Luis your ballerina is painted with such sensitivity and beauty that it brought tears to my eyes, it took my breath away, literally. The composition is gorgeous, the color sumptuous and the soft light filtering into the soul is breathtaking. Congratulations on a tour de force.
I honestly couldn’t have said it better myself. It was poetry written in paint, just beautiful, well, beyond beautiful.
@@dreamcatcher3861amazing painting indeed
I loved the ballerina painting.
I can’t believe the portrait of the ballerina didn’t win.
They all have merit, but that is that one I would want to own. That said the winner, was pretty spectacularl, my second choice for sure.
My first idea too. The ballerina, what a composition but also the face, so intriguing but tender. I will follow this man..
These judges NEVER pick the best painting.
I really wish that the shows producers would change judges each season. I'm so over these three.
I thought the ballerina portrait was exquisite 🩰
The veterans and ballerinas are exceptional highly skilled works of art .
I love the intensity of the ballerina after a performance. You can feel both strength and fragility...being spent, yet covered in the warmth of dappled sunlight.
Serena's model didn't seem too happy. Perhaps it was a bit about the small neck/torso which gave the painting some what cartoonish look.
I was quite impressed by the humanity of the soldier. Both the technique and boldness was incredible.
The winner's works are not for me. None resonated at all. But that is the way art is...different people prefer others.
Love the Jockey fabulous! Even the detail in the back ground is amazing!
"Looks like he is classically trained...BUT...I...I....like it". What does that tell you about the mindset of the prestigious world of art today?
Just that people have different opinions.
When I saw Nick’s portrait I gasped. It was so well done!
I really like Selena’s head, but the tiny neck made me think of the queen in Alice and wOnderland’s film. I think it would have been more powerful in scale. The colors are marvelous.
Yes, the neck was tiny. Wonder why?
I absolutely loved the picture of the ballerina wish I could hang it in my house.
Next time you upload this show PAOY do add a date or least number the episodes. I cannot watch these because I don't know which follows. I do appreciate that you have taken the time to upload this show, would simply like to know which came first, then next.
Yes, exactly! It would be really nice to see which episode comes next!
The judges have no clue that jockeys stands with their arms crossed a LOT of the time. They didn't lie that pose, but it was natural. I really liked most of them, for different reasons.
Awesome program! Thank you for posting to TH-cam. Hope to see another art competition soon.
I love they had 4 distinctly different styles of artists in the final; each producing masterful works. This series is so inspiring for me. I am eager to see the final portrait of Ms. Mantel!
The final❤masterpiece ❤
Thanks for posting these old episodes. They are just fascinating to watch especially after having watched more recent ones. It's just such a good show!!! Any chance you'll be posting the current series of LAOTY?
The face of the Hockey looks like an aristocrat, a really cool subject to draw.
This is exciting! Beautiful building and works of art. Fascinating content. All four are marvelous artists. I would be hard pressed to choose just one.
I loved luis painting the most but if you take the judges criteria into account Nick embodies it quite well, he’s someone who has develop his style by having new opportunities. His background for the painting was so beautiful it worked so well with the subject and the blank space of the canvas
Congratulations to all!! Beautiful choice!
Hello from Canada! Thank you for these competitions, they certainly showcase the incredible talent and depth of creativity of your artists. I find these shows so interesting and as a person who spent all his time drawing and painting as a child, it inspires me to pick up the brushes and exhibit some creative courage. As a military veteran, I was in absolute awe of your choice in a VC recipient and was almost brought to tears by the way the artist captured the essence of a soldier.
Ewan McClure is a master…….
They all great,, but Nick, has a great artistic style. The subject and the background blend well.
Ewan is a great artist. Awesome artworks!
All such talented people. Really enjoyed watching this and love the winning portrait.
Love the jockey/horse one. Those old jockey paintings AWESOME ❤😊
Great job ! Well done , all of you ! :) :) :) Now , my favorite is Loui's balerina :) . I was touched by likness and exposure of the fragility moments of the person who has to have iron will to do what she does ...and playfulness of the whole composition - beautiful painting ! Having said that , jokey was great painting , but in my oppinion not very balanced in terms of background , body figure and the face ... but , thats just me seeing it that way . The solger one was very well done .... I just missed some livelenees in that body ....And the last painting of the Liberty lady : I loved the look of her face , very sucessfull mix of seriousness and person showing trough. Now, the proportions to the body .... I get the idea , but still something else could have been done , but ok . That was the vision of the artist . Great job everyone ! :) :) :)
The thing about Nick is that he stepped outside of his comfort zone. It was more developed than anything we've seen him do in this show. I think that's why he won.
The layer edge was a little strong on the chin but very very nice. The neck was really off on the young ladies painting. The ballerina was excellent but may too big of a surrounding area but great and deserved a win as well. The jockey painting needed the horse in the picture not the background, likeness however was excellent. All were put under such a stressful task. Bravo...
Great artist thank you.
thank you so much for this very wonderful program. It has made me want to go back to the days when I did painting insteed of just use my art in my daily life and decor.
Nick's portrait is excellent, what a masterpiece 🙂
The Ballerina won it for me by a mile.
This programme should be organised in France. It would be a Hit 🇫🇷💟.
France doet not have so many quality painters to make this happen
The first two were illustrations. The third was art.
Nick and Luis for me. A hard choice, as both were superb.
I love the ballerina painting!
Nice work nice style, nicely developing impressionist.
Love the remark about having a small portrait done and how that would differ from "... the floor-to-ceilings images (that are)...a bit North Korean."
The artist who painted the ballerina was my favorite! The winner was very interesting, but not as much as the man that painted that in credibly touching painting
The jockey has the most interesting face.
Season? Episode? Please include that vital information
Beautiful final portraits. Loved Morris and Lloyd paintings for their spontaneous brushstrokes, color, capturing the subject, and composition. Tough decision but I think the simple beauty by Morris would be my choice. The piece by McClure captured the personality so well, however I think they were hoping to see some horse or racetrack in there. Selina's portrait perhaps would have bode better in the same style she did her self-portrait. Enjoyable, can't imagine how intense the pressure is.
they should have painted the same subject for the finals for a fair competition
I want to see new episodes please
Yeah, that's my choice too. Congrats
Love the analysis of Degas' "Two Dancers on the Stage" but is it "DAY-gah" or "day-GAH"? Really, find a frenchie and ask.
This is a re-post, is it not? Where is the next episode where we get to see the winners final piece.
Anyone has Luis IG? I loved his work
If that guy thinks fotos are cheating he should research the tracing equipment used by so many classic artists in history.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸🗽🇺🇸🗽🇺🇸🗽
With seasoned instinct and connoisseurship they chose the worst of the bunch.
Digger? Try Degas!
Jockey should have won
Too much window in the portrait
Yes, and the fact that he’s looking away is not a good choice. We want to see and study this brave soldier. It’s all window, uniform and medals, as if the man himself is the least important. An anti-climax.
Selena painting was ugly...the other three are way better then hers...even Jamie paint better then her! She should not be one of the finalist!!!! I loved the jockey portrait though...but its a tough call for the judges!
If you have two paintings of equal artistic and technical merit and one is of an attractive subject and the other is of an unattractive subject, most people will think the attractive subject is a better painting.
Sorry, Jockey portrait should have won it
agreed. that guy is right up there with the best
Indeed. A portrait is a portrait is a portrait.
rigged
ballerinas are smoke, also have ragged feet, which is hot
Fail. This was so wrong. They picked the worst.
JUDGES ARE BLIND. SORRY BUT ALL 3 ARE WRONG. gO TO RUSSIA AND LEARN TO PAINT PLEASE.
Очень круто!!
Had this guy drawn a black ballerina I think he would've won.
🤦
Pathetic, to say the least!
There’s always one troll
