  • Cement Mixer Restoration Repairs. Cement Mixer Repairs to the Frame, Motor Dog House and Towing Tongue. I Clean up and restore a cement / concrete mixer from the late 50's/early 60's. This part is the repair part of the restoration.
    🎯Subscribe: www.youtube.co...
    The mixer was picked up by my father in the early 60's. The cement / concrete mixer has seen a lot of work and abuse from many members of the family. It is time to get it running again. I will start with the GE Electric Motor then move on to Jack shaft, Brake, Yoke, Drum.
    Lots of work to do.

    Another step done, Winter is surely coming soon, over here we get much cooler days and nights, no frost yet but not too far ahead...
    You're a patient guy, when the metal is too warped or torn, I just cut it out and make a new part and weld it on, here, the neighbour right behind us is a major pain in the butt when he hears noise from my place, hope last time I turned him around will make think before he comes back and complains again... 😎👍

    "I might weld, grind, and paint ... but a body man I ain't."
    When you try to put a dial indicator on the drum, we will know you've been infected with FGS (fussy German syndrome). At that point we stage an intervention ... ;-)

    • @RRINTHESHOP
      @RRINTHESHOP  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      diggerop as a German i was thinking the same impressive work

    • @infoanorexic
      @infoanorexic 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@reinhardthielecke8689 It is looking good. I wouldn't want to use it, at least until the weather takes some of the new shine off of it.
      Someone, somewhere, made a comment about "German made, you know how fussy they are." Stefan seen it and chimed in ... wasn't long after he did some work on a mixer, and as a gag started to mount an indicator to the (very beat up and dented) drum in the last shot. In another video he did the same with a (running) slitting saw. I assume he was playing on that "fussy German" comment.
      Of course we know he didn't actually do damage to his indicators, but I can't help but wonder how many of his countrymen reactively soiled themselves at the sight.
      Anyway, thanks to Stefan, I started thinking of the (usually needless) perfectionism, that I still find myself tangled in from time to time, as a fit of "FGS."
      Those don't last as long as they used to. Start with dreams of perfection, in the end: 1)does it fit?
      "yes," or
      "mostly"
      2)does it work?
      "at the moment it does," &
      3)does it look good?
      "if it works, that doesn't matter"
      "like a mud fence in a monsoon" or
      "like a gold ring in a pig's snout."
