  • Cement Mixer Restoration Big Clean Up. I am doing a Clean up and restoration of a cement mixer / concrete mixer from the ground up. I use Pressure washing, wet sand blasting, Evapo-Rust, paint thinner. Take a look how this is coming along.
    🎯Subscribe: www.youtube.co...
The mixer was picked up by my father in the early 60's. The cement / concrete mixer has seen a lot of work and abuse from many members of the family. It is time to get it running again. I will start with the GE Electric Motor then move on to Jack shaft, Brake, Yoke, Drum.
    Lots of work to do.

Using your pressure washer as a blast unit is a neat idea.

Top Tip for cleaning rusty parts go down to your local builders merchants and buy a couple of gallons of brick acid/patio cleaner it does exactly the same job as evaporust but at a fraction of the cost

Just a FYI for people. Northern Tool Co. has the blasting attachment for pressure washers. They have 2 sizes, 8 bpm and 12 gpm. Here is a link for the 8gpm unit:

HI Randy, as you know I'm not overly safety minded, well I risk my fingers every night 😀, but perhaps a mask would be an idea especially if that is silica sand you are using. I know it is wet sand and only short term exposure but....

Randy that blaster worked real good a big improvement from trying to get that paint off the hard way, looks to have saved a lot of drudgery. I hate removing paint even worse than I hate painting, likely because I worked painting houses for a few months after I got out of the service until a 'real' job came along, not a fun job, my hats off to anyone who can do that job and enjoy it.

Timken Roller Bearings. That piece of old iron was made to last. It deserves the TLC you are giving it.
Never saw a water sand blaster in action. Looks like it made a difficult job EASY and was well worth the money it cost.

If you need to do a lot of sandblasting, go over to th-cam.com/channels/j_XaV1ss-qdD-lPUtTEcXw.html and find the videos of Doug building and using his own version. He is building a 70 foot junk-rigged boat in his front yard. He buys his sand in 3000 lb bags.
