i own a 2016 690 duke and i am also glad that he does like the 2016+ model, i was very sad after the first 690 vid.
Way more excited for their 2018 model, the 790 Duke, the prototype looked very promising. Almost like the Nudas younger sister :)
Some leaked testing pictures of the production bike looked rather boring tho.. sadly.
The production model looks nothing like the prototype, sadly. I was so hype for that bike since the nuda is my dream bike and we dont have them in NA. That could have been the replacement bike for my FZ-09, but that production model looks too boring :( ...
Husqvarna's Vitpilen 701 is what you need to brace yourselves for.

Been waiting for the 690 review for ages! I ride a 2010 690 Duke with full akra system and the thing is an absolute beast!

Best Duke 690 review I've seen - just gives you the first person feel of the thing rather than the usual nice cornering video. This 690 is so close being to being the ideal very light yet fast enough bike - but reckon it's still not quite there at very low speed. The imminent 800 twin is likely to be that machine - and maybe a future duke or husky 800 twin will replace the nuda.
I own a 2015 690 duke, and gotta tell everything RJ stated on the 2015 model was right ( vibrations and refinement ), in my personal case I do still enjoy the bike a lot, 2016 models onward you can really tell the difference. Good review RJ.

I'm pretty confident it will be replaced by the 790 concept that was unveiled last year at EICMA. That new 2-cylinder will be a monster 😍

John Doe considering you'll likely drop it I'd advice against getting a brand new bike for your first
The way I see it is it's either I worry about MAYBE dropping it, or I do a lot of work looking for a used one. Which could also have been dropped, or backed into by a car, or who knows what.
John Doe 1.) Getting a used bike is not a lot of work.
2.) It's not about having a dropped bike, it's about the financial consequences of dropping a new bike compared to an older, possibly already dropped bike. Unless you have money up the wazoo, get a used bike, even a Duke 390. Saves you thousands of dollars.
3.) And you will drop it. Even if it only falls over in a parking lot, but damn near every biker dropped their bike in one way or another.

Whose to say you don't end up buying a used bike and end up sinking thousands into repairs, or parts or other things? Sure, the risk is there with a new bike, but i'd take a new bike with the potential to drop it (not saying im good at riding, i haven't even been on a bike yet) vs a bike someone else has ridden, possibly dropped, and who knows what else they've done to it.

Rode one recently, seating position is nice, alright around town. Top ends got to wrong it's neck. Bought a triumph Daytona 675 in the end.
So RJ, do you think it's worth the extra $ for the "690 R" version?
Hi RJ, is it ture that the new 690 duke feels like a good mixture of a naked bike and a Supermoto? I heared that it feels a bit like a Supermoto because it is taller, lighter and more agile than most of the other naked bikes?
I think about getting one next month, would you recommend it?

There was something wrong with the last one you were riding RJ. I have the 690 Duke 2016 and your videos seems to highlight problems that are genuine problems. The mirror was naffed on your one. I don't find any issues with mine and replaced purely on your advice in an email. The 690 you rode had a lot of problems with it

Could you do a review on the 2017 Honda MSX? If not could you do a series dedicated for new beginner riders and in the series you could search for the best beginner bike and go on test drives etc...? Just a thought - It would be very helpful!
RJ, have you heard about the new 790 duke?! I think you are gonna love it. Maybe not in same league as the super duke. But still plenty power; think of it as a mini super duke. Please review it when it’s out! :)
RJ what do you think about the new BMW 310 series of bikes. Im very interested in them as they are being talked up to be some amazing bikes. Would love to see you do something on them in the future when you take your BMW in for a service.

Hi, could you please tell me why the sound changed at 2:36? the wind didn't start suddenly once you killed the engine, I am guessing you passed from one recording method to another? I saw in your faq that you use an external recorder in your pocket, is this still the one used here? Thanks. I am trying to make some videos my self and have lots of trouble with wind noise - your exhaust sound always comes off so clean...
Hey RJ when are you gonna test the Brand New Triumph Street Triple RS, because you like in UK so you should test one UK naked bike, haha congrats for your achievements in your TH-cam channel, you are one of my favorites TH-camrs.
it feelt rly tame when i rode it. probobly because i hadnt turned of the rider aids. also there was almost only straights where i rode it.
i think this is mostly for a2 license holders and other young riders but i am incredibly excited for the 790 one
I think the first thing you tried was something wrong with it.
I have the model 13 and the only thing I did change the mirrors. For the rest, very small vibrations but bearable.

i had a 08 690 duke and i enjoyed the bike very much. i really like the looks of the 08-10 690 dukes. i hate the headlight and exhaust on the new dukes. they should have left them on the belly like the 08 dukes!

I've been trying out the RC 390 and it's really a fun bike to ride so imagine the 690 would be much the same. Price is a big stumbling block.

i'm more about the good old tractor sounding 690, simply because i have that weird taste in engine sounds
to me, the old one sounds better, of course, many will not agree with that

yeah now the same engine is on the 2017 701 husqvarna but not the 690E/sm.

the SMC R is no longer Euro 4 and it would have competet with the 701 so they dropped the production... i'm sad cause i wanted one and now they are super expensive :(
No they have not dropped the production? The KTM will get an update with the new engine.

Old Husqvarnas are still the smoothest singles available. SM510, SM610 but also the bmw versions SM511 and SM630...
if it sounds like a tractor it is a tractor :P like the old 2010 design of that bike more
