Good point. I have also noticed that the food I eat never or hardly ever goes on sale. Only the nutrient-poor, overly-processed stuff shows up in sales flyers.

My only problem is that I don't watch TV so I don't see any ads 🤪
I think if it comes in a bright packet I shouldn't eat it and it the contents are as bright as the packaging then I know it's just outright poison!!

I was dying, and doktors told me to go home and get my affairs in order. I was 40 and couldn't gain weight due to a mitochondrial disorder. I went to a Naturopathic doctor and he saved my life. Throw out the microwave, eat as much organic raw food as possible, no chemicals or preservatives, drink lots of purified water. It worked.

This should be tought in every school. We should be tought how we should be connected to the food what we eat. If the governments would care about our health only whole foods would be on the shops' shelves. if there is an aisle in every store called " health foods" then what is the rest of the store?

I am a living proof that food is the best medicine ever. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis more than 20 years ago, at the age of 28, with a toddler at home. After wanting to die, I decided to do everything to be able to live a life as 'normal' as possible. I took all sorts of medicines, went into protocols, was even a guinea pig... until some 15 years later, being near to have liver cirrhosis. What helped me was my son's reaction, telling he would give me part of his liver ! I stopped eating gluten AND dairy of any kind, reduced sharply sugar and increased vegetables and here I am, more than in remission, without pain or so little and most of all, I stopped the cancer pills I had been taking for so long !

I have been healthier than iv ever been in my life and at nearly 69 i can enjoy my life with no health issues. When a young girl i was physically very active and never over ate. As soon as i became a young wife and mum at the very young age of 17 my diet changed and not for the better, as i became hooked on over processed rubbish. Over the years i gained weight and started to get all sorts of health issues such as Asthma, IBS and many infections. I became vegan for ethical reasons when i read and saw the truth of the farming and food industries when i was in my fifties and have enjoyed good health since. We are what we eat, and like the very old saying goes let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. When we educate ourselves and know better, we can be and feel better.

I'm a Certified Holistic Health Coach and I know the power of food from first hand experience. My first client was a stage 4 glioblastoma patient who was told she would die in less than a year. Not only did the lifestyle and nutritional changes keep her well but the doctors had no explanation as to why after year one she had no signs of disease. I worked with her for 3 years and gave her the tools she needed to thrive for many more. I'm also a certified yoga teacher, Reiki practitioner, reflexologist, and active aging specialist. I have seen many miracles in my practice, none of which involved pharmaceuticals.

It is so hard to find the truth, you really have to look for it. For myself, i had no choice when what i ate changed completley. I was injured and had no income for 3 months.spent a whole winter eating rice, eggs, onions,
Many days id have only one meal a day, no snacks, tea and coffee to drink.
I noticed suprisingly i was feeling healthier and more energetic with less and more basic food.
So i started to add to that by buying beans, dry peas and lentils, Sesame seeds and blueberries, Sprouting for my fresh food, beans replacing most of my previous meat.
Its obvious to me hownthe different foods help!!!
Now i just eat this way and wouldnt go back to my old ways of eating.
Plus this way is very affordable for such healthy food.

I was told that at my age (70), I would basically be nonfuctioning or dead. Instead I am healthy. The last two years we started fasting one day a week and eating raw two days a week. What amazed me was how my moods stablized like they never had before. I was furious with all the therapy, doctors etc. no one told me just changing those few things would help me so much.

Many people here have gone Carnivore, Keto and meat heavy also known as Ketovore is a really great way to get a little veg but more meat into our bodies for complete proteins/nutrition. I'm a living example! I am Ketovore and my health and bloodwork has never been better in my life!

@SarahMontana666 Hi! What micronutrients would you assume would be missing? Keto isn't as restrictive as the media would have people believe. A healthy keto diet still includes fruits and vegetables. I only eat whole foods, nothing in a bag or a box, quit drinking, and stay away from wheat and processed foods. Also, if you include things like beef liver and sardines, you will cover any nutrient gap there may be. The only supplement I take is an electrolyte mix due to my training. Hope this helps!

Until you try it you'll never know how good you can feel. It's when there's no cure that most people head down this road, myself included. I had endometriosis and was given pain killers and the option of a hysterectomy. A friend recommended her nutritionist and my body responded immediately. Being completely pain free I started to take it for granted and the slippery slope of bad eating increased. Endo pain came roaring back. A colleague with recurring urinary tract infections also went to the same clinic and after years of being on and off antibiotics had complete relief just through changing her diet. Thanks for sharing! I resonate with your friend’s issue! I’ve done thorough research on how to naturally heal my uti (which I was told is from the bacteria Streptococcus agalactiae). Initially, I took a prescribed antibiotic but it had no affect at all whatsoever! They tried to prescribe me something stronger, but when I looked into it, there were immense negative side effects, even someone dying! I changed the way that I was eating but the symptoms got worse because the bacteria fed off of water and nutrition (like humans do), so I was intuitively led to go on a dry fast, which is when you starve your cells and they eat the dead cells, which also contains water (endogenous)! I can tell the progression since going on my fast, and once it’s over on Sunday, I will start back on my raw Whole Foods plant based diet!

I liked the concept of the video and empowering people to take their health into their own hands. I didn’t like how they still tried to villainize fats in the film, fats aren’t the enemy, sugar and processed foods are. I think everyone should figure out what way of eating is best for their body.
I have an undiagnosed autoimmune disease that doctors couldn’t figure out, it’s most likely RA due to an elevated RA factor. Anyway, I started on my own journey to heal myself after I went to a migraine doctor and she told me it was just gonna get worse and that my only option was medicine for the rest of my life. I said no and walked out. I found Carnivore a few years ago, and within a couple months I was off my blood pressure medication, my ADHD was better, no more joint pain, no more burning skin, no more muscle issues, no more sleep apnea, etc. After a year I lost about 50 pounds. The past year I did really bad and started eating the Standard American Diet (SAD) on and off, and felt like shit days after each time. I am finally back on track with Carnivore for over a month and am back to my healthy self. I also naturally do IF with Carnivore, and every once in a while do an extended fast.
The hardest part is definitely the social aspect, the shit food that is all around you, and how addicting companies have made their food.

I think every healthcare "professional" will just try to guide you towards some prescriptive medicine, which in the case of auto-immune diseases just partially alleviate some symptoms, but lead to ever increasing doses and consequently side-effects! There's a clue in the name of auto-immune, it's the immune system railing against something within the body, which is always a toxin of either environmental or food origin. I've heard of people having success on a vegan diet, but I think in this case and yours, it is mainly due to the removal of crap from the diet. Wish you all the success in the world on your path. Just because it's poison doesn't mean it doesn't make you happy or take the edge off in high-stress times. You're absolutely right that it is poison and needs to be cut out, but there is a reason people keep turning back to those poisons; they help people get through the misery of each day. When I ate super clean and exercised daily, the misery of living didn't go away, I just no longer had any way to ease it a bit. Again, you're right about needing to remove poison, but it is in no way as easy as you think it should be for people who are just trying to get through the day, rather than the decades.

The amount of sugar I consumed on a daily basis as a child staggers me as an adult. And my father was a BRILLITANT doctor, Harvard educated, and you'd think he MUST have known something about nutrition since his specialty was Diabetes! No wonder I was a fat kid; growing up fat impacted my self esteem to such a massive degree as a child and for the rest of my life, even though I lost the weight in my early 20s. I think my life would have turned out so differently if I had been eating eggs or fresh fruit for breakfast every day, something so simple. Now I would like to go back in time please to make that happen. And I am not at all saying my life is bad now as I am a really happy and successful YT creator, but I know there are so many things I would have liked to try over the years but just knew that as a fat person (even when I wasn't fat anymore) I wasn't good enough and would fail. Happy that you have found your way to thrive with good health. However, over my extensive reading of people's stories in the last few years I realise that nobody can say "my way is the best". We need to say "this way keeps me healthy." One thing looks pretty certain for good health for all - drop processed foods. After that, individuals can have issues with dairy, eggs, various plants, seeds, nuts, meat. Some people just need to eat meat to do well - not even necessarily all types of meat. Others are fine with all types of natural products (this is me - but I keep carbs low to avoid diabetes). Others are best only with plants - with or without eggs/dairy (although supplements can be vital). I just can't deny all those anecdotes from people saying "I am feeling so good, in such good health, now that I am doing X" Please have an open mind!

As a behavioral scientist, I think it’s important to point out how bad of a job the clinician did at 55:45 when the artist woman was upset. Instead of allowing the client to feel their feelings, dive into them, and then come up with their own reasons for change, the clinician acts as an expert who knows the right answer. We learn day 1 in Social Work that this kind of approach doesn’t work. Amazing that many clinicians do it.

I enjoyed watching this movie and I was familiar with Dr. Wahls amazing story.
However, I have to say that I felt that only half the story was being told. It's not just what you eat, it's also how often you should eat. There was no mention about fasting, intermittent fasting and the benefits...such as autophagy. It doesn't explain the insulin story which could be why the participants in the film were having trouble staying on their new diets. It also seemed to promote fruits, which are high in fructose and inflammatory.
I thought for sure Dr. Jason Fung would be contributing to explain.
I'm 58. I've lost 115lbs so far since November by following Dr Fung, reading his books (The Obesity Code) , eating a low carb high fat diet and intermittent fasting. I'm off my blood pressure meds, my osteoarthritis pain is so much better I'm able to be active again and swimming and my asthma is gone.
The film gave me the impression it was just all about will power and eating well. It's not. Dr Fung could have explained why.

    • @margochanning6868
      @margochanning6868 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

So, in other words, you were overeating and you are not overeating any more. Are you still obese? If you think fasting has nothing to do with will power, you are wrong. The reason intermittent fasting works is because it helps to prevent you from overeating. I lost 100 pounds without fasting and I have kept that weight off for the last 4 years. I eat fruit. I take NO prescription drugs and have NO chronic illnesses or diseases. I am 64. I am 5'4" and I weigh 115 pounds. You are eating a restrictive diet that includes restricting carbohydrates. I eat a diet that only includes restricting calories. I only eat enough calories as I burn per day. I eat a healthy mix of all 3 macronutrients. We need all 3 macronutrients. Stop demonizing or glorifying particular macronutrients. The REAL PROBLEM is that we make poor food choices - junk food processed food - and we OVEREAT. Our bodies' organs were NOT made to process such huge quantities of junk food. Intermittent fasting is a mind trick to get overeaters to stop eating so much. And restrictive diets like keto are a trick to make you focus more on your food choices. All restrictive diets are all about the magic pill magic formula mentality - from vegan to carnivore. The scientific reality is that calories (a measure of energy) consumed have to be less than calories burned in order to lose body fat. Bonus scientific fact. Fat has 9 calories per gram. Carbohydrate is around 4 calories per gram. Protein is around 4 calories per gram.

    • @jessicajohnson4087
      @jessicajohnson4087 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

@@margochanning6868 I really think you would enjoy reading The Obesity Code. And also The Cancer Code.
Calories in vs calories out just doesn't work for MOST people for the long haul. You are an exception ☺️. If it did, we wouldn't have an obesity epidemic like we do now because that is what we've been told to do for the past 20-30 years. It's what I was told..... time and time again. And I would lose weight, and gain it back. I would often say " Losing weight is easy! I've done it hundreds of times." Ever wonder why the TV show The biggest loser doesn't have reunion shows?
The language of the body is hormones, not calories. The body doesn't know what a calorie is. Hormones react to what we eat. When your insulin is low (not eating or fasting) your body switches to using stored food (body fat) for energy. It can only do this when insulin is low. Once it learns to use body fat for energy and learns to feed itself, the hunger goes away. This is why I don't get hungry during my 48hr. fasts.
The hunger hormones are very powerful. You can't just decide not to be hungry. Natural fats trigger satiety hormones and don't raise insulin.
Fasting allows your body to feed itself from body fat. It's what it's supposed to do and perfectly natural. It's also not a new fad or trick. People have been fasting since the beginning of time. All religions have required it for their followers. They called it cleansing (autophagy).
More and more they are finding benefits of fasting... even if you don't need to lose weight (Cancer prevention, Alzheimer's prevention etc.). Interesting stuff! I think you would appreciate the information in his books and lectures. I wish I would have learned this year's ago. No wonder I struggled most of my life. I get it now. I've paraphrased a lot of what I remember from Dr. Fung's videos and books.... and other doctors I follow. My life has been changed forever ❤️
P.s. There are no "essential" carbs we need. Unrefined, natural carbs have nutrients we can use and benefit from, but they are not essential. Google it😉

My life is a mess right now because of FOOD and medication I should have never been on. If my nutrition had been good, I would have never been on the medication. Unfortunately, the district attorney thinks that's all a bogus attempt for me to dodge a bullet. The important thing is that you are now finding the right way to live a better life,
Organize the mess that has become your life slowly,
One day at a time, and you'll get where you want to go,
      I believe it's health
Work with the positives of the things that happened in your life, even if they are negative things, but believe me they are never just negative,
We can learn from mistakes, voluntary and involuntary, but in this world we are conditioned to see only the negative side,
Information is all or nothing, and disinformation is even worse,
Surely we've been fed all our lives wrongly,
But our body is potent to self-regenerate and achieve much more in much less time,
I'm changing my life little by little, my story is not very interesting,
But today I am sure that my mission on earth is to help people better understand what our mission on earth is,
*Make this place a little better than we found it*
Wherever your best is, even if you don't know what your best is,
But know, Every step of yours on this earth is a story to be told by you, do your best, even if it all seems very bad,
Rest assured, health and food go hand in hand

I also used to bite my tongue all the time, since I was loosing control of my jar movements. Ever since I changed to the Wahls paleo plus protocol, those symptoms went away. I also have not had any relapse in 6 years.
I do take medication, but taking medication did not have any impact on my symptoms. They are meant to delay relapses.
The body is able to repair some of the damages of MS.
One thing that I want to point out is that we are all different and some of our diet approaches need to be fine tuned for our needs.
For me, being dairy free is important. I can tolerate beans if they have been pressure cooked for 30 minutes. I started baking my own bread, using mainly spelt flour. Eating a variety of vegetables is important no matter if you choose a paleo or vegan approach.
You may have different needs, but it is likely that there is a diet that can help you to at least manage your condition better if not even improve your condition. Give it a try! (Keep going to the doctor though!)

This was awesome, and backs up everything I know and observe. I've been on a whole food plant based diet for 2 years for health reasons, I have gallstones, diverticula, had a colon polyp removed and was morbidly obese. Now no more gallbladder pain and down 60 pounds so far. I love the food that I eat. This documentary contained some awesome businesses that I am hopeful that here in the UK we will start to see the same. It would also be great to start whole food groups like meeting at a restaurant once a month that will cater for us and spreading the word.

My N=1 is the exact opposite -- on carnivore. So there you go. You are N=1, I am N=1.😊🤔 N1-N1 = 0.

! @T-aka-T I hope you will consider moving to a plant based diet. One of the main carnivore guys in the U.S. has admitted he was wrong and he is eating carbs now. Our gut microbiome needs fiber. Only plants have fiber. If you don't eat fiber, your intestinal lining is the only carbs available for some of your microbiome to eat. Yikes...eat some fiber !!@@T-aka-T

@@trishstauble3461 Nope. 😏 I did the plant-heavy thing with keto, nearly killed me (oxalates and nightshades were the worst, but God knows what the phytates were doing to me). Have reversed about 20 years on carnivore. So thank you, I appreciate the thought if not the "warning" (I've done my research as well as my N=1 - and there are also a lot of vegans reforming.) If you mean Saladino - yeah, well, right - nah. 🤔 He exercises 3 or 4 hours a day to burn off the fruit and honey he added (but still eats mostly meat). And no - I don't need fiber either. Gut has fixed itself on carnivore. So, rest easy, there's no yikes about it, certainly for my N=1. Cheers to you anyway. I'm happy as a clam! Glad you are too.🙂

I wish Western doctors would institute even just a meager diet and exercise program for every patient before prescribing medications (depending on the problem of course). Why prescribe a medication for what the body can do on it’s own. It’s amazing how exercise has solved nearly every nagging ache and pain I’ve had. I suffered from chronic daily headaches/migraines for 20 years. 2 years ago I was at the end of my rope getting 25 headaches/month. I had nagging necks stiffness that the dr said was arthritis. Aerobic exercise cured it all. I went from overusing my prescribed medication and untold number of nsaids to nearly 0. Light jogging, biking and swimming has cured it all.

Standard allopathic doctors know little about diet; nearly zero learned in med school and what they are taught is wrong.

Sorry, you can't outrun a bad diet. But I get your point about how exercise can make lots of difference.

If you don’t like ofal like liver, then grind it finely, and mix in ground beef, in a 10:90 ratio.
As you get used to it, increase to 20:80 etc.

If you don't like liver it means you buy bad liver from unhealthy animals and that shouldn't be consumed. Liver from healthy animals has aromatic smell to it and tastes delicious. Some people compare its taste to chocolate.

If you back to early settlers &farmers 100 years ago, they were not dairy free. Have interviewed many. And they did not eat beyond meat or meat substitutes, nor do yoga or special foods. The original concept of organic was to not use pesticides. They didn’t’t do special diets etc. the animals outside of hunting was grain fed as needed. Yes, the cows did get out and eat some grass in summer, but they relied on silo food during cold prairie winters. The silo was grains & hay. They had huge gardens, & they were no vegans around. They did eat organ meat often. They made their own bread (with Fluor). They had no concept of almond flour or anything like that. These farmers were home stead farmers. The mental eating is from the idiot new class. And yes, you sometimes had gas & farted. They all lived to late 80’s and 90’s with only health issues late in life. More died of farming accidents.

@Vince White, you are right. The big difference is GMOs. Those farmers fed their animals non GMOs. They worked most of the day in the field, natural source of Vitamin D and they were not bombarded with television commercials about fast food. The choices of modern society are not that simple nowadays. Now this alongside with what children are fed in school there are giving the results that we see now. A sad state of affairs for American society and the world , because this type of pre-packaged foods have permeated other countries and societies. Thus the epidemic of metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, autoimmune diseases, high blood pressure, Chrons Disease, soriasis etc etc. If not, just watch all the commercials on TV trying to convince you to take certain medications, so you can talk to your doctor about it or you have been primed already that when you go to your doctor you accept it gladly and cheerfully, because that is what you saw on TV.

The emphasis in this movie is strongly focused on food which is just a part of healing. We may not forget the power of fasting and meditation as a more holistic approach to healing. Stress does not only come from eating bad food but I admit it's a huge factor. The world inside and outside they are intimately connected. We still live in an environment where a huge pressure is imposed on people which is a huge contributor of stress which is harmful for our health. Before we can eat healthy we first have to think about producing food organically and creating a clean non pollutive environment. The most important food comes from the kind of air we breathe. The environment we live in. This has to be the focus before being able to produce food that is healthy..

In times like these we need convert our wasteful lawns and backyards to permaculture food forest gardens landscapes with perennial drought and heat tolerant plants to provide food year long for our family, friends and neighbors. It’s healthy and better for us mentality/physically and the environment. You will get your vitamins C from the food you grown and vitamin D from the sun. :)

When I changed my body’s fuel choice from carbs to beef tallow and cod liver oil, my inflammation and diabetic issues began to reverse. I took a deep dive investigating metabolic homeostasis and mitochondrial chemistry to understand why the shift from carbs to protein only was working for me. I no longer get cravings for chips and ice cream bc the beef and meat fat satiates me. It allows me to do intermittent fasting easily, for even more healing.
