Good for you!! Keep up the great work! Jesus loves you. and so do others. Get rid of bad influences in your life and focus on helping others. You are beautiful just the way you are! God bless you 😘💕
I have done it and lost 41 lbs in 40 days changed my eating habits and kept the weight off. It's been 4 years. So she can suck it! Btw my doctor says I'm healthier than before!
Carl Aiello i’m starting phase 2 today and am so nervous seeing these reviews. I just want a jump start- as soon as it ends i will go back to working out regularly and eating in the maintenance phase basically. Was it hard to maintain? Do you still restrict any foods?
I've done this diet multiple times and disagree with almost everything you say....you must ensure you are using actual HCG. This is where most people fail.. I lost over 100 lbs and kept it off! you are mistaken. Read "Pounds and Inches" to properly educate yourself.
Ummm...I've done this diet multiple times but that's because I always gain the weight back. I lost in the short term, but it always came back. I'm never doing this stuff again and I've actually switched doctors because he promotes quick weight loss plans. Anyone who does that is a quack.
I've done this diet twice. I lost 24lbs the first time and kept it off and then a year later did it again and lost 21lbs. I have lost another 30 on my own and have 35 more to loose. I have kept the weight off for 3yrs. I am going to do it again in a couple of weeks. If you haven't tried it or have worn someone else's shoes, then you can't really say what it's like or whether or not it works. Everyone is different and will see different results. Open your mind, you might find something in there!
@@kristenstewart1250 I have done the diet as well in 2015 and lost 7 kg. I changed my regular diet to something much more healty and kept my perfect weight until the pandemic and an injury kept me away from training. I'm doing it agian right now and have lost 8kg and 3% fat. I have some troubles with how you presented the diet because nobody I know would do the diet without the propper vitamin suplements. I take a bunch of multi-vitamins everyday, protein shake and other stuff. I eat TONS of vegetables and I am full all the time and feel great. I have some concerns on how the diet (even safely done) reflects my blood test and overall health, but I feel great, I move better, sleep better, etc. etc. If you happen to have a good scientific study where people that did this diet are accompanied by scientist checking those health indicators, I would be super interested in seeing it.
Thank you so much for posting!! As a teen who struggles from anorexia and orthorexia it’s so wonderful to see you able to eat what you feel like with out any rules. Your relationship with food is what I aspire to have!! Thank you so much❤️❤️😍
interesting. My mother lost enough weight on HCG to come off her blood pressure meds. So, yeah the diet works and was "prescribed" to her by a holistic nutritionist. If you "aren't consuming enough calories your body is going to burn fat and muscle". Yeah, that's the idea here, to burn fat. consume even a moderate amount of protein is enough to sustain muscle BTW. completely water fasting makes even more sense to me, as your body would go into autophagy and regenerate itself at the cellular level. Abby is quick to demonize anything that works by "extreme means". If we were humans in our natural hunter gatherer state, we would be doing things like fasting multiple days when food was scarce, eating mainly protein and veggies/fruit available to us in our environment, and yes, OMAD celebrations with our tribe when we caught big game. Really sick of nutritionists these days conforming to the Standard American Diet (SAD) and giving people the "everything in moderation" talk. some people can't handle moderation, because they are addicts. you wouldn't give an alcoholic a little bit of wine and say "everything in moderation" would you? So you can't do the same with food addicts. People are addicted to high fat and sugar foods because calorie density triggers a larger dopamine response. When people who consume these foods consume a low calorie density food, they don't get a dopamine hit as massive as say, a donut. Even "green label" health advertised packaged foods are bad for us, with brands like Quaker Oats, cheerios and Kashi sprayed with glyphosate. I want to hear a nutritionist tell people what they need to hear, AKA quality food over quantity.
None of you explain what the HCG itself does for you. No shit if you eat 500 calories a day you will lose weight. The only reason you are losing weight on this diet is because you are forcing yourself to actually commit to the 500 calories due to being a part of a cult. Sure end result is good, but there are long term health effects of starving yourself to that point as well as possible side effects from the HCG itself. If you really want to lose weight find out how many calories you burn a day ( there are many websites that help you calculate this) and just eat 200 calories under that number. Every 2000 calories you don't consume = roughly 1 pound of weight lost. So if you eat 200 calories less than your number then you will lose 1 pound every 10 days. You just have to be patient and you won't actually kill yourself + you could literally eat whatever you want within your calories.
I just permanently released 33lbs from HCG over a few rounds and I feel amazing. Along the way I reprogrammed my mind to accept the new dietary habit changes. Thanks to this diet it's helped me give up my carb addiction and overeating by focusing on self discipline. Excessive weight is never healthy so get it off anyway you can. The only reason people gain it back is because they didn't change their habits 💯 I never had any side effects listed here. I'm grateful for this protocol because it has helped transform me and I now drink alot more water and low carb diet and no more late night eating.
I find it interesting that you pose the question "Does it work?" And then immediately answer NO. Did you try it? Do you know people that have tried and finished a round? I did multiple (3) short rounds of HCG after I had my 1st kid. Lost 50 pounds( went beyond the baby weight) and maintained that weight for years until I got pregnant again. If you are determined and healthy enough this can be successful for you.
Robin Trapasso appreciation for your feedback! That is very interesting, and something to take seriously no doubt! Hope you are doing alright , once again thank you for your feedback! 😄
Hey Abbey! I just wanted to say the audio on your videos has gotten a LOT better!!! It used to be so quiet that i always had to have my volume all the way up, now i have it set normally and i can still hear. THANK YOU!!!!
I used the HCG drops back in 2011 and lost over 80 lbs in a 5 month spand. The weight was dropping rapid that people thought I was sick. But it had a lot of “rules” with it like no more than 500 calories, but I did 1000 calories and workout a lot. So after working out it was about 500 calories or less.
Are the drops safe? I used to see them back in the early 2000s & always wondered of they are even safe and effective cuz I dont see them on shelves anymore. I feel like just about anyone would lose a lot of weight at 500 cals or 1000cals with activity.
Also weird question but did you lose hair on this diet? I hear people's hair sheds a lot when dropping weight rapidly. Curious if the drops helped reduce that l.
I was on it for 6 weeks and lost 48 pounds it works, I can't exercise so it was a good match for me, just need to keep eating healthy and you will keep the weight off
I did this diet - I was basically allowed to eat 2 tiny portions of very lean meat 2x a day, 2 veggies, and 2 small fruits. I was STARVING the entire time!
I have almost 3 times that just with my steak. Roughly 1300 calories, and that's minus the butter on top. So to do this I would only be able to eat 200 grams of steak a day, no butter, lmfao.
This was the only thing was got rid of and regulated PCOS. IT WORKS!!!! I’m healthier than ever!! All numbers on my bloodwork returned within range after multiple rounds of this. No side effects and sticking strictly to the protocol is the way to find success with it.
I’ve actually lost 32lbs on this diet and have kept it off.. anyone that’s actually done the diet and followed it to the T will tell you the same. And for everyone saying 500 cal is nothing yes y’all are correct it’s nothing but with HCG you don’t get hungry at all.. 🤷🏼♀️
I am in a middle of it right now and it's not bad. Just had two extra lean kebabs, a salad and a small fruit cup for dinner. Filled me up quite nicely. So far not feeling like I am starving, and weight comes off. My general feeling throughout the day is "I could eat something... but I really don't want to" and as an obese person, this is something that actually works well for me. I committed to 28 days of it and doing injections. I do agree that "you will lose fat in areas you want to lose them in" is a complete bullcrap statement and is only used as a part of a sales pitch.
@@Honey-Bee-25 HCG drops won't work. Anyone trying to sell you those is pretty much a scammer. HCG can't survive the stomach environment and is not absorbed. You need to take injections. People who did the drops and lost weight did not get any benefits of HCG. I did both injections and eating plan. Lost weight. Kept it off.
@@Meanee-d1o thank you for explaining! I always wondered how ir worked. How do you get injections though if you dont mind answering? Is it something done at a doctor's office? Or you have to find a clinic that does it?
@@Honey-Bee-25 Self administered. I get a week's supply preloaded into the insulin-sized syringe. Injections are very easy and painless due to needle being extremely thin. Disinfect, pinch the skin, inject. Doctor office supplies me with week's worth. So every week I had to go and check in, get vitals taken, weight/body composition tested, etc. And when everything checks out, I get another 7 doses, and a list of new recommendations when it comes to diet, like how to tweak what I am doing, etc.
I hear about these super restrictive diets it always reminds me of my yoga teacher training. We had one day a week where we were supposed to be on a liquid fast and one of my roommate's approach to it was 'I'm going to do the fast until I'm hungry then I'm going to eat.' Every time I learn of one of these new trendy diets I wonder what she would say. It gives me perspective in a world gone mad.
I yo-yo'd on the HCG diet for several years. I would starve for 3-4 weeks, try and eat zero carbs for anther 3-4 weeks, but could never maintain any of the weight loss without severe calorie restriction. I always ended up bingeing and gaining everything back plus more. I believe this diet is dangerous, and unsustainable.
My mom did this diet about 2 years ago, and she lost 65 pounds (29 kg). I was 15 then and I also started my own weight loss eating lifestyle at the same time and I lost 46 pounds (21 kg). I got a little careless after losing, and I slowly gained back a little of what I had lost (8 kg). My mom recently went back on this diet to lose a little extra of what she had gained back too (6 kg), and I am considering doing it with her. I'm scared of the needles and I want this to be sustainable. It isn't a starvation diet though. The HCG allows your stored fat to be accessed and used instead of the calories that you would otherwise be consuming. My mom said it didn't make her feel drained at all and she wasn't hungry. I liked the video though, I am doing research on it, so I appreciate this. .... Edit: I just spoke with my mom and I misunderstood this video. She did a program that used the HCG injections, BUT, it is done under the supervision and guidance of a medical doctor and it involves routine check-ups and meal plans with a year-long maintenance. Definitely, a terrible idea to be buying these injections and doing it DIY. Nothing is a quick fix, only a lifestyle changes work.
Surprisingly my doctor back when I was in my late 20s suggested this diet to me. I did it and lost about 50 pounds in the first 40 days. However, I gained it back and more AND I’m pretty sure it messed up my metabolism. Weight loss has been extremely slow for me no matter how clean I’m eating.
Give it a couple of months and I am sure some well-meaning family member will link this diet and more to me to help with my fatigue and troubled stomach (a.k.a. to them try losing a ton of weight within a short amount of time). Meanwhile I am eating normally for the first time in like 7yrs, and actually trying to find my equilibrium in my health beyond throwing out a whole food group at random. Realized so much when not constantly trying to follow a diet. How you eat, when, why, and what you actually like eating versus what everyone told you should eat.
I’m currently on the HCG diet and I’m going to start my 2nd month today. I kinda believe that it’s not really working but once I start something I like to finish it. I have a lot of visceral fat in my belly and my belly was hard but since using HGC injections my belly is soft and I actually have loose skin. That’s what I wanted in order to have my tummy tuck 🤸🏽♀️ so I’m happy🥳
I’m currently starting it and it’s at 800 calories. I gained 30 pounds when I went through my depression so I’m hoping this helps me take at least 20 pounds off. It is forcing me to learn how to cook but I’m definitely going to cut a lot of junk food out!
I did my first cycle and lost 20 pounds. I did not do the 500 cal diet. I did 750 which helped with hunger. But it was also around the holidays and I cheated alot. This is not a starvation based diet if you don't want it to be. My primary dr, not my dietician told me that I was healthier after than before. If you do your research you can actually eat alot more within the restricted calories than you think. I literally eat 5 small meals a day and I'm never starving. Not to mention I've changed my outlook on food and have healthier eating habits. I no longer eat out of boredom or emotionally . Really on your loading days you just eat what you want, in phase 1 you eat clean and watch the amount you eat (weighing food helps), phase 2 you just add food in and still try to stay away from too much of the unhealthy foods (which I did eat in small amounts from time to time) and phase 3 you honestly have a better relationship with food. I've kept the weight off between my first cycle and this one only going up a pound or 2 here or there and then losing it again. It does work and can be done in a healthy way. You can keep the weight off as long as you don't go back to destructive eating habits and you can survive on 500 cals and not be hungry and still be healthy. She obviously hasn't tried it and in turn her opinion (which is all this video is) does not matter. She is a twig to begin with even after having a baby. Not all of us are blessed like that. If it works for you and your dr clears you to do it then do it. Everyone has their own way and she shouldn't be putting some of those ways down. It way healthier than a phentermine diet so she can stfu
@Shannon Monahan 250g is an absolutely INSANE amount of fat. If you ate nothing but Mcdonalds for breakfast, lunch and dinner you'd still be below 150g most likely. That's wild.
I used it too for couple of months and I’ve lost around 45 kgs! It really works for me and thank god I maintained my weight perfectly and guess what I can Walk for long distance freely and I feel healthy and lighter than before.
I lost 40 lbs in 3 months doing HCG afterward I exercise regularly and eat healthy. Kept the weight off until now. Hcg has been proven weight loss since the 1960. This lady clearly did not do her research before this video.
@@fourleaf8055 I'm on the diet and my BMI was over 40. I've lost 39 pounds after only 10 days, and I feel great so far. Don't get me wrong 8 ounces of lean meat and two cups of vegetables per day is tough but it is well worth it. The one thing my doctor told me before I started was I had to be committed, not only while on the diet but afterwards as well. I had to do something, I couldn't continue to carry the weight and I have severe arthritis in my hip joints which is extremely painful. Also to your question about metabolism, I think if anything as you lose weight your metabolism will increase. Your body is going to become accustomed to burning off stored fats and as long as you don't reintroduce large amounts of sugar or starches you should be ok.
I’m a counselor and worked with a client a couple years ago who had tried this diet. She had false pregnancy tests like you mentioned. It took me so long to even figure out what she was talking about and when I finally got it, I (internally) was like, “What?!” Such a bizarre and messed up diet. Also love your sweater girl.
I did hcg diet and I lost 90 pounds in about 9 months and i kept it off for over 12 years!! This diet DOES WORK and can save lives of overweight people with health problems due to being overweight!! Your wrong on all points!! Hcg changed my life!!
wow. i had no idea about this diet until a few months ago and when i heard it I was shocked at it's ridiculous-ness. Thank you so much for the additional information on this craziness. i love your content abbey! and congrats on the merch line! it looks AMAZING.
I took hcg back in early 2000's. This really helped surpress my appetite especially since I was on such a low calorie diet. It's perfect for liquidarians.
I've done this 2 times in 10 yrs...and yes it works..i lost 61lbs in 54 days...i didn't control where the fat was lost..but for me..it was my face...and thighs..then stomach area..but stomach was the last to lose..do research and u can lose weight ....i did the injections...which are small diabetic needles..u poke ur stomach as u pinch the area.. once u get past doing 2 weeks .u are good to go
I have done it several times lost a lot of weight but unfortunately I saw a game every day is it back wanting to do it again but trying to find a way to maintain the loss
I’m over 55 years of age, the hcg diet has been remarkable for me, on the nutrient comment _ yes take trace minerals and Dr Berg Electrolyte drink pack in water, Biotin for hair and zinc, vitamin C; my blood work is spectacular and I feel amazing, down 42 lbs. one note, day 3 and day 4 are no fun so “plan” how to get through them with a lot to do, stay VERY BUSY those two days. Day 5 zero hunger and I added every other day intermittent fasting due to my age; blood work to your body’s chemistry is a measure to how safe it is for each of us.
The diet worked for me . I lost 40 pounds 8 years ago then I got pregnant with twins using In Vitro Fertilization. So I gained the weight again. Today I started the HCG protocol again this time with the help of a doctor. I hope I can loss the weight from the pregnancy. 😁
If you follow HCG Chica, she teaches the right way....not the way you are explaining with all due respect. I've lost 10 22 pounds and have kept it off.
Abbey it would be super cool to see a video about the science of losing weight safely, slowly and without completely messing up your metabolism. I know you're not a weight loss channel but I think there are so many people out there trying to unlearn toxic diet behaviours while still trying to make healthy choices for their body, and lose some weight, safely. Its hard to find trustworthy content on how to do that
Hi Abby! I don't usually comment a lot on videos. But I love your videos! I'm recovering from an eating disorder and your videos are super helpful! You mentioned in this video to slowly create healthy habits. Would you make a video on how to start those habits? I often feel overwhelmed when it comes to eating habits, eating disorder therapy got me thinking that I need to follow a meal plan to be healthy but that again feels like food rules. What do you think would be a good start in creating habits that are not focused on weight loss but in healing my relationship with food. Thanks!
I tried this diet in college where it was easy to skip meals (i.e. don't go to the dining hall) and my finances restricted me from going grocery shopping. I did lose weight, went from 175 down to 150. But I found myself becoming obsessed with "thinspo" and trying to get lower in weight. My self-talk was started to get negative, and that's when I knew I had to stop. Today, I weigh more than 150, and that is OK! I feed myself nutritious meals that are whole food plant based and allow myself to have the occasional treat. I've learned that I am worth it, and I deserve to be healthy and happy.
I did this about 15 years ago. It really started my restrictive eating behaviour and obsession with weighing food. And yes, I lost some weight (duh, I was only eating 500 calories) but as you might have guessed, I gained it all back and I’m still struggling with mental health when it comes to food and nutrition.
Hi Abby. Started watching your channel recently and really enjoy all the information. I am a nurse practitioner in the U.S. in family practice. Could you review carb cycling? It's popular now and curious about your thoughts on it.
I was soooooo close to doing this when I was about 16 (11 years ago). But something made me reconsider. So glad I did. It's insane that people even support this
I did a version of this diet.... it was pretty stupid! I lost a ton of weight super quickly. Developed gallstones and had emergency surgery. I also believe it pushed me over the mark for developing disordered eating. Surprisingly, I did not gain the weight back. I did spike and go up by 10lbs but then slowly lost that and more in a much healthier way. During the HCG diet, I lost so much muscle! I have now been weight training for 3 years which has helped develop a better relationship with food and a healthier lifestyle over all. The one thing that I can give credit to the time that I was doing this diet was the strictness of it broke my sweet tooth and I’ve never craved sweets to the extent that I did before, but that was really a product of completely resetting my taste buds during the time of restriction.... still not worth it.
Abby could you make a video about the weight set point theory? How do I know I’m at my optimal weight my body wants to be at and to just leave it alone ( not try to loose or gain) thanks 🙏🏻
I did this diet in 2013, I was 200 lbs, miserable, unhealthy, and I almost lost my job. Today I weigh around 125lbs. I’m studying to become a RD and no I do not recommend this diet to anyone. What I did was incredibly unsafe. However, what the video fails to mention is the food in the diet. Two thumbs up! I use these recipes to this day to keep myself healthy and MAINTAIN my current weight. With that said, ALWAYs speak with your health care provider for further guidance. The drops are garbage, not safe. Balanced diet and exercise is the key to long term success.
I assume you tested positive for an overgrowth of candida. Here's the CDC's info page on Candidiasis www.cdc.gov/fungal/diseases/candidiasis/index.html
SUGAR is likely your enemy. Not sure from where you get your sugar, but try eliminating all fruit (except those fruits that folks think are veggies, like tomatoes, cucumbers, okra) for a week and see what happens. Fungus loves sugar. ...and, use the Gov't as a guide, not a rule.
I have to admit , that I tried this, as a recommendation from my fitness studio (which i have quit by now). I gave up after a week of the diet, after I got to the hospital for breaking down in a train. after coming back from the hospital the first thing that happened was that my boyfriend took me to a nice dinner so that i would get at least some calories for the day.
I did this diet and lost 60 pounds over the course of 2 rounds. I never had any issues with it. I gained back 20 but overall, this diet works. I would not recommend doing the 500 calorie as that is quite outdated and can cause health issues if the dieter is not taking vitamins to supplement but considering the overall availability of other great low calorie, protein packed foods these days, there is no need to restrict so much. The 800 to 1000 works and I lost just the same amount as if I had done the 500. It's a great diet. Just a bit tough for those who like to eat.
That's absolutely horrible! I limited myself to 500 calories a day long term when I was in the middle of battling anorexia...and I lost my cycle, my skin turned colorless, and my hair started falling out. How can people be recommending this as a good diet? Plus using hormones like that? Oh my gosh...
I lost 95 lbs on this diet and completely changed my eating habits. I never felt better. I learned how to eat better and I never felt “restricted”on the diet. I was eating 500 calories yes but I was eating real food but learning to cook healthy and after I began a way healthier way of eating. This video is bias and not a good video for HCG🙄🙄🙄🙄
I actually had a nutritionist put me on this diet. The explanation was that the HCG was primarily to keep me from “feeling ravenous”. THe worst part was not actually the calorie restriction but the TYPE of macro restrictions. Basically you can eat celery. Lettuce. A little vinegar (but not too much!) oh, half a melba toast. And then, on top of the already deeply expensive injections and weird macro-approved foods, they had me spending hundreds of dollars on really intense supplementation to make sure that this 6 week thing didn’t “negatively impact” my nutrition. I also was supposed to drink at minimum 6 L of water a day. Minimum. It was awful, and I managed about 3.5 weeks of it before I had to call it. Absolutely not worth it. Needless to say, I don’t go to that doctor’s office anymore.
Hi Abbey! Love your videos and all of the knowledge, positive thoughts, and non-judgement. I would love to see a video reviewing Emma Clarke's what I eat in a day. I really feel like she eats meals and portions that are best for her instead of doing what others say is 'healthy and good.' But I would love your thoughts on it!
Whatever lady ! This diet works and I’m proof of it ! You lose the weight then your a adult , it’s your job to maintain it . It teaches your to not eat fat and and sugars ... this is common sense ... btw your not starving... your not hungry if you actually pay attention to your hunger. We are creatures of habits , shovelling food into our mouths when we’re not hungry ... I’d highly recommend people to do this diet , to get a jump start to a lifestyle change .. no ones going to do it for you ... blaming this diet after you stop it and eat like a cow , and expect it to stay off ??? Common Sense people... I’m extremely impressed with the results ... amazed ... you just need to follow through. The shot takes away all your hunger , it’s like a appetite suppresser .. you only eat just to satisfy your habits of putting food into your mouth ..
I did this diet over 10 years ago and it was absolutely awful. I lost about 40 pounds and then gained it all back and more a year later. I felt so exhausted, couldn't think, couldn't exercise and ended up binging when it was over from all the restriction.
The program is no longer at 500 calories. A medical weight loss clinic where I live says 900-1000 per day and if you do a light 30 minute work out you can eat 1200 calories. If you eat the right foods you will be amazed at how little calories are in vegetables and lean protein. I actually find it hard to make it to 900 calories and I feel like I’m always eating!! So of course always check with your doctor before starting any weight loss program. But I feel like this video is not accurate as it’s going off old information. ☺️
I know someone who did this a few years back. Lost a lot of weight (like 100 pounds) and not only gained all 100 pounds back, but probably an additional 50-75 pounds more.
You're missing the point that they were able to lose a hundred pounds. They should have been able to keep that weight off. Now compare that to people who try the slow and steady race and get discouraged after a month of working out and seeing absolutely no results. They never got the fat off and they just continue to get fat
Can you do a review on the 5:2 fast diet? My mum went on it and experienced weight loss and then gained it all back and then some while still on the diet
Did this lady even read about how this diet works? You only eat 500 - 700 calories, which triggers the hcg to go after your fat stores. You actually are using the calories in your fat throughout the day, so you get way more than the 500 calories. So as soon as people start talking about how you are starving on this diet, I know they didn't do the reading on it.
She doesn't know shit about it. You commented what I was about to write. HCG is not FDA approved for weight loss because just taking the shots alone will not cause weight loss. However, when used with dieting, it preserves muscle and activates the stored fat. I did it in 2016 and lost 27lbs in 2 months. I went from 160lbs to 187 lbs do to being inactive for a year and half recovering from a fractured pelvis. The doctor said it would "reboot" me. I lost the weight, go back into my cardio routine and sustained for the past 6 years. Read the book EAT TO LIVE. You can eat low calories and get your nutrients. Think of how much 500 calories of raw spinach is compared to 500 calories of chicken. It's not how much you eat, but what you eat. And sorry, so many people diet because they want to get back to lose weight but then want to get back to eating whatever they want. Well sorry, you can't eat whatever you want and not work to keep fit.
Can you do a video on "medium level" healthy habits for long term success and wellness? I find soo many "where to start" type advice videos on wellness (i.e. drink more water & go on walks/stairs not elevators) and anything past that point is all sponsored crap about powder for your smoothies and buy my gym guide. Help? :)
@@AbbeysKitchen Thank you! I also loved your How to Know if You're ACTUALLY Hungry video from the intuitive series. Seriously gonna follow those steps ❤️
The diet worked but not long term. I used this about 10 years ago. I was never ever hungry while taking the dosage, but once I stopped taking it, I became hungry again.
My scale battery died the day after the new years so I was just kinda like ok guess I'll just do this blind (Just for normal weight loss/muscle growth stuff, nothing to do with this diet)
@@fairychangeling8337 I have no idea how my weight is doing, but remember back in the 90s when noone had muscle tone? It's like that, so like just vague muscle growth I was planning on going to the gym yet tonight so I will try to check the scale there to see if it's been a net increase or decrease in weight or if it has just been straight conversion
@@fairychangeling8337 eeehhh, not really but then again I also only turned 21 like 3 months ago so I only remember half of it lol I'm pretty sure when I've been feeling ok I've been ok, but because of a few outside factors I cant attribute anything to just mindful eating, I can definitely say tho I probably should drink less lol but hey if you dont go on a bender after you turn 21 is it even worth it? But naw, in all actuality I've actually just been sleeping alot and getting alot better at dreaming which I know sounds weird but i literally used to not be able to dream at all so I'm pretty stoked about it
I lost 110 pounds on the HCG diet. So I don't know how it wasn't effective? I went through an entire pregnancy where I only gained 3 pounds from start to finish which would mean I kept the weight off. This was after losing all that weight!! Hell, I would have never gotten pregnant had I not lost the weight I did. My husband and I were together for 5 years with no pregnancy prevention and I could not get pregnant. My polycystic ovarian syndrome was so out of control at my heaviest weight that it virtually made me infertile. The weight loss practically cured the symptoms of my PCOS, and my menstrual cycles went back to normal which allowed me to get pregnant. So the proof is in the pudding, and I am the proof that this diet DOES work.
I am thoroughly confused about weight. A lot of what I’ve heard so far from many health practitioners like yourself is that it’s almost like once you gain weight you can’t go back. Your body set point rises but doesn’t come back down? How is that possible? I know people that have lost weight and kept it off for years. Dr. Jason Fung author of the obesity code says that studies show fasting lowers the body set weight? Can you clarify some of these for all of us?? Much love 💕
Rose Abbott I can do a video on it! And problem with those claims is they are very preliminary. You may benefit from my Stephanie Buttermore video where I cover this a bit!
Dr. Jason Fung is right on point. For the past 60 years we've been given this crap ass information that doesn't work. Now that people are finding things that do work, you want to attack it. I'm going to go ahead and Trust the Doctor Who runs in obesity Clinic. I'm going to trust the guy who is literally not selling anything. Not some Karen on TH-cam with no credentials
Red mountain weight loss is huge for this... I hear their commercials all the time on the radio and their rm3 program(and they call it) is an HCG diet... I always wondered about it since they get such great reviews but I never wanted to try it bc the idea of taking HCG when you're not pregnant concerned me... glad I was smart with this one... maybe do a follow up where you look into the rm3 weightloss plan and discuss the terms of theirs since it's pretty much this but is very widely known and regarded as "safe" bc of their commercials
Ahh this is basically the unintentional diet my mom was always on. Always complaining about headaches and "low blood sugar" even tho she's never been diagnosed with that issue, dizziness...
regardless of the diet name if you eat 500 calories a day for 40 days you will lose a bunch of weight. so yes it does work she is dodging that. and it is a fact. now all the horrible stuff she lists on and on. those are all true. it does not teach you how to maintain your weight. and is very hard on your body. and there are a lot of risks with it. for the HCG part of the diet whether you inject it. or do the drops under your tongue. if you restrict your caloric intake to 500 calories a day. you can inject yourself with or stick under tongue any thing you like you will still lose a bunch of weight. it is a placebo effect to occupy your mind that your are starving yourself.
My former boss fell for this. He did it, lost the weight, and gained it all back (as expected). It put his body through a lot with the excessive calorie restrictions.
Ive never lost weight with anything... I exercise very regularly and have very healthy eating habits... I gave up and just accepted it... Im not body obsessed.... I lost all of my extra 15 pounds on hcg diet... Not very difficult to do .. rhats the only thing that worked... Ive not had any side effects. I think most film stars do it too .. they just tell you they increased 3 pounds on their dumbell routine for a minute and a half... And you keep wondering and feeling low... I was there...
If I’m remembering correctly, Medifast is now called Optavia and is an MLM system where you sign up under a “coach.” It’s expensive prepackaged foods and extremely low calorie.
@@AChickandaDuck my stepmom did it in 2002 and her doctor made her do it. She was prediabetic and it was supposed to reverse her diabetes. She lost over 100 lbs in a few months. Then she immediately gained it all back and now has full type 2 diabetes with kidney failure and her feet are numb. So, like, I don't think it works?
I wish this video had been around 11 or 12 years ago when I got desperate enough to try the HCG diet. I'll try to explain my experience with it, but it's complicated by an illness that was sort of the whole reason I got desperate enough to try such a crazy diet in the first place. Thank you for spreading the word about this awful diet though. Some of my story might be a little graphic and triggering. So, a bit of background. My illness probably started when I was 12, but it wasn't that bad until getting mono worsened it when I was 20. Basically I was experiencing some bad days with intense exhaustion and muscle and joint pain for seemingly no reason. The bad days happened a lot more often after getting mono. Up until then I could eat 2000 calories a day easily without gaining weight, unless I was spending too much time in front of the tv. After the mono some weight started to creep on slowly, so I cut my calories to 1500 a day and started exercising more, which was very difficult because of how terrible I was feeling. Only problem was it didn't stop the weight gain, and then I got pregnant. I actually didn't gain a lot while pregnant and was only 20 lbs over my ideal weight after my first was born, not bad for having begun the weight gain even before the pregnancy. For the next year and a half I was breastfeeding, eating 1500 calories a day, and exercising to take the weight off, but the scale kept going up instead. My health got much worse too. I was extremely exhausted, in a lot of pain nearly every day, and digestive issues developed and quickly worsened. Once I stopped breast feeding when my kid was a year and a half old I dropped my calories to 1000 per day and sometimes less, partly from dieting and partly because I was very often sick to my stomach. It got to the point where I would eat breakfast, feel sick, skip lunch, force myself to eat dinner, spend the night wanting to throw up, and then finally in the morning throw up both my undigested breakfast and dinner from the day before. If I managed to keep my food down I'd end up with diarrhea instead. My weight kept going up, and I found myself collapsing after exercise, too tired and in too much pain to stand. Then one day I collapsed on the kitchen floor in the middle of making dinner and just bawled until my husband came home and scraped me off the floor. Every muscle and joint felt like they were on fire, and I was so deeply exhausted I wondered if that was what dying felt like. I was 75lbs overweight at that point and sick as a dog, so my husband and I scraped together enough money for me to see a doctor. The doctor (who should never have been given a medical license) listened to everything I've written above, then said "Look, you can make all the excuses you want, but you've allowed yourself to become severely overweight. It's simple, lose the weight and your digestive issues will clear up, and your joints will stop hurting. Eat less, eat healthier, and exercise more. Stop crying." Then I was sent home without a single test done to see if anything was wrong with me. It wasn't long after that I heard of the HCG diet. I knew I shouldn't be gaining weight eating 1000 calories or less a day, especially since half the time I'd throw my food back up or it would run right through me. My doctor was an idiot, but I was desperate and let the "eat less" part of his orders influence my decision to try the diet. I thought I'd struggle with the it more than I did, but I took to eating 500 calories a day pretty well for the most part. I was only hungry toward the end of round one because my digestive issues improved quite a bit. My muscle and joint pain even improved a little, but not enough to get excited about. I lost 18lbs during round one and kept it off for the next six months while waiting to start round two. I had a fairly hard time getting my calories back up like I was supposed to though. Over 1000 and I would start having problems digesting my food again. Then I was dumb enough to push my luck and try for round two to lose more weight. The second time around I was hungry all the time, had constant headaches, and generally felt terrible, so I had to quit halfway through without losing any more weight. Afterwards I had the worst time getting back up to just 700-800 calories a day, my digestive issues came back worse than ever, half my hair fell out, and my weight kept going up until I topped out at 235lbs. I eventually improved my condition some by giving the double bird to anyone who tried to give me advice on what to do. I ate whatever I wanted and thought I could hold down no matter what it was, until I was only sick to my stomach half the time instead of 100% of the time. After a while I finally looked for help again and saw an MD turned Naturopath. He helped a little but I had to move to another state and could no longer afford to see another doctor like him regularly for several years. That started an odd journey of trying all kinds of weird things and restrictive diets until I had to resort back to my double bird policy on all outside advice again. To cut the rest short, I eventually fixed my digestive issues and now eat a balanced, mostly unrestricted diet consisting of 1000 - 1500 calories a day, depending on how much I feel I can eat. In the last couple years I dropped 18 pounds without trying, which is strange because I am often bedridden from the exhaustion and full body pain I could not cure. I have not had a pain free day in the last 12 years. Any doctors I have seen after the MD/Naturopath refuse to give me a proper diagnosis, and usually refuse to do any tests because they think like the first doctor mentioned, that I'm lying about all of my symptoms and my weight is the cause of them if they exist. One doctor completely went against the grain, checked my thyroid levels, and put me on thyroid medication that did nothing to help, and that's the best care I've recieved so far from a normal MD. I'm on my own again until I can afford to see another doctor, not that I even want to because I have a lot of doctor horror stories that weren't even mentioned here. I will never be desperate enough to try the HCG diet again though, so there's that.
Is anyone else seeing a huge Cobs bread logo at the 0:13 mark? I assume that was an error? Admittedly I watched the whole thing to see if there was some sort of link between this weird diet and bread products! 😂
This diet is the only diet that has ever worked for me. My regular doctor supports my decision to do this diet. I’ve lost 54lbs so far. This has put me in better health and I have learned a lot about what to eat going forward so I don’t gain. I don’t know where you got your information on for this video but maybe look a little more into it. It has completely changed my life for the better. I no longer have swelling from my arthritis. The weight was very hard on my joints. I didn’t feel good and my symptoms from fibromyalgia are complete gone. I think my weight had something to do with the pain and swelling I was constantly in. Diet is not always about looking better, I feel better. And if this diet helps someone else then it should be out there for them to try with medical supervision of course. It’s very hard to take this video seriously from a person that has never done it.
I noticed your post was a year ago, how are you now? I started the diet 10 days ago and I've lost 39 pounds so far. I have terrible arthritis in my hip joints and the pain has begun to subside as I loose wait. Looking forward to your response!
@@tonymorrow3308 it’s been a definite life style change after this. I cut out sugar and do very low carbs now. I’m so used to eating this way from the HCG diet.
Your points are 100% true but the statements in regards to results or digression are made somewhat in a vacuum. With proper supplementation of various vitamins or hormones and a regular exercise routine an individual can see outstanding results while shaping lifestyle habits that stick even after an individual is no longer taking hcg as a supplement. You also should consider the effect on motivation with individuals that see results in short periods. Often it inspires people to continue making positive changes to diet, exercise regimens and overall health. Yes, without hcg and a tapered reduction in calories plus exercise can achieve the same but the transition period is often much longer which in some cases demotivates the person as their perception of improvement versus cost.
My parents “let” me/ strongly encouraged me to go on this diet at FIFTEEN!! At the time I was a ballet dancer working out for around FIVE hours a night. But of course, they had nothing to do with the fact that I developed an eating disorder, nothing at all!! 🙄 of course I dropped a shit ton of weight (getting me to underweight) and then gained it all back when we stopped. It was fucking abusive.
My aunt did this diet and landed herself type 1 diabetic. She later tried keto and landed herself in the ER because ketosis is super dangerous for a diabetic.
Concearning the safty of this diet: I would also be afraid of possible refeeding syndrome after eating only 500cal! (If the person was to increase the calories to quickly after the 2weeks or if they decided to stop during those and eat normal amounts imdeatly again)
Refeeding syndrome is particularly dangerous with respect to increase carbohydrate consumption and the electrolyte imbalance that causes. After the diet, you do not consume carbohydrates for 3 weeks. You increase your fat and protein intake. You slowly add carbs back until you find the proper balance where your scale doesn't move after you've eaten carbs. For me, that was 50 grams. That is now my personal Max for carbohydrate consumption in a day.
I don't believe it is healthy, just by the fact it isn't enough. For the rest idk but everyone would be hungry i believe with portions and food combinations as she showed in the video..
Can you review a Love Sweat Fitness what I eat in a day? I LOVE her but she's so opposed to sugar and really into cutting out certain foods and I'm curious what you would think about it!
Yes, please! Also it might help to note that part of her nono foods are a result of her hypothyroidism. She drinks wine and isn’t like 100% psycho about sugar like some others I’ve seen, so I would be super curious about your take, Abbey!
This diet works, for ME. My goal was to get rid of 10 lbs fast and train my brain to expect minor change in eating my habits, i.e., veggies with every meal; less bad fat, sugar and carbs;limited intake of alcohol; and, unnecessary snacking, etc. I also despite deliberately strenuous exercise. So, the science of adding HCG injections makes perfect sense to me. This diet, however, is not for the weak. YOU MUST CHANGE YOUR SHIT (lifestyle)... FOREVER! I don't disagree with anyone who says this diet doesn't work, because that is certainly the case FOR THAT PERSON. Lucky for me, a menopausal, Black woman (...who entertains often, having to cook all kinds of "weight-gaining stuff), I an anew and no longer have an unhealthy relationship with food. It wasn't easy, tho. ...but there isn't a fuq'n thing that tastes better than the feeling of being thinner.
Slow gradual weight loose is every body’s ideal goal, but for some or a lot of us it’s is almost impossible! This diet is not more disorganized having a heart attack or a diabetic comma! So any effort you make on loosing weight it’s a great effort! This diet is for those that need and want to loose drastic weight but please consult your doctor! This diet under your doctor supervision it’s a great way to start specially if you want to see fast results! Better than gastric surgery in my opinion but I am no doctor
Hi Abbey, is it ever a good idea to eat each meal BEFORE feeling hungry? I started doing this while travelling because of time differences recently and found that I never really crave food anymore including the temptation to snack if I eat before I get hungry.
This reminds me of "health" related MLMs. Spend a ton of money because of a promise of fast effortless weight loss. Only to find that to be "successful" you have to starve for 8-days to "jump-start" your loss. 500 calories a day is unthinkable and scary as heck.
Not sure how so many people can say the weight they lost stayed off. I've done this diet at least 5 times over 4 years and each time I experienced short term weight loss. It came right back despite my efforts to eat healthy and exercise. So, I can attest that this diet is crap.

I lost 15kg 10 years ago and kept it off. Eating better forever
I've done this diet multiple times and disagree with almost everything you say....you must ensure you are using actual HCG. This is where most people fail.. I lost over 100 lbs and kept it off! you are mistaken. Read "Pounds and Inches" to properly educate yourself.
If you have to do a diet multiple times, it didn't work.
@@cristagalli96 read 'pounds and inches' you'll understand its a 23 day plan and you need multiple rounds to lose more than 20-25lbs.
Which is a reputable sublingual hcg drop?
Ummm...I've done this diet multiple times but that's because I always gain the weight back. I lost in the short term, but it always came back. I'm never doing this stuff again and I've actually switched doctors because he promotes quick weight loss plans. Anyone who does that is a quack.
@EdwardRocks01 you have to do it in cycles 6wks on 6wks off off your body gets use to it because it's a natural hormone.
Thanks for your testimony! This is good to hear
I have some concerns on how the diet (even safely done) reflects my blood test and overall health, but I feel great, I move better, sleep better, etc. etc. If you happen to have a good scientific study where people that did this diet are accompanied by scientist checking those health indicators, I would be super interested in seeing it.

interesting.
I agree
You guys’ comments have been so encouraging. Do you know how many calories you ate once you were off the diet ?

I find it interesting that you pose the question "Does it work?" And then immediately answer NO. Did you try it? Do you know people that have tried and finished a round? I did multiple (3) short rounds of HCG after I had my 1st kid. Lost 50 pounds( went beyond the baby weight) and maintained that weight for years until I got pregnant again. If you are determined and healthy enough this can be successful for you.

That’s a great idea 💡
Interesting so you are more then the protocol and still lost the same amount?
Have you kept the weight off?
Are the drops safe? I used to see them back in the early 2000s & always wondered of they are even safe and effective cuz I dont see them on shelves anymore. I feel like just about anyone would lose a lot of weight at 500 cals or 1000cals with activity.
Also weird question but did you lose hair on this diet? I hear people's hair sheds a lot when dropping weight rapidly. Curious if the drops helped reduce that l.
Was the HCG doctor prescribed? Did you have to give yourself injections?
Wowwww. I did this diet in HIGH SCHOOL. I lost a ton of weight of course but gained it all back and more. I regret putting my body through it.
❤❤❤
I did too - for awhile, actually. It's completely unsustainable.
Alyssa Ann sorry you had to go through that 😞
Same. My family doctor actually recommended it to me in my early 20s. Lost a ton of weight, but it was not sustainable in any way.
Same!

What are you suppose to eat with 500 calories!! That's insane!
I know right 😱
I did this diet - I was basically allowed to eat 2 tiny portions of very lean meat 2x a day, 2 veggies, and 2 small fruits. I was STARVING the entire time!
Jigo insanity is right!
My friend did this diet, for breakfast: black coffee, for lunch and dinner: 60grms of chicken breast and a tomato. INSANE.
You could load up on veggies and never feel satisfied. Sounds like a nightmare
500 calories is literally a snack for me lmao
I eat more than that for breakfast.
@Peter Rabitt dude, can you share the recipe of that smoothie ?! :D I need a smoothie that rich in my life lol
I have almost 3 times that just with my steak.
Roughly 1300 calories, and that's minus the butter on top. So to do this I would only be able to eat 200 grams of steak a day, no butter, lmfao.
Because you have no control
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This was the only thing was got rid of and regulated PCOS. IT WORKS!!!! I’m healthier than ever!! All numbers on my bloodwork returned within range after multiple rounds of this. No side effects and sticking strictly to the protocol is the way to find success with it.

I yo-yo'd on the HCG diet for several years. I would starve for 3-4 weeks, try and eat zero carbs for anther 3-4 weeks, but could never maintain any of the weight loss without severe calorie restriction. Look up HCG Chica, she’s kept the weight off for years abs has interviewed others who have as well.
I liked the video though, I am doing research on it, so I appreciate this.
....
Edit:
I just spoke with my mom and I misunderstood this video.

Realized so much when not constantly trying to follow a diet. How you eat, when, why, and what you actually like eating versus what everyone told you should eat.
Liz D. I’m glad you’re focusing on what is right for you!
250g of fat??! I got a fever just thinking about that omg 😷
aurelialifts 😬

Can I ask you can anybody do it? Will a dr give somebody like me who has a BMI over 30? How much does it cost? And does it destroy metabolism?
The only way I lost weight and kept it off is cutting out alcohol, making my own food, and exercising between 3-4 week.

What hcg drops are you on?
The diet worked for me . I lost 40 pounds 8 years ago then I got pregnant with twins using In Vitro Fertilization. So I gained the weight again. Today I started the HCG protocol again this time with the help of a doctor. I hope I can loss the weight from the pregnancy. 😁
If you're already eating low calorie, why do you need drops?
If you follow HCG Chica, she teaches the right way....not the way you are explaining with all due respect. I've lost 10 22 pounds and have kept it off.
Abbey it would be super cool to see a video about the science of losing weight safely, slowly and without completely messing up your metabolism. I know you're not a weight loss channel but I think there are so many people out there trying to unlearn toxic diet behaviours while still trying to make healthy choices for their body, and lose some weight, safely. Its hard to find trustworthy content on how to do that
Ciara sure thing!
Samantha Valentine ugh sorry you had to deal with it 😞
Hi Abby. Started watching your channel recently and really enjoy all the information. I am a nurse practitioner in the U.S. in family practice. Could you review carb cycling? It's popular now and curious about your thoughts on it.
RAQUEL DANKO sure!
I was soooooo close to doing this when I was about 16 (11 years ago). But something made me reconsider. So glad I did. It's insane that people even support this
Amanda C I’m so glad you didn’t!! ❤️😊
The one thing that I can give credit to the time that I was doing this diet was the strictness of it broke my sweet tooth and I’ve never craved sweets to the extent that I did before, but that was really a product of completely resetting my taste buds during the time of restriction.... still not worth it.
katelyn jordan ugh sorry you had to go through that
Abby could you make a video about the weight set point theory?

You're WEAK.

Liz Zernik sure!
Hannah Mayhorn ugh sorry you had to deal with that 😞
I lost 95 lbs on this diet and completely changed my eating habits.
Rachel Eberle thanks for the suggestion!
Sorry, where's your lab coat? Lol. Yes, this diet absolutely works. My post menopausal fairy godmother.
A B sorry you had to go through that 😞
The program is no longer at 500 calories.
Kat Lagmay ugh that’s awful
You're missing the point that they were able to lose a hundred pounds. They should have been able to keep that weight off. Now compare that to people who try the slow and steady race and get discouraged after a month of working out and seeing absolutely no results. They never got the fat off and they just continue to get fat
Can you do a review on the 5:2 fast diet? My mum went on it and experienced weight loss and then gained it all back and then some while still on the diet
Tom Kennedy on my list
Help? :)

Bro only gaining 3 pounds during pregnancy is NOT good.

Lexi Love so awful
I was wondering what their program consisted of. RM3 is HCG? I too see their adds all the time. To be honest, I find them a bit obnoxious.
Ahh this is basically the unintentional diet my mom was always on. Always complaining about headaches and "low blood sugar" even tho she's never been diagnosed with that issue, dizziness...
Tay ugh that’s awful
regardless of the diet name if you eat 500 calories a day for 40 days you will lose a bunch of weight. so yes it does work she is dodging that. and it is a fact. now all the horrible stuff she lists on and on. those are all true. it does not teach you how to maintain your weight. and is very hard on your body. and there are a lot of risks with it. for the HCG part of the diet whether you inject it. or do the drops under your tongue. if you restrict your caloric intake to 500 calories a day. you can inject yourself with or stick under tongue any thing you like you will still lose a bunch of weight. it is a placebo effect to occupy your mind that your are starving yourself.
My former boss fell for this. He did it, lost the weight, and gained it all back (as expected). It put his body through a lot with the excessive calorie restrictions.

Chels W oh that brings me back
I wish this video had been around 11 or 12 years ago when I got desperate enough to try the HCG diet.
SO basically if you want chronic health problems and conditions, go on this diet. WOW I cant believe a doctor came up with this!!!
Is anyone else seeing a huge Cobs bread logo at the 0:13 mark? I assume that was an error? Admittedly I watched the whole thing to see if there was some sort of link between this weird diet and bread products! 😂
Candice Eisner I saw it too lol
@@familyofgeniuses haha sounds legit
Also, I had hypothyroidism. My doctor with blood work said my thyroid is now within normal levels after doing this diet.
I noticed your post was a year ago, how are you now? I started the diet 10 days ago and I've lost 39 pounds so far. I have terrible arthritis in my hip joints and the pain has begun to subside as I loose wait. Looking forward to your response!
@@tonymorrow3308 I’m down over 90lbs total. I stopped HCG Nov 2020. I’ve maintained so far. I do fluctuate 5 lbs or so but I feel so much better now.
@@transamgirlie Thanks for the quick response. That's inspiring!
@@tonymorrow3308 it’s been a definite life style change after this. I cut out sugar and do very low carbs now. I’m so used to eating this way from the HCG diet.
This was one of those "hi, I am Abbey Shart" vids 😂
Please review the Isagenix cleanse please!
Jamie Luv 👍🏼
Sara Cat Williams I’m so sorry you dealt with that 😞 that’s terrible
Hey Abbey! I really love your videos! Could you please review the "Fast Metabolism Diet"? Thank you so much for your content!
Rita Leão sure!
@@AbbeysKitchen thank you :)
My aunt did this diet and landed herself type 1 diabetic. She later tried keto and landed herself in the ER because ketosis is super dangerous for a diabetic.
RxOxyKitten yikes
Would you mind looking at Dr Dray's "what I eat in a day"
It looks super healthy but I feel like I would be so hungry after each meal 😢
How can it be looking super healthy, when she looks super sick...
Marianna Lucas I’ll check it out!
Yes, please! Also it might help to note that part of her nono foods are a result of her hypothyroidism. She drinks wine and isn’t like 100% psycho about sugar like some others I’ve seen, so I would be super curious about your take, Abbey!
You always get a like from me even before I watch your videos haha 🙌
Allanah Hickey thank you!!
Allanah Hickey I always do the same thing! 😊

Karen Hsu if it’s the only time to eat and you know you’ll be starving before your next opportunity to eat then I would at least have something small!
This reminds me of "health" related MLMs. Spend a ton of money because of a promise of fast effortless weight loss. Only to find that to be "successful" you have to starve for 8-days to "jump-start" your loss. 500 calories a day is unthinkable and scary as heck.
Bridget McArthur for sure!
Not sure how so many people can say the weight they lost stayed off. I've done this diet at least 5 times over 4 years and each time I experienced short term weight loss. It came right back despite my efforts to eat healthy and exercise. So, I can attest that this diet is crap.
