I simply love your videos! Just subscribed to your channel! I was a horseman for nearly half a century but lost everything (horse, trailer, truck, house, barns, etc 😂) in a divorce so it’s super exciting watching you ride your mule in the desert 🌵. In your Geronimo video you flew your drone while riding- that was cool. Plus all the B row videos showing you riding past the camera. That’s a lot of work getting up and down from your saddle to get your tripod level in that type of terrain! And you using a selfie stick while riding in that rocky terrain and on the sides of hills is an incredible feat! Well done and I can’t wait to watch your other videos! Oh, and you bringing your mule with you in the cave- wow! My 17 hand Thoroughbred Appaloosa would have taken one look at that dark hole and said no way!! Thanks again for all the work you do!

The red pigment painted on the rock is made from ground up hematite mineral, I believe. With cactus or tree sap as a binder glue. If there were black lines as well, it would be charcoal with the same binder glue. The cave art on the California Central Coast area was made with those minerals. That's my guess, anyhow!

It seems possible that these are ‘practice rocks’ to learn how to properly make the images. Compare to the Freemont, Hoppi, or White Shaman Panels you know see the big leagues. The Hoppi have given an interpretation. White Shaman has been deciphered. Ties into catastrophism. Intriguing.

As an archaeologist I think petroglyphs have different meanings. Some are boredom, some are just prehistoric graffiti, some are marking game trails and water sources, some are spiritual or too much peyote, some of them do mark burial grounds.... Local tribes sometimes have an oral tradition on them. It breaks my heart to see the prehistoric stuff tagged. It ruins the context and what we can learn from them.

Ya gotta think of those doodles, as the ancient ones, form of writing. Like an alphabet, or the Egyptian writing. Least that is how I interpret them. Petroglyphs are the pecked into the rock art. Pictographs are the ones painted onto rocks. From what I know, a circle with a cross through it, usually meant a war party (think: a war shield, of a warrior). One example. Great video! Thanks for sharing a fascinating life! 🌿💙

We spent years running sled dogs. At races, all the dogs were tied out on chain tie-outs like you describe. Unless you had a truck with dog boxes, that's where they also spent the night. And yes, you are so right about dogs becoming aggressive if they are tied out in a yard all the time.

Hey Brett, love your channel, and watch it regularly. I found some information that I’d like to share with you. Petroglyphs are rock carvings (rock paintings are called pictographs) made by pecking directly on the rock surface using a stone chisel and a hammerstone. Keep on riding the trail my friend.
    All the Best,

The red dye is : Red ochers contain Hematite (red iron oxide) mixed with clay and vary widely in hue. Ground finely from red earth or clay, red ochers are lightfast, unreactive pigments that have been used since ancient times. They can also be manufactured by calcining Yellow ocher (Goethite). Some archaeologists think that ochre is a symbol of life and fertility. In some cultures, red ochre is used during rituals. Others suggest that red ochre is used for hunting success, with the red symbolizing the spilled blood of the prey after a hunt.

When you found the panel you were looking for you pointed out a flat rock with 6-7 holes ground down into it.
You wondered what those holes were for.
Well... Those little scoop outs are where they ground up the red ocher for paint pigment. They probably also mixed it with water in one of those divvets to make the paint.
Also most of the squiggly lines are representative of snakes. However the sharp zig zag lines mean water and they often show you where to find it.
Thanks for the vids! I can't get out much right now because I'm waiting for a knee replacement. T.Y.

@@BrettVaughnB100 The mattates for grinding corn are long and shallow. Usually about a foot wide and as long as a woman's or child's arm can reach. They are usually aboveground and tilted so that the ground up flour can be more easy to get at.

Well, I think your wife is right because those petroglyphs do mean something, and they typically represent signs and symbols and signals from the sky. Portals desert beast from the old, but they absolutely do mean many things and she is right and she’s not that far out there at all. If I were you, I would admire her for thatfor having a free and open and thinking mind

30:23 I see a box cannon, with a pond, that has an island in the middle and there is 2 ridges off to the left. Knowing who, when and why is the things you need to know. What you should be doing is making your own marks. A man, 2 donkeys and some dogs. Then with a date and name or at least initials, it would mean something to the next person to see it. Other wise it don't really mean anything. Where I hunt, you can find trees and rocks with dates and initials. I was way out in the woods and found a rock that had 1968 CHB on it and I started to cry, that was my dad when I was 10 years old, god rest his sole. Who flies the drone?

Brett, I love your channel. And it’s funny but you and I have a lot in common. We look a lot alike and share the same stomping grounds. I’ve only been here around seven years or so but I’ve gotten around a lot since then. If you ever see an army green Jeep, Gladiator Rubicon with a white Shepherd/Husky mix in the back it’ll be me. We’re always out there somewhere. Make sure you say hi. You may just see him before you see me. He gets rangy on me sometimes, but I’ll be along behind him somewhere. His name is Odin. He likes to chase Javelina too. Got into a herd last week and he backed one up against a cliff in a wash. It’s a miracle they didn’t tear him up. Anyway, love your videos! Good to see you up and about again and Wishing you all the best!
