This is molkutal/molakushum.For molkushum no coconut,just pepper and last add coconut oil and curry leaves .I am also from Palakadu.Thotuka mango chamanthi.
Very good recipe is this and I am adding little coconut milk, it gives the flavour of coconut oil. It is more tasty with Adai dosai.
Only one suggestion, please wash any dals before using because in shop they are mixing boric powder with dals for avoiding insects.

Curious to try it and see what tastes like. My family hails from Irinjalakuda and this video's recipe is somewhere in between our traditional molakutal and our traditional molakushyam. We prepare molakushyam with dal and without coconut, and the tempering is solely with curry leaves. We do use coconut oil though.

Naangaal molakushyathukku thenga poda maattom. Mashikkavum maattom. Mix Vegetables pottum pannalaam like, elavan, chenai, vaazhakka, mathan , avarakka etc

Molagushyam, we do not use coconut…. Only pepper, jeera and curry leaves coarse powder..

U can add turmeric if u want ( just a pinch) but hing not needed ... It will spoil the taste of the dish

Dont use parasute coconut oil use fresh coconut oil mam.
Because my daughter is in Singapore u get parachute as a cooking coconut oil ... That's why I have used them .... It's not hair oil ...

Parachute oil is hair oil. It is not pure coconut cooking oil. So Don't use that. Use pure coconut oil only
