    bit.ly/2ktiduk
    that's an incredible deal for the best goggles in the industry right now.
    Summary:
    These goggles easily give you the very best viewing experience of any FPV goggle I've ever tried. The facial fit of them tends to be a little better than others and there are two different size faceplates included. With thick foam, you will get some blurring around the edges of the screen but with thin or no foam the view is gloriously sharp from corner to corner. The screen resolution, contrast, color, brightness and response are all excellent. There is zero ghosting, plenty of resolution, spectacular contrast and color, and the highest level brightness will make your eyes hurt. Other features are; a great on/off button, super powerful fan with speed control, easy access to ports and SD card and a search function that works quite well. The goggles also double as an SD card reader so you don't need to fiddle with the SD card however the DVR isn't any better or worse than Fatsharks. The one main issue with these goggles is the receiver. It's just not as good as Rapidfire in regular mode or any other high end receiver in regular mode. Reception is similarly great but there are noticeably more glitches and blips in the video feed. I'm nitpicking here but it's at least an annoyance for me. Otherwise, this is easily the very best goggle on the market currently and I would not recommend anyone spend more than ~$150 on any other goggle product. The in between priced $150-400 products are just not worth it when you see how glorious the screen is on these. bit.ly/2Lho4gV

    I think when people try OLED goggles and say it has a better screen refresh rate, what they're talking about is that OLED pixels change virtually instantly, whilst LCD pixels take a quick, but measurable amount of time to change. You can turn an LED on/off at hundreds of thousands of times a second, an LCD element can't turn on/off nearly that fast.
    The thing with the balance plug powering the Fat Shark fan is dire, I've had to replace the plug on my original battery 2 times now, they could've easily solved it with spring contacts between the faceplate & goggle body.

    Always looking forward to your vids.
    Is the blurry edges a result of a too narrow IPD?
    I loved the JB interview with Greg French about the absence of a power button on the fat sharks. They could not add such a big change. It could make the goggles not work correctly any more....

    • @5zero7RC
      @5zero7RC 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my experience, there are a number of things that can cause blurry edges. And IPD that does not adjust enough for your yes is one of them. The other is trying to look through the edges of the lenses. In some goggles if you need to look through the very edge of the lens, you can sort of look through it but the image gets distorted. If the lens were larger, it would work for more people. If the image gets better when you remove the foam and get your eyeball right up next to the lens, then the small lens is the issue.

      @@ariafpv That is. Many existing FPV google models in both ends of price scale would shine if manufacturers would pay more attention to usability. There are even enough info about how these features must work. And even better if google manufacturers are pilots themselves - then they may have knowledge about what must be updated from first hands.

    Love my Skyzone 02S goggles!! I took me awhile to get use to a 30 degree FOV, but I did! The image quality on the 02’s are fantastic as well, sure, they’re not OLED, but they’re outstanding for a goggle costing under $300! I’ve looked through fellow pilots FS with the fancy modules, and the Skyzones beats them IMO. Many of your followers, sounds like a cult, sorry, many of your readers, may not afford $400, even $200, enter in the SJRG01 a binocular goggle, that is a true dual screen with diversity, DVR, 50 degree FOV, and can be external powered with the supplied cord. The downside, low resolution, but the FOV makes up for it, and @$80 dollars, can’t be beat for that type of goggle, and are made by Skyzone!

    Thank you for the review, Bob. Are you running Micro Eagle cameras in 4:3 mode with these goggles? If so, does the FOV reduction bother you compared to 16:9 that is native for the sensor?

    • @Kabab
      @Kabab  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always run my FPV cam's in 4:3 regardless of the goggle screen aspect. 16:9 on 16:9 screen is actually worse for me. I don't fully understand why even but I think it has to do with things just looking a lot farther than they are when the horizontal FOV on the camera is a lot wider than the vertical. If we could turn the screen and camera on its side and get that wider horizontal view on the vertical, now that would be something awesome.

    • @ErgoFPV
      @ErgoFPV 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kabab Turning the image on its side sounds too innovative for the industry to even think about if you ask me 🤣
      I think I know what you mean about the aspect ratio. It's like at 170 degrees FOV in 16:9 the sides of the image are probably of no interest for you as a pilot. Those areas are out of immediate reach of the quad when it is in motion and there's no way anything there can affect you flying by because it is too far away. Like those past light cones in special relativity that determine what can and what cannot influence you at the present. Interesting, I will definitely try that.

    Just pulled the trigger on these goggles! Coming from the SZ 02S, which is 16 x 9 display, and for me I got use to that 16 x 9, but I'd rather see more vertically than horizontally. Why? Because, it allows me to not have to pitch back, as soon, to see the top of the object I'm flying over. Sure, you can add more uptilt to remedy that with a 16 x 9, but with a 4:3 display you have more latitude vertically.

I now have the DJI FPV goggles and even with them, I need to remove the foam from my forehead area in order to get most of the screen in focus. So frustrating. :(

      I know, I know, you are all sick and tired of hearing about the DJI HD FPV system by now, but I wanted to explain why it was the right choice for me, and why it is probably not the right choice for you.
      Back in January 2017 I saw some FPV videos on TH-cam and I knew I had to try it. However I was not sure how well it would work so like most people I started with some of the cheaper options. I bought a pair of box goggles and the Turnigy Evolution radio. My thought was that if I didn’t like FPV, I would not be out a ton of money and if I did like it I would upgrade the radio and goggles right away.
      So it turned out that I really really liked FPV and my “beginner” setup worked just fine. I really liked the form factor of the radio and the only real down side is that a 2.4ghz radio does not have great range. And for the goggles, I tried a few others but could never find any that worked better for me. Sure the box goggles were huge and looked funny, but the picture was big, bright, and in focus. I tried some FatShark Dominators and HDO’s and neither of them fit my face. My IPD is too low and the images would not align. I also tried some Scouts when they came out but had other issues with those fitting my face. So I gave up and stuck with my box goggles.
      Another thing that sets me apart from most others in this hobby is the fact that I only have one working drone. I started with a Diatone Tyrant S, then a year later upgraded to a Chameleon TI and not long after I killed a few components in the Tyrant and it was not worth fixing. So that leaves me with one 5” quad that I fly and only one to add the DJI Air Unit too.
      So you can see from my history that I have not invested heavily in goggles (like Fat Shark HDOs + rapid-fire ) or radio gear ( like Crossfire ) or drones and I was looking for something that would give me a little more range. So when contemplating what to do I was looking at spending a lot of money on upgrades that would probably not even fit my face very well (or take a chance with Orcas) and that was when DJI came out with their new HD FPV gear. After a few weeks of research I finally decided to dive in and give them a shot and I am very happy I did.
      There are a few other things that went into my decision that would probably stop someone else from enjoying the DJI system as much as I have. One of those is that I don’t handle static in the analog system very well. I know many of you can fly through some pretty high levels of static but for me I tend to disarm pretty quickly. The other thing is that I fly alone the vast majority of the time. Like I might fly with one or two other people 3-4 times a year at most. That means I don’t ever have someone going on a “ride along” in their goggles and I don’t worry about interfering with others. Though the interference issue can be easily mitigated if necessary.
      Oh, and one more thing. I barely use the betaflight OSD at all. Basically just the flight timer. I like the way the voltage OSD of my camera looks and works better that the betaflight version ( I like seeing the LIVE voltage when I land, not the summary screen ). Everything else is pretty much unnecessary for me and more distracting than useful. And these two features work just fine in the DJI FPV system.
      So, for all the reasons I listed, the DJI HD FPV system works really well for me and if you are an average FPV pilot, I am fairly sure there will be many reasons why it would be a very difficult “upgrade” to make.
      At this point I have not flown very many packs with the new system but I can say that I really do like it. The goggles don’t fit perfectly but I was able to modify the foam to fit my face well enough and shrink the screens down to avoid the blurry sides for the most part. But the HD FPV feed is totally worth it to me and I just can’t see myself going back now that I have tried them. Hopefully DJI does get some competition soon and it would be great if that pushed all the companies to innovate even more. I can’t wait to see what is coming next.

    Curious. Which would you say is the more 'ultimate goggle' in terms of general design potential - these or the DJI goggles? Or maybe the Orcas? I ask because I have a theory that the single biggest challenge with goggles in general is how to combine a big screen with clear IPD adjustment, and DJI seems to have cracked it.
    I'd even argue that something as simple as having the right IPDs could possibly be a critical make or break factor in many of those 'FPV first impression' moments. If you think about it - how many times have you passed your goggles to somebody new and they're like 'meh', without even have touched the IPDs at all? In which case the odds are somewhat good that they probably just saw a blurry, eye crossing mess and decided that the hobby is crap?
    Can't agree more on Fatshark too - as good as the Fatsharks are and as much as many people feel genuine love for them (rare thing for a brand), they really need to step up their game and it's increasingly crazy that they haven't.
    The way they're sitting right now it looks like the moment that something a good notch better comes out - and that seems increasingly inevitable - it's as if Fatshark is totally fine with having absolutely no answer to that and fading into nothingness. If a startup like Orca can pull off a blank sheet design there's no reason an established medium sized company like Fatshark shouldn't be able to. Just a total head scratcher. So much low hanging fruit that they could have easily 'evolved in' to their products by now if they wanted to, yet they haven't done that either.
    So oddly frustrating! Why is it so frustrating? I don't even know! :)

      Dji hasn't cracked anything. They just threw a half decent screen in a box and called it a day. They didn't bother developing actual goggles. The viewing experience of their product is quite crappy and requires the user to shrink the screen size in software as small as it'll go just to be able to see the screen. Then you still can't read the osd at all. Had they built in analog support it would be alright but these Skyzone are a FAARRR better experience if you negate the HD.

      KababFPV That’s some very interesting insight on the DJI goggles. Guess the DJI money isn’t in the optics after all then?
      Curious to see what Orca does. Otherwise it looks like Skyzones and HDOs for another half a decade while we wait for one to get a fan and power button or the other to get a swappable receiver. :/

      @@RYCOPZ no way the money is almost entirely in the screen.

    Well, I am happy to say that I will never own a pair of Fatsharks now. I started with EV800 which were fine to begin with. Then got the original Commanders which I still use and enjoy. I never wanted to get Fatsharks because of the many reasons that have been mentioned, but considered getting HDOs because there wasn’t many other great options. That has changed in the last few months! Will probably end up getting Orqa if they meet the expectations.

    Hello! Thanks for this video, I have 2 questions about these goggles:
    - Antennas connectors are SMA o RP-SMA?
    - The battery is included?
    Thanks to everyone :)

    I don’t see how they are better than a pair of HDOs pretty much at the same price, minus the RF module? To each its own.

      If you look at the screens side by side you'll be absolutely shocked how much better the Skyzone is. I would put the Skyzone in the same category as the DJI stuff. The HDO is really not much if at all better than their five+ year old Dom v2
