I love that both Naru and this Predator are young and have something to prove. It is the opposite of Dutch and the Forest Predator who are experienced killers, yet the predator's defeat is the same: It underestimated its prey and got outsmarted by it.

I would imagine that since it came on a spaceship, to hunt and kill, on a planet IT understands is filled with 'primitive' things. And it is basically BORN to hunt and kill, things it percieves as primitive, ALL it's prey is believed to be inferior, primitive and lacking intelligence.
They are sky gods after all. (in their own minds) the Predator is an excelerated being. Advanced being that celebrates hunting and killing above all else.

Naru is the perfect example of what a modern female protagonist should mean. She's so very well written. She's brave, skillfull and strong, but not by chance. She worked for it, had real motivations and was very intelligent in her approach, not only choosing to use her strenght. This movie is a kick on everybody that try to do a politically correct and inclusive movie, going above a good written script. Props to the creators, I really loved the film!

Unless you failed to comprehend the psyche of the predator on this movie.(or you have not watched the movie yet) It lacked experience. US Special Forces do not have that level of technical knowledge and skill of the American natives when it comes to understanding the wilderness and how to use primitive weapons/tools And by the way Dutch killed the Predator using primitive weapons.. .right?.....The team who made this movie did a lot of think tank work and logic to make the movie grounded the best they could. The 1987 film is the most realistic and simplistic way on how to kill the .(using a trap) Its gonna be boring if the Prey (predator) here meets the same fate. So the other option is to kill it by outsmarting it.That is why in this movie the predator is the Prey. because it turned out he got cleverly outsmarted. Great job. by the cast, crew and team.

Seen the movie and I have the DVD. Liked it. Part of the film is about some French trappers down from what is now Canada. There are a number of cities, towns, and geological features in the upper plains that have French names. As to why the French folks were there? It was for the furs as, at the time, central heating was yet to be a thing. Fur caps and coats were the best way to go at that time. There is also a reference to buffalos, as a small herd had been killed and skinned. Currently, there is a longing for those times when buffalo were in vast herds as before. So, then, Herford, Angus, or Buffalo?

Much to learn from this movie, the way the brave survived becoming so resourceful
l in nature- respecting nature - I don't doubt such an outcome; because in real life I had the immense honor to fight shoulder to shoulder with a Navajo woman.
I was a gunner carrying the heaviest of loads posible and yet at 5 feet something small frame that female soldier was my choice when I had to live for R&R in the heath of combat in Afghanistan.
That was not easy task...But that was an easy choice...
I was part of an elite Army ground combat platoon...I have been an Athlete all of my life ever winning accolades for every team or sport I was part of...An I had never lost a physical fight...We were highly competitive "Alpha dogs"
We already had taller really strong and qualified men wasted just by the physical demands on the field.
But I knew her, not the talkative type, and always carrying a knife wherever she might roam...
Just by looking in her eyes I knew she had it in her.
One day during a training run of over 10 miles with obstacles and all, and where others one by one fell by the side of the road due to exhaustion or injuries and out of dozens less than 10 remained ...
She paired up to my side I smiled thinking "you are really though, what a lesson you have thought to all of those blabber mouths "
She went onto surviving a huge chaotic battle where precisely her team captured one of the most important terrorists during the entire deployment...I smiled again...After all she was my choice when I was asked who was qualified to replace me...

Nice story. But "never lost a physical fight" gave it away for me.
I knew a lot of fighters, boxers, and other disciplines, Asian style stuff. Some big guys too, six foot 5 or more. But everybody, on a bad day can loose a fight.
A split second can be enough for that. Apart from personal experience. We also know that guys like Mohammed Ali, Mike Tyson and others sometimes lost a fight.
      Even the notorious Chuck Norris.
(i never got totally knocked out by anybody, maybe just lucky, but twice i went to the ground for a few seconds).

I think the scene where Naru has the Predator kill the lead French trapper would've been better if Naru had done it to Wasape, the Comanche who was a sexist jerk to her instead. Instead of having Wasape be the first one to be killed by the Predator, imagine if he'd run away, leaving Naru and the other hunters to their fate, even allowing Taabe to get captured by the French trappers in order to save his own skin, proving himself a coward. Then, Naru would capture him after Taabe's death, and we would get the scene with Naru giving him the speech about her being dangerous precisely because he doesn't see her as a threat. Being a fellow Comanche, Wasape would then be horrified when Naru whistles for the Predador, knowing exactly what it means (In Native folklore, whistling is a taboo that can summon demons). Finally, he would be killed by the Predator, the very creature he earlier mocked Naru for believing was real.
