I'd say Mazda is really targeting the Jeep Cherokee, and the Outback. It will give people an option to buy a handsome rugged vehicle. Cherokee buyers complain that it's not the best looking thing and well Subaru makes ugly vehicles across the board so that goes without saying.
I hope this dude is carrying at least a Rambo knife in case a mountain lion jumps out at him. If he's out there walking in the brush defenseless it might be a problem.
CX50 approach and departure angles are actually 18, so not as good as the Forester OR Outback. Mazda missed an opportunity here.
The cx-50 is beautiful and powerful. It's still unproven tho. I wouldn't trust it the way I'd trust an outback xt
The Mazda will have a higher center of gravity. The Subaru's have boxer engines which give them a lower center of gravity.
