Michele Opoku-Taylor should have won this contest, hands down. Too bad the judges blew it. She would have treasured the honor and, in my opinion, produced a portrait remarkable for revealing the boyish, awkwardness of her subject while achieving an equally remarkable likeness. RIP, Michele. 🥰💓💓💓🥰
I'm not one for sour grapes, but I have to agree with you. The 'winning' portrait looked way too angry to me, whereas Michele's was beyond stunning and refreshing in my opinion. Let the judges decision stand.

yea , u know art tho, at some point when 2 artists are just as good as eachother or several artists for that matter, the judges are literally just left with picking on personal taste over skill level. I also thought she shoulda won, given her daring landscape option and actually capturing the aura , as she said she would.
Daphne, such incredible bone structure!! She has only become more beautiful with age. In her younger years, she was conventionally pretty, but now she is truly magnificent

If you look at LeeAnn’s portrait, you’d think a 55yr old plus painted it. They said she wanted to show an honest depiction of herself but I think it just shows how some people are way too hard on themselves… the painting looks like a future version, maybe her mom. Someone give her a hug and tell her she looks great and not 30yrs older than she is.
Ashley's portrait (at least in this top 3) should have won. Very light and minimalistic style. Those who think it's easy to draw like her just don't know much about art. PS: Daniel's portrait had to go in the top 3. I'm surprised he wasn't chosen.

if i was a sitter, and just saw a bunch of artists with their faces in their phones, i'd probably just get up and leave. Why use a sitter then? why not just have the sitter email you a picture of himself. And also perhaps some grid paper, so you can be sure to get it just right. LOLOL Phones and grid paper. Feels wrong to me, but apparently they are just fine with it, despite sitters' complaints that no one is looking at them LOLOL

The only one I would have picked was Michelle's .I was not in the least surprised when Noel picked the collage, and I So wanted to like the other one, but I kept thinking police identikit. As for the other's the traditional one of Reggie was Almost there, the winning one looked like Secondary School art class, and the 3rd - well, words fail me! The ones of the old model. I have no ideal why they kept calling her beautiful. She looked like a Disney version of an old raptor to me! Such a Hard face! Elderly people can be Very beautiful, she is not one of them. But models are seldom 'beautiful' As for the paintings, one flattered her, the drawing was a poor likeness and the one they picked made her look like some harridan from Greek Myth! Come to think of it she Does look like some harridan from Greek myth, so maybe it was better than I thought! Haha

I loved ashleys painting. It was minimal in way, but had great likeness and a lovely lightness to it, which is very hard to archieve.

I just loved all the ones of Noel. They were my top 3. Tricky to pick a winner out of them, but out of their top 3, Michele was robbed.
