Thank you Ashton and Jonathan for this inspiring video. Until now I've never heard about the Christmas market below the Ravenna Viadukt. The Ravenna Viadukt is part of the Höllentalbahn (lit. hells valley railway) which is connecting Freiburg and Titisee-Neustadt. It was designed and planned by Robert Gerwig - a well-known engineer. It has been opened on May 21, 1887 as a cog railway due to the steep slope in some sections. With more advanced designs of locomotives available it was turned into a standard railway line based on frictive traction. This railway connection was electrified for operation with 50 Hz alternating current which is different from the frequency of 16 2/3 Hz usually used at German railways. The frequency of 50 Hz is used for power supply to industry and private homes. However in the very first electric drives - particularly the ones used in locomotives - the higher frequency was likely to cause enormous sparks and hence strong wear at switches and the collectors of electric motors. In the 1960ies the power supply was changed according to the railway standard specification. Robert Gerwig also participated in the planning and construction of the north part of the Gotthard railway line in Switzerland. Additionally he also caused the invention of the original Schwarzwald Cuckoo clock. There are entries in Wikipedia for both, Höllentalbahn and Robert Gerwig. You may put your skills in German to the test since the english entries are really short lacking a lot of information provided by the German entries.

You‘re absolutely right, Kiden. It’s so hard, preparing for seasonal work, investing money and time, and then it doesn’t happen. This happened to me last year- today I will perform a concert a year late, and we were on tenterhooks, rehearsing, not knowing if it would happen.

Glad you made it before the shutdown. Good tip for a winter trip. Will miss the Christmas Markets, they really help get through the dark winter. Loved the Crepé review. Interesting that in Germany Crepés are mostly made “fresh” and in France they pre-cook the crepé and just warm it up on the griddle.
Hahaha Jonathan's food reviews are certainly entertaining, I don't know how Food Network hasn't reached out to us just yet. 😂😂 The crepes do take longer with a much longer line but they are so so tasty!
@@TypeAshton Just curious. Does Jonathan actually like every single dish out there in Germany or is "delicious" just the only food related adjective he knows? ;)

Thank you for telling me what I missed, I have to visit this Market, hopefully the effing pandemic will stop till next year. It really is so magical. According to their website, they will only close for 2 weeks and then *hopefully* reopen if the regulations in BW are not extended for another 2 weeks. So there may still be a chance that you could visit this year. But I would highly recommend going once the pandemic is over. This is our favorite Christmas market by far! ❤️❤️ Thanks for watching!

Ja, das ist wirklich der schöneste Weihnachtsmarkt. Danke, dass ihr mich mitgenommen habt, dieses Jahr waren wir nicht schnell genug. Natürlich hebt er nichts zu essen auf. Mach ich auch nie. I was intrigued when I saw this video of the beautiful German Christmas market. I lived downtown Chicago, IL, for quite a few years, and they have a German Christmas market every year in Daley Plaza. In the early years, they had a lot of space, and always had a large tent where a German man would demonstrate Glass blowing and it was so fascinating watching him make such beautiful blown glass figures. It was usually very cold so the warmth from his furnace was very enticing. He didn't speak English but they always had a sign that he came from the Black Forest area of Germany. The name of your channel caught my attention and am so glad to learn more about the Black Forest area of Germany. Glad I saw your channel and am looking forward to future videos that you post. Wishing your family the best for 2022 and beyond.
We have heard several people talk about the Chicago Christmas market and how great they are. Apparently they are an accurate representation of the German ones. Maybe next year we should try and arrive a little bit early (for our Christmas trip home) and make a visit. That would be a fun video! Thank you for watching! We hope you have a great and healthy 2022!
The Rawenna Schlucht is so beautiful and you are right, the Christmas Market is one of the most amazing one my wife and I visited so far. We were always looking forward to go there. Hopefully they get to open again before Christmas. Wonderful that you could go!
oh and to add one more thing ... the Hotel "Hofgut Sternen" is one of the nicest ones in the whole region (if you do not rely too much on having good internet ;) ) They have excelent food, very personal service and a very long history! They even claim that marie Antoinette herself stayed at the location once upon time! I always am looking forward to staying there when I visit my customer in Freiburg.
They are tentatively still hoping to open on the 21st again since the BW-regulations only call for a 2 week closure. So who knows! Nonetheless, once the pandemic subsides we do wish you and your wife are able to visit this Christmas Market. It is one of the very best in Europe. ❤️❤️
@@TypeAshton we used to live near Böblingen until March, so we came to the Rawenna Schlucht many times before the Pandemic 😅 you chose a wonderful place for your boy to grow up
We had tickets for the 18. december for the Ravenna Weihnachtsmarkt, but it is now closed as we expected when booking it two weeks ago. It was a nice try and next year will be a new chance. The Xmas market in Colmar or Strasbourg a very nice and definitely a recommendation for visiting. Maybe not this year in case of the pandemic but next year.
Awe bummer! Like we said in the video, we really only gave this a 5% chance of happening, but really just lucked out. Colmar is STUNNING but we haven't been to the market in Strausbourg. We definitely have it on our list for next year's content.

I do have to agree on the disappointment concerning the closures of all the Xmas markets and lockdowns! We were able to go to the one in downtown Frankfurt during thanksgiving time and we made it to Heidelberg right before they closed theirs down. Irregardless we enjoyed it while it was open concerning the fact this was my first Xmas market I’ve been to in Germany 😑 I hope you feel better Ashton
Yes, it really is sad. But we also fully understand why the government has made the decision to close the markets state-wide. It is very difficult to govern while also making exceptions. But the Hochschwarzald Tourism Board did everything possible to make this event as safe as they could and still allow the vendors and artisans to participate and raise money. Hopefully next year we can all finally celebrate without pandemic concerns. Until then, we are happy for these special moments. We certainly got lucky. Also, thank you for the well wishes. I hope my voice will return for the next video. ❤️
The problem with events that are held outside is that many people go there by public transportation. So to break this fourth wave, contacts need to be massively reduced, especially indoors like, of course, public transport. As always an excellent video
Yes, we also respect and understand why the decision was made. We feel very lucky that we were still able to go and experience it before it closed. I hope it can open again on the 21st so the vendors can make more money to cover all of their expenses and work.
Not only the public transportation is the problem, also gatherings without social distancing build a breeding spot (with Delta it's 2m), even outside. I know cases, which solely spread in the open, without sharung any indoor spaces.
Ashton: Ich hätte gerne eine Feuersangenbowle. Rudi: Six Euros. Ashton (shoot, he's recognized me again. But next year. I promise. Ts-angen, ts-angen ...)
To answer your question, Ashton: Yes. Jonathan would have to buy a fresh new crêpe just for you, take Jack and let us watch how you enjoy . . . 😊 because these Nutella Crêpes are especially designed for initializing a sudden kind of greed, no one is able to resist and stop eating before the whole piece is gone !
No way he wouldn't eat that and it's crazy of her to even feel bad about it. Also i'm sure he would have went to get another but she said she wouldn't want him to wait in line for so long . Next time, just do the review while already standing in line again ;)
I was there on the 27th of November. With the snow, it is magical, one of the most beautiful Christmas markets I have seen (and I am german, so have seen quite a few). The one in Konstanz next to the lake of Konstanz is amazing too, but not happening this year.
Yes! For us too... after we were at the market for an hour, just the lightest bit of snow started to fall. It looked almost fake because it was so pretty! Almost like a snow globe.
But hey, at least your loving husband filmed the whole process in detail so editing Ashton can enjoy the crepe the way we viewers do. That's so considers of him. ;)
You were so lucky! And we are too, to be able to see your beautiful video of it..! I’m hoping to get hot chestnuts next weekend in a pretty Bavarian town near where I live. They have decorated and there are a couple of „to-go“ stalls, to give a safe Christmas market feeling. Fingers crossed.
Yummmmm as you saw, those are Jonathan's FAVORITE at the Christmas market! We hope to visit Bavaria soon! I'm sure it is beautiful this time of year (and all year for that matter 😉). Thanks for watching!
@@TypeAshton yes, I would have pinched one off him. Or two… They’re my favourite thing about Christmas in Germany. I feel like I‘m abroad. Let the situation calm down a bit, then come and enjoy beautiful Bayern, too. There’s not enough free time for all the beautiful places in Germany!
my sympathy for the loss of the fantastic delicious Nutella Crêpe experience! Never heard about this christmas market before even living just 65km (40mi) away. Marvelous! Thank you for sharing! And "Gute Besserung"!
Nice to have you in Germany. I just stumbled upon your website, and I think the vast majority of professional recreational websites in your area could learn a lot from your website. Keep it up! Dorotheenhütte, Wolfach German Clock Museum, Furtwangen Restaurant: Hexenlochmühle, Furtwangen Restaurant: Ackerloch Grillschopf, Unterkirnach
OOOPS , serious Weihnachtsmarkt marriage crisis ! 😬 You better think of something VERY nice VERY soon, Jonathan ! 🤭 On the other hand, Ashton , isn't it the best excuse ever to order a Feuerzangenbowle for medical treatment ? 😜 But seriously this market looks like a fairyland and I'd love to see it some day - how lucky you were to get there before it closes ! Excellently edited video, thank you for sharing !
Hahaha thankfully he treated me to my favorite dinner tonight - so I think I'll keep him around 😉😉 And thank you so much for the compliment. We are really happy to hear you enjoyed the video.
We were planning on going later once our kids arrive from the States next week but that's not going to happen now. I feel so bad for all the vendors. At least we got to go to the Freiburg market before it shut down.
I feel so bad for them as well....They probably invested in inventory and materials to be able to provide food/materials/gifts for the entire Christmas Market season, and now they just have to sit on it. We could tell that they put so much work into making this seasons special since the closures last year. 💔
I dunno if that Christmas Market has "Flammlachs" which is salmon strapped onto a piece of wood put directly onto the fire and then stuffed into a bun. its so delicous, yet pricy
Oh man that sounds AMAZING. Had Jonathan known about it or saw it at this Christmas market he would definitely have ordered it. That is right up his alley!
It is easy to make. You get those flat wire "cages" for putting fish on the BBQ in camping and outdoor stores. All you need then is two lengths of hardwood, hinges and some hooks. You fix the hinges between the pieces of wood so that you can put them up like a big A over your BBQ. Screw the hooks into the wood so that they can hold the wire cages for the fish. When the fish is done from one side, pull the cages out, turn them over and slide them under the hooks again so that the other side gets the smoke and heat. When you add hickory or oak flakes to the glowing coal you get the fine smoke flavour as well.
Although it is on the "fringes of Kitsch" and really a bit expensive I like this Christmas Market the same way you do. By the way cold crepes don't taste that good; so your husband did you a favour, not forcing you to eat a cold crepe and giving you the opportunity to get a fresh one!
@@grandmak. I can't agree: Not Christmas is Kitsch; Kitsch is, what some make out of it. And most Christmas Markets are on the fringe of Kitsch, and you are right, that is why we like them. Every logical analysis proves they are overexpensive, the products are useless, Bratwurst and Glühwein do not go together well and cause stomach problems. I agree, we do like these things.
Hallo Blackforest Family! Thanks for that video. But did you hear about the Weihnachtsmarkt in Schweinhütt? That is close to Regen in the Bavarian Forest. The huts are build permanent by the Schweinhütt people in the forest up a hill and there are only sellers from the region. But you „must“ stay a weekend and enjoy a walk through the winterforest! Stay healthy!
When we got food delivered in a special kind of setting one of my friends always got a Nutella Crepe (or one with a Kinderriegel), while others got sugar and/or cinnamon ones.
The thing with Grog is: you should have only one, before the cold breaks out… immediately go to bed and sweat the hole thing away. That is just the idea ;-) Or, just to prevent, when it’s nasty weather (cold, rainy, windy; Shietwedder at the North Sea coast…) By the way, the best northern recipe for Grog goes: „Rum must, sugar can, water not needed“ :-)))
Looks very nice. If you into romantic Xmas market locations you should next year when hopefully all of this pandemic is gone try to visit Eisenach and the medieval Xmas market on the Wartburg. You won't regret it. When the frost reaches your bones you can get inside and warm up while watching a puppet show in the famous Palas. No offence to your local butcher, but a real Thüringer Bratwurst can only be found in Thüringia ;-)
Those crêpe stations at markets are a trap ;). Our children always wanted to stop there and usually we did. So as a kind of defense we started making them at home. That didn't turn out as planned either, as these little devils somehow managed to turn that into a tradition and now we're having crêpe for lunch pretty much every single wednesday. And all hell breaks lose, if we skip that. ;)
Mulled wine or Feuerzangenbowle is the best medicine if you have problems with colds. After the fourth drink at the latest, you don't care about the cold or anything else, you have completely different problems. Namely with walking, seeing and speaking clearly ...
You can make crepes at home. You don't even need that little tool that looks like a T. And if you do it at home, you can add banana slices to your nutella crepe.
@@TypeAshton it’s a really special one because it is within a small old fortified city core that looks like fortress. There used to be always one guest country per year featured with a special area and country specific food etc.
That sounds amazing! Do you have a favorite memory of one of those guest countries? I can imagine that really added a lot of surprise and intrigue to the Christmas Market.
I bet Jonathan would enjoy that very much! Marizpan is an ingredient I have not grown to love, despite living here for so long. But I would add a banana to my nutella crepe any day!
We were hoping to get more as well, but our little one took priority and we had to cut our time a bit short. We hope you enjoyed the video nonetheless.
Awe that's too bad.... In Freiburg they had about a week of "normal" 3G, then they moved it to "artisans only" with no food or drinks.... but I think it is probably just shutting down all together now. Really unfortunate for all of the vendors who put so much work into it all.
@@TypeAshton right, takes a while and some money to organize the whole thing...Hessen decided to let the markets open.so will go again for sure.A Antigen test is quickly done and also for free
Ashton your cold for me as a father is very normal: - first the kid, when it recovered - then mom, when she recovered - the dad might be after that the circle again 😏😣
Yes, just as you said - it feels like it has been a revolving door of colds and sicknesses since Jack started at Kita. Everyone at our house is in some stage of illness (either starting, fighting or recovering). Although... at the rate things are going, Jack is going to have one strong immune system.
Jack Jack was a very good boy. We made an exception and kept him up well past his usual bedtime. Although he hung in there for the first hour, by the end of the Christmas Market he was ready for bed. ❤️
@@TypeAshton we were 3 brothers and a sister all just 1-2 years apart.. imagine taking such a "Rasselbande" to a christmas market like that xD you are so lucky to make all these wonderful experiences and sharing it with us. Wish you the best. Greetings from Northern Germany :)
Great vid! I wonder how the other markets are doing, specifically going to cologne and Frankfurt in a week since supposedly they are open but also considering cancelling my trip because others are saying they are slowly being cancelled and I unfortunately cannot find any recent news about it 😥
In past years, we never had to buy tickets in advance, only at the door. But this year they were controlling the crowd for COVID. I should also mention, because I commented on another: This particular market, the entrance fee is just 5 euros, but that also covers your "free" shuttle back and forth from either Hinterzarten or Himmelreich to catch the train. And we have to say - this market is EXPERTLY put together. Excellent facilities (free, clean attended bathrooms, beautiful music/lighting, and multiple bonfires and sometimes even live music). Really a beautiful experience.
I don't know, maybe I am getting old, but I cannot associate neon lights with christmas. I associate them with disco, or Time Square, or something like that.
Is the time you can spend there always limited to 2 hours or is it due to the pandemic? :) Best regards PS: Maybe there will be a Crepe maker under the christmas tree for you and he will start to make crepes as good as his omelette :D Sounds fair..... But Iam not the one that has to do it :P
Hahah there is a good compromise! I would love a morning Crepe with my coffee and I still have yet to get Jonathan a Christmas Present. 😊 Also - to your first question: this year they limited it to just 2 hours because they were controlling the crowd size to 50%. In past years I don't recall there being a time limit.
The video evidence shows that there are sufficient elements for the divorce request with just cause and alimony to be paid by the self-centered husband. If the parties want to reach an agreement privately, I propose that the accused undergo an intensive course in the preparation of crepes to be able to always prepare them whenever you feel the desire.
6:45: "Hallo, Ich hätte gerne eine Feuerzangenbowle" (with an accent, but still: in perfect German... absolutely no English) - vendor answers first by asking - in German- for confirmation of what he understood, and then by saying *in English: "six Euros"* ;-)
@@TypeAshton If this was "trying", then it was very successful :-) ... as I wrote: perfect (standard) German, just enough of an accent to recognise that German is apparently not your native language. ... just 2 small differences: 1. I can't really describe the difference, but your pronunciation of "ich" showed a bit that you may not be a native German speaker, and 2. the more noticeable difference was your pronunciation of the letter "z" in the word Feuer[z]angenbowle ... you said "s", while the z in German is rather spoken as "ts" (like in the word Tsunami) ... so, maybe just practice a bit more the German pronunciation of some words with "z" - and then nobody will assume to speak with an American when you order your Feuer[ts]angenbowle next year ;-) (... or maybe the vendors at this Weihnachtsmarkt are just very experienced with English speaking tourists? I don't know - are there many foreign tourists?)
The medieval “Lichterweihnachtsmarkt” in Dortmund (previously Telgte) has always been one of the best Christmas markets. Sadly, it hasn’t been able to take place the last two years. Given that the organizer is retiring, it looks like it may not take place again. That makes me so sad. BTW: you can get Crêpes at almost ALL Christmas markets, surely also in Freiburg itself 😉
Awe that is really so sad. I really hope that next year things can get back to normal and that someone takes on the responsibility of organizing the Christmas market in Dortmund. The magic they bring to the community is immeasurable.
@@TypeAshton The regular Christmas market is still going, just not the “Lichterweihnachtsmarkt”, which is like a renaissance fair / medieval Christmas market with bands playing, and everything is lit up with light chains, torches and candles, plus there are bonfires everywhere to warm up. I love it! I don’t know how many stalls there are at the regular Christmas market this year due to the pandemic and all the regulations, but normally it’s about 300. Dortmund is also renowned for having the largest Christmas tree. People even come from Holland to see it.
I laughed so hard when Ashton complained about Jonathan. 🤣🤣🤣
So many treasured childhood memories! Thank you!
Glad we could bring back memories of happy times. ❤️ Thanks for watching!
@@TypeAshton My father was stationed at RCAF Baden-Soellingen but I went to school in Bern, Switzerland. Instead of going back to Canada for the holidays, the family celebrated the season in the Black Forest. There is nothing more whimsical and magical than Christmas in Germany! Thank you again!

Love this video guys!!! So glad you made it to a Christmas Market!

I have been to the Ravenna Gorge several times, but did not know that they had this incredible Christmas market. I have to see this maybe next year. Thank you for the tip.
It really was so magical. We highly recommend you go next year. It is VERY much worth it.
Ive been to a lot of Christmas markets and my favorite was Nuremberg. I loved the wooden toys, the sausages, the smokers and prune people, and especially the Lebkuchen!!

Thank you Gerad! It was sooooo pretty? Did you and the family make it to the Christmas market in the city center before it closed?
Thanks for sharing! It was a beautiful experience.
So glad you enjoyed it. ❤️❤️
Great video! Ravennaschlucht Christmas market goes on the bucket list.
You should visit Rothenburg ob der Tauber, if you already haven't.

Thank you so much for watching ❤️ We are so happy you enjoy the videos. It means a lot.

Rudi: Six Euros.

hahaha this were my EXACT thoughts. Dang it! Next year..... 😂😉
Very nice impressions from the Christmas market. Thanks
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Hahahah - it is definitely difficult to resist the temptation of the Nutella crepe!
No way he wouldn't eat that and it's crazy of her to even feel bad about it. Also i'm sure he would have went to get another but she said she wouldn't want him to wait in line for so long . Next time, just do the review while already standing in line again ;)
Ich hoffe so sehr, dass wir nächstes Jahr wieder normal feiern dürfen. Frohe Weihnachten

It's the most fantasy look Ravennaschlucht! I missed it again.

That's so considers of him. ;)
Hahah yes, you make a good point!🤣
I didn't see the answer but I bet he ate the whole crepe.
„Ein Mann muss tun was ein Mann tun muss 😂“
You were so lucky! And we are too, to be able to see your beautiful video of it..! I’m hoping to get hot chestnuts next weekend in a pretty Bavarian town near where I live. They have decorated and there are a couple of „to-go“ stalls, to give a safe Christmas market feeling. Fingers crossed.

The food review is like listening to my middle son. My tummy says that's del-is-e-us. **in deep tummy voice** del-is-e-us. See I told you so.
@@TypeAshton Flammlachs bekommt man jederzeit auch im Euopapark
Hahaha I still think Jonathan owes me a crepe, but I'll give him a pass this time. 😆😉
@@TypeAshton I guess that was his plan anyway. Enjoy the crepe!
Christman IS Kitsch , but very nice and romantic Kitsch !
@@grandmak. I can't agree: Not Christmas is Kitsch; Kitsch is, what some make out of it. And most Christmas Markets are on the fringe of Kitsch, and you are right, that is why we like them.
That sounds like a wonderful thing to do next winter! Thank you so much for the recommendation!
When we got food delivered in a special kind of setting one of my friends always got a Nutella Crepe (or one with a Kinderriegel), while others got sugar and/or cinnamon ones.
Both sound super tasty!! At the Christmas Market in Freiburg there was also a waffle stand that really smelled divine.
Legend!
Really nice x-mas market. For your cold I suggest drinking "Grog" (black tee with raps honey and rum or water with suger and rum).
Mmmm yum! In the US many make a "hot toddy" which is hot water, whiskey, honey, and lemon. But at this point I am happy to try just about anything. 🤣😜
The thing with Grog is: you should have only one, before the cold breaks out… immediately go to bed and sweat the hole thing away. That is just the idea ;-)
Or, just to prevent, when it’s nasty weather (cold, rainy, windy; Shietwedder at the North Sea coast…)
By the way, the best northern recipe for Grog goes: „Rum must, sugar can, water not needed“ :-)))
Gute Besserung Ashton! Maybe try making Crêpe yourself (Pro-tip: put a Kinderriegel in it instead of Nutella...or do both...or more than one).
Thank you! I am feeling better but my voice just cuts in and out. I will definitely look up a Crepe recipe.

You won't regret it. When the frost reaches your bones you can get inside and warm up while watching a puppet show in the famous Palas. No offence to your local butcher, but a real Thüringer Bratwurst can only be found in Thüringia ;-)
Oh wow that sounds so amazing and I'm sure Jack would LOVE the puppets! Thank you so much for the recommendation. ❤️
my favorite christmas market is and still is in Esslingen am neckar
Ohhh we will need to try to go there next year!
Crepe mit Himbeer oder Erdbeer Marmelade, das ist mein Favorit ;)
Lecker!! Ich liebe Himbeermarmelade.
And all hell breaks lose, if we skip that. ;)
Hahahaha your kids sound VERY smart. 😂
Mulled wine or Feuerzangenbowle is the best medicine if you have problems with colds. After the fourth drink at the latest, you don't care about the cold or anything else, you have completely different problems. Namely with walking, seeing and speaking clearly ...
hahahaha this is true! Although I think I would probably trade my cold in for a stomach ache with all of the sugar in the Glühwein. 🤣🤣
You can make crepes at home. You don't even need that little tool that looks like a T. And if you do it at home, you can add banana slices to your nutella crepe.
Mmmmm that sounds tasty. We do make pancakes at home (but more American style). I would love to learn how to make crepes at home.

We were hoping to get more as well, but our little one took priority and we had to cut our time a bit short. We hope you enjoyed the video nonetheless.
by the way feuerzangenbowle is a very old famous german black and white movie.

We wanted to go there but we couldn’t get parked near by and my Mum is in a wheelchair so getting the bus from the town would have been difficult
If you are heading that way this year, I just heard from a colleague that parking spots are still for sale for the upcoming Christmas season.
Our mayor also decided to run local Christmas market on 2G+ rules.ok for me but unfortunately some vendors quit and left their stalls empty

Great vid! I wonder how the other markets are doing, specifically going to cologne and Frankfurt in a week since supposedly they are open but also considering cancelling my trip because others are saying they are slowly being cancelled and I unfortunately cannot find any recent news about it 😥
Yeah I really have no idea. The entire state of BW has Christmas Markets closed for the time being 😢
is this generally a market that needs tickets or is it just because of corona?
In past years, we never had to buy tickets in advance, only at the door. But this year they were controlling the crowd for COVID.
I should also mention, because I commented on another:
This particular market, the entrance fee is just 5 euros, but that also covers your "free" shuttle back and forth from either Hinterzarten or Himmelreich to catch the train. And we have to say - this market is EXPERTLY put together. Excellent facilities (free, clean attended bathrooms, beautiful music/lighting, and multiple bonfires and sometimes even live music). Really a beautiful experience.
I finds toll dass ihr die Preise im Video drinnen habt. Ganz schön teuer
I don't know, maybe I am getting old, but I cannot associate neon lights with christmas. I associate them with disco, or Time Square, or something like that.
Yes we understand that, however in our childhood it was very common so we try to keep some of the tradition alive.
I can not find the bus that was mentioned in the video.
The shuttle is included in the ticket price purchased online.

Hahah there is a good compromise! I would love a morning Crepe with my coffee and I still have yet to get Jonathan a Christmas Present. 😊
Also - to your first question: this year they limited it to just 2 hours because they were controlling the crowd size to 50%.

THIS. THIS COMMENT IS EVERYTHING. 😂🤣🤣
The video starts at 4:20
6:45: "Hallo, Ich hätte gerne eine Feuerzangenbowle" (with an accent, but still: in perfect German... absolutely no English)
- vendor answers first by asking - in German- for confirmation of what he understood, and then by saying *in English: "six Euros"* ;-)
Hey I tried! hahah. 😂 Next year I'll work on perfecting my German accent a bit better.
@@TypeAshton If this was "trying", then it was very successful :-) ... as I wrote: perfect (standard) German, just enough of an accent to recognise that German is apparently not your native language.
... just 2 small differences: 1. I can't really describe the difference, but your pronunciation of "ich" showed a bit that you may not be a native German speaker, and 2. the more noticeable difference was your pronunciation of the letter "z" in the word Feuer[z]angenbowle ... you said "s", while the z in German is rather spoken as "ts" (like in the word Tsunami)
... so, maybe just practice a bit more the German pronunciation of some words with "z" - and then nobody will assume to speak with an American when you order your Feuer[ts]angenbowle next year ;-) (... or maybe the vendors at this Weihnachtsmarkt are just very experienced with English speaking tourists?
