Belleville Toyota has some of the best tutorials around. I couldn't get Google Maps to work, but somehow it was disabled on my phone (even after I thought I had used it). Love Android Auto. Need to get it to work wirelessly.👍
@@lynej2011 no need to call the service department, it's the design of the equipment/car. All service can do is update the software that's it. It's the manufacturer... The '23 Camry has the wireless option... They're so behind

Wonderfully clear instructions. However, I have a 2023 Corolla GR and it appears that Toyota have changed everything. There is no Android Auto (or Apple Car play) available. FWIW they have also deleted voice training and it doesn't understand my commands (though I have no trouble with my 2020 Sienna understanding me). I guess I have to stick my GPS on the windshield!
The 2023 Corolla GR comes with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, if you are having issues connecting, it's best to contact your local Toyota dealership and see a technology specialist or service advisor, who will be able to help.

If you had connected it before, you should be able to do it as per the video, however, if you contact your local Toyota dealership, I'm sure they'll be able to help reconnect or reset your settings.

Thank you for taking time for these videos they are very helpful. Question about handsfree calling. We have two phones that are connected to Bluetooth. If phone 1 getting a call it works on the car, but the car won't take a call on phone 2 even though the phone is known to the car and Bluetooth is on. Same if 1 is connected to Android auto you can't seem to say that the other phone can receive calls on Bluetooth as well. Is it what it is, or am I missing something?
Most vehicles that have the bluetooth connection can pair/save multiple devices for convenience, so everytime that device is near it doesn't have to pair. Only one device can be used at a time in regards to taking/making calls, or playing music apps. However, if you have a Toyota that has the Multi-Media system that has wireless connection, under Manage Devices: 1 device can connect via apple car play/android auto, the other device use for phone & media - this lets you connect both phones to receive calls in the vehicle. To make calls, the one connected via apple carplay/android auto, uses Siri/Google (press and hold call button) rather than the voice command of the vehicle (just press).
We have a toyota plug in hybride 2019 with the same screen but I don't have the projection option only have mirrorlink usb&wifi and no one of them works it pops on as toyota touch on my phone I click connect but nothing happen
Depending on your model, you may not have this available on your vehicle. It's best to contact your local Toyota dealership who can check and confirm this for you.

I have a 2020 corolla with projection in the menu homescreen and apple car play in the "setup" menu but I don't see Android auto on my setup menu. When I press projection on the menu homescreen, it tells me to "connect a compatible device via USB to use this feature". I do have entune- the toyota app, as well as scout GPS, however, I find it very clumsy and cumbersome. Does this. Mean I'm stuck with using the toyota app rather than android auto? Anyway I can download the app on the car? I already have the app on my phone.
Android Auto was not added to Corolla until the 2021 model year. There is no app to download Android Auto to your vehicle. Unfortunately you will need to use the Toyota app as the vehicle will only use projection with an iPhone in the 2020 model year.

Hi Benjamin! You have the projection icon in MENU, but it is only compatible with Apple Carplay. Unfortunately, since the Corolla is one of the first vehicles produced each year, the 2020 model did not receive Android Auto. This isn't working on my 2020 corolla. And I'm pretty sure I have the data transfer cable. Car play works with my iPhone. Switched to android and I don't even get a prompt on my phone or the corolla screen when I plug in. I have the s24 ultra and android auto is now built into the phone OS now. It is not a separate app.
@M20AFKS so after some research, the sedan 2020 corolla didn't come with android auto. Just car play. I'm literally gonna have to spend $500 on a new head unit off Amazon and install it myself. Super frustrating.

if your corolla has only the car play option it may not have the software equipped to project Android auto. As such there isn't any way to add Android auto as it programmed only with car play.
I wish this was explained when I purchased the car. I was so excited to use this feature but couldn’t figure it out for the life of me - thought it came with the car. Didn’t know I had to hook my phone up to get it to work. Calls to 800 #s and dealership went unanswered or phone kept ringing. Thanks, I can now get off the hamster wheel…well that is until I go back and try to figure out door-lock settings 😵💫 btw, I’m 69 and somewhat tech-savvy.

super weird. I followed the steps but there is no projection setting after click on general but only has apple carplay shows ON And I knew 2019 Rav4 does have android auto. once I connect with my Pixel 7 (version 13) the android auto wont launch
Strange, here in Europe there are thousands of Corolla's of the 2019 model that have both Apple carplay and Android Auto. And if its not installed an upgrade is available for under 100 euro, Toyota dealer will do the upgrade.... If you bought a 2019 model new at your dealer you could get a free upgrade later that year when the upgrade was out...
Hi Tahir! There may be some aftermarket options (that we typically do not recommend as it could cause problems to the vehicle). There is currently no update or retroactive program to add Android Auto to the 2020 Corolla. I am hoping that they may develop something in the future to resolve these concerns. If you haven't already, perhaps you may need to try a different cord, or have your local Toyota service department check and diagnose the connection/USB ports.

Good morning Terry. Wireless android is only available on the 2022 Tundra at this time. It is coming in future generations with the upgrade in Infotainment systems.

Once you plug the USB cable, both systems respond to it and you just click on "Allow", "Continue" etc. That's it. Much easier. The way you explained it is a little bit more complicated. It is certainly an easier setup on Apple phones than Androids as many older Android phones do not have the app factory-installed and therefore none of the settings are on and active. Wireless capability only became available on certain 2023 Toyota models. Therefore, you would need the data transfer cable to initiate Android Auto or Apply Car Play.
Iam still having issues connectimf my samsumg galaxy s23 plus to my toyota corrol xse apex 2022. The message says this device is not recognised. Or it says check your charger connection on my phone despite my phone still being charged.
If your vehicle does not come with embedded navigation then yes, you will need to connect your phone to your vehicle to use your phone’s map app. Wireless connection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is not available in the 2022 RAV4.
My 2018 corolla has andriod selected in projection settings. The phone seems to be recognised via the cable. But no prompts open on the display screen. On my phones app the andriod auto set up doesn't recognise as the cable. Any thoughts? If andriod auto isn't compatible on the car I don't see why it would be in projection settings??
Hi Mitch! I am assuming you are not located in Canada, as Android Auto did not appear on the Corolla sedan until 2021. If the vehicle was not compatible with Android Auto, it should absolutely not appear in Projection settings. When you click MENU, does the Projection icon change to say Android Auto once you have plugged in your device? If not, something is wrong with your cord or the connection to the vehicle. If yes, what happens when you click on this button? Your apps do not appear? Once connected, your Google Maps should also appear if you click the MAP button on your head unit. Does this happen? Ensure your device is running at a minimum 6.0 software (marshmallow), you have the Android Auto app downloaded, and preferably your apps and phone are updated :) Let me know how you make out!

Hello Belleville Toyota, I have a '22 Camry with the big touchscreen. Will the Toyota Navigation override Android Auto? Meaning, will it still give me directions audibly and/or on the HUD while let's say I'm playing music via Android Auto? Or do I manually have to switch back and forth between Toyota Navigation and Android Auto? I don't wish to use Google Maps or similar. Thanks in advance.
Android Auto will still play your music as it runs in the background of your navigation. In addition to this, if you are trying to use google maps and navigation at the same time, only the navigation will show on your screen.

I purchased a used 2022 corolla. My dashboard monitor screen works when I connect VA Bluetooth ,but when I first tried to connect to other things as well as the constant the toyota agent on the phone said that the only owner is still registered and I need to submit the registration paper yo them via email and they will change it in my name I need that email to submit my registration papers to toyota.
The seller should unenroll themselves from the vehicle through their Toyota App. Until the previous owner has unrolled themselves from the vehicle, the previous owners is able to see your vehicle trips, driving behavior, last parked location, vehicle status, drive score, odometer, fuel level and distance to empty. If they have not unenrolled the vehicle or you are unsure, contact your local Toyota dealer for assistance.

That is correct. Android Auto was not introduced until later so Apple CarPlay is your only option on a 2020 Corolla

This isn't working on my 2020 corolla. And I'm pretty sure I have the data transfer cable. Car play works with my iPhone. Switched to android and I don't even get a prompt on my phone or the corolla screen when I plug in. I have the s24 ultra and android auto is now built into the phone OS now. It is not a separate app.

@M20AFKS so after some research, the sedan 2020 corolla didn't come with android auto. Just car play. I'm literally gonna have to spend $500 on a new head unit off Amazon and install it myself. Super frustrating.

@belletoyota thank you for the clarification. It's unfortunate lol I ordered a new head unit from China that will have both wireless android auto and wireless car play. The install is plug and play with 2020 toyota corolla models as well.
I have a 2020 Corolla hatchback SE...here is my question.. Can I use the USB port in the arm rest to cable my Android for Android auto? I need the front USB to connect my dash cam.
If the icon on the USB port in the center console only shows the charging symbol, you won't be able to use this to connect Android Auto.
I have 2021 Toyota Highlander XLE. While using android auto wireless adapter, I am getting the direction map but I am not getting turn by turn audio. Is there are a setting which allows me to get turn by turn audio direction also? Please respond. Thank you.
As we are not familiar with wireless adapter for android auto, it's best to contact your local Toyota dealer and speak or see a technology expert to better assist you.

Unfortunately, not that we are aware, as this would also depend on Android and Toyota Manufacture to make it available for pre 2021 models.

Are you aware of an os system update or a mirroring type of app that will work with this model please? The Android Auto app does not show this car to be compatible. Unfortunately no, we are not aware of an upgrade that can be done to add Android Auto to your CHR.

if your corolla has only the car play option it may not have the software equipped to project Android auto. As such there isn't any way to add Android auto as it programmed only with car play.
What if I don't have projection settings in my general menu? It just says apple car play and it's on but I have android.
Most Toyotas had apple car play available before android auto, depending on the year and model of your vehicle, this may be the case for your vehicle.
I wish this was explained when I purchased the car. I was so excited to use this feature but couldn’t figure it out for the life of me - thought it came with the car. Didn’t know I had to hook my phone up to get it to work. Calls to 800 #s and dealership went unanswered or phone kept ringing. Thanks, I can now get off the hamster wheel…well that is until I go back and try to figure out door-lock settings 😵💫 btw, I’m 69 and somewhat tech-savvy.

super weird. I followed the steps but there is no projection setting after click on general but only has apple carplay shows ON And I knew 2019 Rav4 does have android auto. once I connect with my Pixel 7 (version 13) the android auto wont launch
Apple Car Play was available starting on 2019 Rav4 models, while Android Auto became available starting on 2020 Rav4 models.
Strange, here in Europe there are thousands of Corolla's of the 2019 model that have both Apple carplay and Android Auto. And if its not installed an upgrade is available for under 100 euro, Toyota dealer will do the upgrade.... If you bought a 2019 model new at your dealer you could get a free upgrade later that year when the upgrade was out...

Hi Tahir! There may be some aftermarket options (that we typically do not recommend as it could cause problems to the vehicle). There is currently no update or retroactive program to add Android Auto to the 2020 Corolla. I am hoping that they may develop something in the future to resolve these concerns. Totally agree. The world's number #1 car manufacturer has no Android Auto on my 2020 Corolla. It's like having a black & white TV screen. Worthless!

If you haven't already, perhaps you may need to try a different cord, or have your local Toyota service department check and diagnose the connection/USB ports.
My projection setting is a seperate tab outside of the general.. only use able with usb...and it doesn't do anything when I use one

Good morning Terry. Wireless android is only available on the 2022 Tundra at this time. It is coming in future generations with the upgrade in Infotainment systems.
Thank you! But is it not easier if you just plug the usb cable and follow the instructions from both screens? That's all I do. Once you plug the USB cable, both systems respond to it and you just click on "Allow", "Continue" etc. That's it. Much easier. The way you explained it is a little bit more complicated. It is certainly an easier setup on Apple phones than Androids as many older Android phones do not have the app factory-installed and therefore none of the settings are on and active. Wireless capability only became available on certain 2023 Toyota models. Therefore, you would need the data transfer cable to initiate Android Auto or Apply Car Play.
Iam still having issues connectimf my samsumg galaxy s23 plus to my toyota corrol xse apex 2022. The message says this device is not recognised. Or it says check your charger connection on my phone despite my phone still being charged.

If your vehicle does not come with embedded navigation then yes, you will need to connect your phone to your vehicle to use your phone’s map app. Wireless connection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is not available in the 2022 RAV4.
My 2018 corolla has andriod selected in projection settings. The phone seems to be recognised via the cable. But no prompts open on the display screen. On my phones app the andriod auto set up doesn't recognise as the cable. Any thoughts? If andriod auto isn't compatible on the car I don't see why it would be in projection settings??
Hi Mitch! I am assuming you are not located in Canada, as Android Auto did not appear on the Corolla sedan until 2021. If the vehicle was not compatible with Android Auto, it should absolutely not appear in Projection settings. When you click MENU, does the Projection icon change to say Android Auto once you have plugged in your device? If not, something is wrong with your cord or the connection to the vehicle. If yes, what happens when you click on this button? Your apps do not appear? Once connected, your Google Maps should also appear if you click the MAP button on your head unit. Does this happen? Ensure your device is running at a minimum 6.0 software (marshmallow), you have the Android Auto app downloaded, and preferably your apps and phone are updated :) Let me know how you make out!
@@belletoyota thank you for your replying.andriod auto doesn't appear once selected in projection settings. I have purchased a new cable to ensure it was a data cable and when plugging it in the head unit display reads "no USB device detected". There are no issue with my wife's iPhone.. im stumped

Hello Belleville Toyota, I have a '22 Camry with the big touchscreen. Will the Toyota Navigation override Android Auto? Meaning, will it still give me directions audibly and/or on the HUD while let's say I'm playing music via Android Auto? Or do I manually have to switch back and forth between Toyota Navigation and Android Auto? I don't wish to use Google Maps or similar. Thanks in advance.
Android Auto will still play your music as it runs in the background of your navigation. In addition to this, if you are trying to use google maps and navigation at the same time, only the navigation will show on your screen.

Depending on the Toyota model you have, Android Auto became available on 2021 Toyota models.

I purchased a used 2022 corolla. My dashboard monitor screen works when I connect VA Bluetooth ,but when I first tried to connect to other things as well as the constant the toyota agent on the phone said that the only owner is still registered and I need to submit the registration paper yo them via email and they will change it in my name
I need that email to submit my registration papers to toyota.
The seller should unenroll themselves from the vehicle through their Toyota App. Until the previous owner has unrolled themselves from the vehicle, the previous owners is able to see your vehicle trips, driving behavior, last parked location, vehicle status, drive score, odometer, fuel level and distance to empty. If they have not unenrolled the vehicle or you are unsure, contact your local Toyota dealer for assistance.
