- An interesting experiment turns into a fun conversation with my wife. Loved hearing her thoughts on these characters from just looking at them. This was mostly just us having fun but if you'd like to hear more of her thoughts like this, we could absolutely do more of these in the future.

It's fun to hear newbies theorizing, but it's agonizing to not reveal the spoilers.
When she said Mayuri was fun the first thing that came to mind was how kubo cosplayed as him bc he was his favorite character

Even though KON is comedic, his character did tackle some serious issues. The right to live and no killing pacifism that he adopted as his umcomprising moral principles given his origins and near fate due to being declared 'useless'. His refusal to even crush ants because they live was all you need to know. And with Yoruichi that's part of her appeal, she's an assassin yet is willing to break all the rules to do the morally right thing while preferring to leave opponents with a bruised ego and nothing more.

Your wife got some of the characterization correct actually 😅but I won't say what cuz spoilers. Just a testament to kubo's great character designs. Calling people Chad was funny though.
Should definitely do this with the Espada once you see the rest of them

Future episodes of this would be fun just cause of how much knowing how Kubo designs certain types of chars will have her get way closer...and some way further off or what sounds like mistakes actually being sorta true.
Now that I think about it, what it is [SPOILERS]
with Isshin and redhead ? He had Rangiku as a vice-captain, and then Masaki.
It is genetically possible that he got it by one of his parents being a carrier of the gene.. So it is possible that one of the grandparents was a redhead.
Isnt Rangiku blond in manga (and now tybw) tho. It's more weird that Masaki and Orihime are so similar (sideeye)
I would like to see more videos with your wife on guessing Characters by name and what they may represent
Kubo often gets props for his strong character designs, and this feels like an excellent demonstration of why that is so well deserved.
Even with basically zero foreknowledge, someone can, with relative accuracy, look at his cast and immediately have a feel for their personality, though not necessarily their role (that latter bit being very important for a story like Bleach).
It really goes to show how integral Kubo's masyery of shape-language and his keen sense for style were to the quality of the series as a whole.
This was an entertaining and refreshing content. Hopefully Mrs. Agamotto will watch or read Bleach with you so you can watch TYBW together.
Her impression toward's Gin, Aizen, Mayuri and Urahara's design is a testament of Kubo's brilliance in character design.

Regarding Mayuri's long nail - design-wise i think it's meant to evoke an old fashion trend among Chinese nobility to show off that they didn't need to do hard labor and can afford to grow out the nail without breaking it despite being an inconvenience.
