Very informative video! Thank you. I set a goal this month to listen to a video or read an article everyday (minus Sundays) regarding a medical coding/community topic.
I pulled the plug this morning and signed up for Billing and Coding with Preppy. I have contemplated making a move in the medical field for over a year now. Due to some unfortunate family circumstances I am no longer able to work out of the home., that could change in the Spring of 2025. I have a pharmacy background and dialysis background, 23 years total so I hope this will pay off in the future. Thanks for your detailed videos and the range of topics you talk about. Thanks for giving me that little kick in the pants to move forward. Much success to you!
Because CPT is copyrighted, I feel that providing updates would be sharing too much of their information and I do not want to take on that high of a risk of an infringement.
Question about the new obesity codes and pediatrics. Can you give an example how this is used? TIA. I'm a CPC, CRC and I learn better from examples which is why I follow you.
Hello Victoria, I love your videos. My instructors turned me on to your TH-cam channel. Thank you for being fun and real! I am trying to get one of your tshirts for Xmas, but husband is cheap. Is there a code for cheap spouse? Have a great holiday season! I hope you can do a video on modifiers perhaps soon? I have a CCA and working through school to get my CCS-P. Would love if you went through the modifiers 25, 59, and any other confusing ones. (my first time posting)

I received my 2025 ICD 10 CM code book, but they didn't come with the tabs this year per the AAPC, where can I get them? Saw them on Amazon, but for 2024.
I have completed a four month course. I will be taking my certification exam soon. Pass or fail, I feel like I’m still quite incompetent to actually do the job. Multiple choice questions and actual coding are worlds apart. What would you recommend to help me become more competent and feel more competent besides taking another course? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I've never personally added new codes from a year into an old book, so it would be up to your personal preference of how your want to add in all those codes to your book.
I am most interested in is that each class for obesity has a range for the BMI, so when the provider documents obesity in the assessment and provides the BMI does that allow the coder to select the class?
Hi do you suggest getting additional certificates/training in medical administration and internal auditing to go with the coding certification for better job opportunities? My goal is to be a Medical Coding Auditor.
Getting additional training in medical administration and internal auditing can definitely enhance your qualifications and open up more job opportunities, especially if your goal is to become an auditor. Especially look into the CPMA credential.
Victoria I have a question how does one study to code for clinical trials? Are there different guidelines? Do you know anything about clinical trials charge capture if so please explain.
Hi There, quick question for you. I am going to take the AAPC CPC Course, should i wait until the new year 2025 from a cost perspective? My concern is that I will get 2024 books and will need 2025 soon if I enroll now and will have to buy 2025 if I enroll now.
I’m basically done with my medical record certificate and I’m in the process of taking my CBCS exam in I will be start class for Health Care Management and I would like to add on more coding certifications such CIC any suggestions on any other coding certifications that would be good to have?
I’m reaching out for help is there any place to help more with the exam. I’ve done all 6 of the AAPC practice exams and I’m struggling. Help with main terms😮 I think I have it and I’m wrong it is really frustrating.
Per the AAPC website: - You may choose to utilize books from the preceding year, the current year, or a combination or both; however, only one copy of each book is allowed. - Books older than one year are are NOT allowed for exam use. www.aapc.com/support/certification-exams/which-years-books-should-i-use
Medical coders obtain new books annually either by purchasing them or having them provided by their employer. There are hundreds of code updates every year. These updates are essential to accurately represent advancements in medical knowledge and practice, incorporate regulatory changes, remove outdated codes, and improve the specificity and utility of existing codes. Staying up-to-date with the most recent coding books ensures that medical coders can maintain the highest level of accuracy and compliance, which is crucial for proper reimbursement and quality patient care. The AAPC exams (such as the CPC) get a refresh every January 1st to reflect the current calendar year's code sets. So, even though ICD-10-CM codes might update on October 1st, those changes won't show up in the exam until the new year rolls around. 🗓️ Feel free to use last year's books, but just know you might be at a slight disadvantage. For the full scoop, check out AAPC's official guidance: www.aapc.com/certification/faq.aspx " What year's books should I use? All AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, so we strongly suggest you use the current year’s books. The previous calendar year’s books may be used on an exam, but you would be at obvious disadvantage doing so. The upcoming year’s books are not allowed for exam use. The exams are updated every January for the new code sets."

Is it possible to have sequencing guidelines for all chapters in a form of an infograph or a table for easier and efficient memorization?

2025 starts October 1st if I’m not mistaken
My understanding is if you are taking your exam this year, you can use 2024, or 2023; however current year is recommended.
The exams for AAPC do not change until January 1 even though ICD-10-CM codes change prior to that.
