    I passed the CPC exam by buying three practice exams from AAPC, and taking one on weekdays in rotation for 30 days. That's all I did besides highlighting my books.

    I passed with an 88% without the HCPCS book and with an hour and half left. 😅 It's not EASY but if you prepar it's not hard. I took three AAPC practice exams and I think that was really helpful.

    I just took mine today! I passed with a 85%😄 I got all 6 AAPC practice tests and did them until I felt comfortable navigating my books and got a passing score on all of them. I did rotate them so that I wouldn’t remember the answers and actually had to look the answers up instead of just memorizing which answers I got wrong and repeating the same test back to back. Also brush up on med term and anatomy/physiology a bit too😅
    I found that the practice tests were way harder than the actual test in my case

      Forgot to mention, I also have been studying with Penn foster on and off for two years and it was pretty good for learning A&P, med term and basic overall knowledge on how to get started on coding

    I took my CPC exam yesterday and was surprised how easy it was for me. I’ve been a COBGC coder for 14 years so I have coding experience but have only coded Obgyn. I purchased the study guide and the practice exams, studied for 2 1/2 months and took the exam. My books were marked and highlighted to the hills and I only used like 3 of my notes. One of them being the use and abuse I had just written in my book the day before from watching your video thanks for that. Most of my exam was easy to narrow down by knowing the modifiers and understanding and using the combo codes and not unbuilding. That was seriously it. I finished with 35 minutes to spare and got an 85%. I probably could have done better if I went back through the handful I flagged but I was confident in what I did know and was okay with that. I way over stressed and over prepared. But that’s also probably what helped me be able to breeze through it. Thanks for all your amazing videos. They are super helpful.

    I just took the CPC exam. I did the online live proctor exam. Yes it’s hard. Nervousness and background noise/distractions made it much more difficult than necessary. I passed, but if the situation had been different, I think I would have done much better.

    Would I still be able to use my 2024 books to take the exam in January or February?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The exams get a refresh every January 1st to reflect the current calendar year's code sets. So, even though ICD-10-CM codes might update on October 1st, those changes won't show up in the exam until the new year rolls around. 🗓️
      Feel free to use last year's books, but just know you might be at a slight disadvantage. For the full scoop, check out AAPC's official guidance:
      www.aapc.com/certification/faq.aspx
      " What year's books should I use?
      All AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, so we strongly suggest you use the current year’s books. The previous calendar year’s books may be used on an exam, but you would be at obvious disadvantage doing so. The upcoming year’s books are not allowed for exam use. The exams are updated every January for the new code sets."

    I am just starting my coding and billing journey with preppy. Would you buy the books for 2024 or should I wait and get the 2025?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Preppy should include eBooks with your program. Right now the 2025 CPT and ICD-10-CM books are already available -- you can go ahead and get those. The 2025 HCPCS books should come out in December or sometimes early January.

  • @sabrina6966

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes!! Preppy stands out because it offers an externship, which is a real-world experience that can be incredibly beneficial as you're starting in the field. This hands-on practice can give you a significant edge and confidence. Additionally, Preppy provides a college certificate of completion, adding an extra layer of credibility to your resume.
      These features, particularly the externship, can make a substantial difference in preparing you for the workforce and helping you feel more equipped and confident as you transition into your new career path.
      You can find more information and insights at preppy.org to see how it aligns with your needs and goals. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best in your journey into medical billing and coding!

    My CPC exam was very hard, but then again, I took the exam in 2016 when it was 150 questions and 5 hrs and 40 minutes long!
    I've found the other exams I took in 2023, the COC and CPMA, were relatively easy. But as you said: hard is relative. The key to success is practice, practice, practice and study, study, study!😉👍

      Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like an unusual glitch, as the audio is working on this video from other viewers' feedback. Sometimes, individual browser or app issues can cause sound problems with specific videos. Here are a few things you could try:
      - Check the video mute button isn't enabled.
      - Try watching the video on a different device or web browser.
      - Clear your browser or app cache, which can sometimes resolve unexpected issues.
      - Make sure the TH-cam app is updated to the latest version if you're using a mobile device.
