I'm talking about using someone else's presets, not the ones you create on your own.
