    What do you think of the goggles? Need more DVR input please. Also, I should have been more clear, I was actually making an argument against green screen, it would take a big out pouring of "yes" for green screen to make an appearance.

      that micro you're flying is sick mate, 10% throttle hover, the punch outs are incredible! really interested in your video on it, I'd even offer to buy it off you if you would consider that! cheers!

      the dvr footage you are showing is better from the 03o's. no one really notices the small breakup you are getting since we are all quite used to it lol. I would prefer the higher quality dvr of the skyzones . there is a lot to be said for being comfortable as well Nick. I tend to fly better when Im cozy and can see lol. hell worst case grab a dock king and add a eachine dvr to do recordings and fly the skyzones.

      @sirroger1 I bought this back in feb and the frame has since been updated, I broke the frame I have. He is sending me the updated version, but is thinking about shutting down after getting a new job. I hope he continues to sell at least the motors.

      Hey Nick. If you do enjoy how the Skyzones look, you can just use your RapidFire as a ground station for your DVR - absolutely no reason to compromise on comfort and (live video feed) image quality. The out of sync DVR is an issue I have noticed on the DVR footage of many brands, not just Fatsharks. The DVR of the Skyzones skips frames at least twice in your example footage but I am not sure if it is because of the actual footage or your editing timeline. Looking forward to trying the Sky03O myself, great to finally see some competition.

      Never heard the word fitment so many times. You love the image, they are comfortable, they have an OSD and the dvr looks solid and captured a steady 30fps. I don't understand what the dilemma is here. Switch. :)

    I'm a video professional, believe it or not, and I can honestly say a green screen would distract more. Your audio is great and your signal is fine. The info is what we want. I'm assuming nobody cares what is behind you. Keep pumping out the great reviews and awesome backyard flights.

    Thanks NIck! Great review . Been waiting for a head to head of these two. I will be picking up the skyzones cause I dont fly in bandos. The dvr looked equal or better on the o3s given some good antennas. that extra 150 will buy me a good toothpick or 2 or some good parts for the quads. Picture looks awesome and cant imagine what the oled look like after 3 years of aomway cammaders v1s. Don't even think about a blue screen or whatever it is behind you. People tune in for the content, your flying and honest reviews. I like the workshop, some encompass rooms, some are well organized in a small space. Awesome job.

      Thank you. The screens on these are so nice. They are my current daily fliers. I did find the low battery buzzer extra loud, just about crashed the first time I heard it. And the aluminum cover to the fan is a really smart move, it stays cool even in 95F heat bringing in cooler air to the goggle lenses.

    NICK!!! love the videos, especially this one. i love the new background. i love how technical your videos are. I think you should make the decision of what hardware you're using. i did want to mention, though, that you should stay with the setup you always have. nine times out of ten when i watch a youtuber and they get more money because theyre good at what they do they upgrade their camera and studio to like an actual studio instead of their room or basement or something i'll actually tune out and stop watching just because i love the grittyness of the og setup. keep it real for us man, again, love the info you give us!!!

    I'm glad you like these. I was on the fence, but finally gave in and ordered a pair yesterday. I ordered from Makerfire since they have a $25 off code (AUG25), and don't charge for shipping. I didn't see a significant difference in the DVR, and unless you plan to add trips around the house as a mainstay of your testing, I think the reception was fine.

    Hey Nick, I’ve been a subscriber and fan for quite a while now. I was hooked after only a couple seconds into the first video I saw of yours. The way that you get straight to the point on each feature clearly and quickly right from the start , works SUPER for Me. (Is there a such thing as TH-cam induced A.D.D.?) Probably just from all of the reviews I watch. Other tubers drone on and on about the same feature too long.....yada yada... I can say, since I discovered your channel and subscribed, I’ve learned more in half the time as I did before. You do excellent work and I for one look forward to getting home from work to see what you have been up to.. As far as which goggles to use, I would have to agree with you. I don’t like it that the HDO’s aren’t as good as the Skyzone. We’ve come to depend on Fatshark as being THE BEST. It’s about time Fatshark has some competition. When I look at my Fatsharks they look OLD kinda out dated and stupid expensive . The only thing they did was add OLED monitors. That’s it.? What about all the other improvements they could’ve made? What about the stupid design of plugging in the balance lead into the fan deal? That’s pitiful. Then of course NO POWER SWITCH? Les we forget the Fatshark has the worst DVR on the market stuck in the most expensive goggle on the market. Either Fatshark can get on it and catch up with the quality and THE PRICE of sky zones or I don’t expect to see them surviving much longer.
    As far as your quad space you record from? I dig it! The parts, frames, tools, shirts, etc. in background. 1) looks cool 2) makes me feel much better about how messy my quad area is. Ha ha ha ha . Hey, but I know where everything is.🤔. You’ve done it again. Great work Mr. Burns.

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really appreciate all the kind words. As I digested these googles I did have to ask myself why have the fatshark improvements been so slow and minor. He skyzone in really one version makes several small but major impact changes. I do see where fatshark must change their ways, but I am not sure we will see it in short order, how many editions have they made over the years and small changes all the way. Tide could be shifting, I would prefer we have the ability to change modules.

  • @quadfather504fpv9

    I soo wanna try n save up for a pair of those goggles in my opinion the dvr looks great considering and the range and reception looks good to , they look like some all around good goggles , the only thing i don't like is the inability to change the reciever module but as long as they continue to preform good or have the option to do a firmware update in the future thats all that matters 👍👍

  • @charleswarwick4849
    @charleswarwick4849 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    To me, the DVR looks identical. The lack of dropped frames makes the skyzones a clear win for me. Eh, the shirts are whatever you feel like. I don't mind clutter and I'm always amused seeing the shirt designs. Definitely one of thr strongest opinions I've heard on this channel in a while! I'm still flying Dom V2s with an eachine module so I've certainly got a bit of an upgrade itch unfortunately for my wallet...😂

    I like the Skyzone DVR more than the Fatshark. I also wish I would have waited to get a pair of the 03C's instead of the Commander V1's. I think skyzone has stepped up their game and have finally made a contender to the HDO's. Nice video sir.

    Regarding the video background or "Shirts thing" question you had, I'd like to contribute. It's a late contribution as I use your videos at different times. Anyways..
    My oppinion over time is that it (background) works for me. It keeps my hobby attention and also satisfies my personal need to know your human. lol Personal effects like tshirts help that. Tshirts could yield a lot of creative ideas for future shows. Who knows but tshirts seem like a nice addition to a set background. A working man's cave if you will.
    Hope that helps

    I concur. Easily the very best analog Goggles on the market. No competition. I actually think the rapidfire is a bit better but the screen on these goggles is such a huge leap up from even the HDO, it's actually worth any degree of minor reception hit for them.

SZ i may just do it.. as for you use what you feel is better... even 400 is ge a new quad , gas motor for my p51 build etc. fyi red paws dvr isn't bad but the settings to get there are odd but it shuts off randomly so i got the viper.. i would love to try some FS< SZ goggles to see how they fit etc.

    Yes, switch, but don't be afraid to switch back. Also if we get new fatshark modules you'll need the hdo to test, that might even cause you to switch back.
    I thought in general skyzone dvr image was slightly better. In higher signal areas rapidfire looked to have less breakup but very marginal. Finally consistent 30fps is a real bonus.
    No green screen needed :)

    Just had my first two flights in the house with the tiny hawk s and these goggles. I am blown away how good the video is during flying. Still havent figured out how to record. Must have not done it properly. I will figure it out. If the recording is anywhere near the quality of the goggles live feed, its way better than anything that ive seen before.

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good to hear your enjoying them. To record, press the rec button once quickly to bring the top osd down then press it again when you see the osd at the top. You should see red now on the left....its recording. If you press the rec button again it will only bring down the osd, press it again while the osd is down to stop recording.

I cant say im surprised by fatshark trying to shut down skyzone with the preoders on the new hdos. I dont lose one second of sleep wondering if I should have waited. The 030s were a great improvement from my previous goggles albeit a little pricey but well worth it.

    I must say IF that is the DVR footage flying outside and inside , that is amazingly clear and bright.....would appear to me ( someone who has NOT used any goggle but a boxed one ) as I have been watching many vids and reviews trying to get info on which one I want to invest in......so far I believe this video sort of pushes it over the edge that the new Skyzone 030's would be the way to go.....or one could not go wrong going with the skyzone 02C's or x's and save even more money
    And whether or not one uses a particular goggle is a decision only the person flying can make as the rest of us can not see the true experience in the goggle .
    Now I know the whole module debate, I believe that boils down to what sort of flying is going to be done...IF these skyzones do this well with built in modules and we all know the Rapid-fire module was designed for what it does...IF fatshark came with a RF module at it's price I would say that may be worth it, BUT to spend $600 plus dollars and then also still have to buy a $150-$200 dollar module well that is just ridiculous in my opinion....But again depends on one wants and how and where they fly.....would appear if someone was doing something with longer range and through and around obstacles/bando's , perhaps a fatshark with a rapid fire module would be best and lets not forget that fatshark is coming out with a HD set up bite frost or something that perhaps will be able to fit ALL fatshark goggles that need a module....but I do not think analog will be replaced entirely ....and I also assume skyzone also may jump into that and update or something or an attachment that would allow HD
    Seems some have mentioned using some sort of docking set up that can use a rapid fire module and if so, they could as easily create a set up for HD which seems to be the current hype since DJI came out with a $1000+ HD system...just spit balling as they say....
    Personally I am looking to invest in a pair of goggles to step up from box style ones...and will do so probably in the spring....but watching reviews such as yours that are honest and show the experience you as a reviewer are having, not a paid or fan boy style as so many tend to be . so with that I will subscribe and be watching to see what you decide.
    And maybe at some point I will let you know which ones I get and why . So Thank you for the video...helps 100% .
    Ed.

      Good to hear your enjoying them. They do come out and they are very stubborn. I put mine back into to protect the screens as I didn't see a difference in the picture. They lenses are a different size than fatshark, so if you get Rx diopters they would need to be for the skyzone googles.

  • @slackerinmotion
    @slackerinmotion 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    1) Based on your flying environment (low interference), the 03O seems better suited in reception, display, and recording than the HDO/RF combo. Subjectively, 03O fits comfortably on you, then I would recommend using 03O for a month and try HDO/RF again. Bet you would stay with 03O. You did say "these are the best goggles on the market...for analog FPV." For the rest of us, the price difference between HDO/RF and 03O of about $230 is the cost of an insurance policy on product/tech support.
    2) Don't care about the background; content is more substantive.
    3) Thanks for your review, Nick.

    I just bought sky 02 X last month.. I am very happy with it. The DVR isn't comparable to the live view but I don't want to miss it.
    The reception also is very good on my big quad even on only 50mW setting. (On my small 2inch the RC and vtx antennas are to close to each other which limits range massively)
    Anyway, is it worth upgrading? There are nearly no ppl near me that fly fpv, so I can only buy them without testing

    Great video! Here is the quick one for you... I had literally received sky02s goggles today and sadly they fit terrible on my face. I love the rest about the goggles but I have a sybstantial light leaks from the bottom of faceplate (both sides) and since my nose is fairly big its uncomfortable to wear Sky02s which is shame. I would like you to express your personal opinion whether Sky03Oled have a different form factor and shape in compare to Sky02s? I know its kinda personal as each head/face is different but just wanted to know if the mould is different somehow. I have a giant head too ;)

    The only reason to go with the HDO's over the Skyzones may be the coming of digital FPV. When a Fat Shark compatible digital module becomes available, Skyzone won't be compatible. Using a cable to input HDMI into the port may be a future option as well, but not one that a lot of people are going to like, IMO. I own HDO's, but I think if I was buying today, these are what I'd buy. Great review !!

    Hey Nick! Great work you're doing for the FPV community. I live in Canada and the class of drones you review is a big deal to me. I, like many, have been frustrated over certain quirks that the Fatsharks have. One problem that not every reviewer talks about is the lack of a time stamp on the MOV files. I know in JB's interview with the founder of Fatshark he said the board would need a battery and clock putting the DVR into another price range. Do the 03O's have a timestamp in the DVR or are they just an improvement over bitrate?

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. The 03O dvr files are all based on a date of 6/6/2018 the time of my files are all based on AM, so it doesn't look like the file timestamps are based on reality, like the power on starters at some time of 6/6/0218

    The break up between the two seemed very similar. The sky zones seem to have a clearer, more crisp image or they show more contrast or detail. I’m thinking The sky zones win in this comparison

  • @VideoBoat
    @VideoBoat 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Being a video junkie myself, I think the video color saturation on the Skyzone/(SZ) looks better than the Fatsharks/(FS). Also, I've noticed on the outdoor flight, the FS has more break-ups lines across the screen, than the SZ (they were close, but the SZ had less). Also, that full cut-out, on the FS didn't help its rating either. A lesser experienced pilot could easily find himself wrapped around a tree, from 2 seconds of signal loss. Great flying BTW. Also, keep in mind, we, as consumers, normally base how good or "Forgivable", a product is, based on how much we've paid for it. If a product cost $100.00 but is worth $50, we naturally give it a less sparkling review. With that said, if we paid $100.00 for a product that's worth $400.00, we tend to give it a much better review. If the FS cost over $500.00 plus another $100 for a module ($600.00+), and is being compared to a $430.00 SZ, that doesn't use a module (or no apparent need for one), and is showing equal or better results, the savvy consumer would go for the most bang for his buck. Of course customer support plays a roll in decision making also. With that said, if a product doesn't have a huge history of break-downs, this may be a mute point. IMHO, with the video you provided, the SZ out-preformed the FS at a lesser cost.
