Hello everyone! In today's video, we're taking a look at the endgame bosses of Bleach - one of, if not THE, most powerful villainous groups in the series, Yhwach's holiest defenders, the Schutzstaffel. Who's your favourite member of the group? Which of their fights is the best? Let me know!
Oh I have a fun question!! Why isn't yuha a million years old? He's the son of the soul king so when reading it I assumed that he had challenged ichibe a million years prior lost, was made into a fetus and thrown to the ground. Then over the immense amount of time he rebuilt himself choosing the names of major religions to describe himself as his original name is truly gone.
Gerard Valkyrie. The Miracle is a bogus, cheap, overpowered thing to ever exist in any anime in my book. It's the cheats of cheats and even utter obliteration can't stop The Miracle! xD That said, hopefully the Anime does give all 5 (including Uryu) some more in-depth background and story to give them that much more oomph then they already have. And their fight scenes are extended given they are the head honcho core group of villains of the TYBW arc. And PLEASE!!! PLEASE!! Give my dude Kira some finished extended story! It was tough a year-ish ago, let alone 10 years ago, that he was the first to be taken out. My favorite character, out just like that. T_T And then the Hell Arc has him back like some sort of rogue shinigami in the World of the Living or some shite, like what the hell man?!? xD lol
Quite a group. The left arm of God. The heart of God. The greatest Arch-angel. And then there is Askin, who is a pretty normal guy. Really makes him extra cool with how he is a man placed alongside Gods, and yet he is the biggest fan-favorite of the squad, haha!
I think Askin being called the “current era of warfare” refers not only to the nature of his powers, but his philosophy about battle and his attitude overall. Lille is a soldier, he’s on the ground with a gun, firing on the enemy, killing for his duty. Askin, however, is what you might call a “desk murderer”, he’s happy to eliminate the enemy indiscriminately, but he doesn’t want to get his hands dirty. He sees poisoning someone to death as different from finishing them with his bow, the same way drone strikes or forced starvation via sanctions are seen as being different from a ground invasion.
@@TsukiSamaX Askin may not appear like it, but I would argue he is quite intelligent and cunning. In his first engagement in the second invasion with Mayuri, it's very easy to get caught up in everything else happening on screen, but Askin doesn't engage him. Then in his battles against Squad Zero he analyzes what his opponents can do, and then he wins his battle against Tenjiro. He analyzes what his opponent can do and then acts accordingly. Aizen and Askin have similar battle strategies.
@@aarym605 I’m actually really upset we didn’t get a Mayuri vs askin fight. That would have been crazy and not just because both deal with poison. I feel Aizen and askin could actually have a chill conversation 😂😂😂
yeah, Askin's approach to battle is more calculated and indirect, preferring to eliminate enemies without getting directly involved. It's like the difference between remote attacks and physical combat.
I think the problem with the trio of Vasto Lords was that so much time was spent on the assault on las noches that the battle of fake Karakura town was drastically shortened in order to keep the pacing from being too dragged out and so the elite espada got the short end of the stick
Without the hax of "I get stronger when I die" all of Schutzstaffel would have lost. Not only did the Royal Guard beat them but when they all came back all of them were beaten but Kubo loves his: "Oh you thought that fatal attack killed me." trope. Gerald was beaten several times but his power literally just reconstructs his body with infinitely more power.
@@victorampo1137 Barragan wasn't mid diff at all. He was super haxxed out. Needed to be killed by his own ability. The only other Shinigami capable of taking him out were probably Yamamoto, Urahara, Tessai, and Ukitake (I have a pet theory that Respira wouldn't work on him as he's merged with Mimihagi, a divine being that governs stagnation).
Most likely he did have sword that could cut through anything and he stabbed him near wear his cross would be its possible, The X axis even comments about he should have gotten back up.
@@d0stick-bm4ph Maybe, that’s just speculation though. Cause he’s fused with the hogyoku. So as it stands Aizen is way stronger than any of the Quincy minus ywach.
Fun Fact: Only one espada died to a bankai by itself and no other factors Stark: died to Shunsui using shikai, never even got to see a bankai Barragan: died to his own abilities because of Hachi's kido Halibel: did not die after getting cut down by Aizen Ulquiorra: died to a hollowfied Ichigo Nnoitora: died to Kenpachi using two hands to swing his sword Grimmjow: defeated by a hollowfied Ichigo but did not die Zommari: actually killed by Byakuya's bankai by itself Szayel: survived Mayuri's bankai only to be killed by drugs stored inside Nemu Aaroniero: died to a shikai because he got cocky Yammy: took Byakuya in his bankai and Kenpachi working together (while fighting each other) to kill him
Out of the four, Lille is my favorite with Pernida being runner up. I love Lille's cowboy/sniper aesthetic and loved how anxiety inducing his powers and holy and angel forms were. His eldritch design was a little grinding at first since dude turned into a bird, which made no sense to me, but the design eventually grew on me. It helped that he had a good battle, plus at that time I think One Piece was in the Dressora arc where Bartolomeo got the nickname "Chicken Kun" (translation at that time), which then became my nickname for Lille lol.
Makes perfect sense. Aa much as I like Gremmy...I'm happy it worked out the way it did. We got way more Askin and Gremmy technically was just hanging around, uhh kinda anyways. Not sure how much of CFYOW is staying in tact seeing as Mena and Candice got the pink slip.
@@aria4830Askin is my second favorite Quincy. I don’t believe they are killing off Bazz B, Candice, and Meninas with the Auswahlen. They’ll probably just give a better explanation in the anime why they didn’t die and others did. We have Uyru and Ichigo’s Mom Misaki who survived it in the past.

I really love the unspoken context Lille comes with. Based on his appearance, unusual name (this goes for a lot of sternritter tbf) and Kyouraku commenting on how his culture must have similar children's games to his own, we can guess that Lille is probably from one of the Quincy clans once conquered by Yhwach. I really hope the anime expands on this a little, feels like there should be some interesting backstory there. On a sidenote, I've always loved how Kubo includes characters and concepts from all kinds of cultures and ethnic backgrounds without ever making it feel forced or stereotyping
I kinda like that Gerard and Lille are kinda being portrayed like bros the "villains" in Bleach are usually at each others throat a little more than they should be considering their situations this goes both for the Espada and the base Sternritters but the Schutzstaffels seem different and i like the freshness
It'd be neat if we saw a scene of Lille getting indoctinated into the Sternritter in the anime. "You are no doubt one of the most devout and skilled members of the empire. As such, you shall be the first to recieve a schrift." or something like that.
My mind was blown away during the Mayuri vs Pernida fight. I never thought I would be left in awe during a Mayuri fight, but dammit it happened. Hands down best fight in the entire arc.
These guys were definitely a genuine threat and I’m so glad Uryu’s true powers are getting expanded. I have to say that if there was just one more member to add to the Elite Quincy, it would have been Gremmy if he had better control of his powers. All of the elites have broken abilities. There’s a part of me that hopes we will see vollstandigs for Hashwalth, Pernida, and Uryu in cour 3.
@@michaela5700 it wasn’t unlocked out of nowhere. Ywach chose him and granted him the same letter. Of course it was going to be an overpowered ability. The manga just didn’t do a great job of portraying it.
Sometimes I wonder if Gremmy would have taken the spot of Askin had he not died to Kenpachi. He wasn't challenged at this own statement of being the strongest Sternritter
@SOLDAT_MENDES No it doesn't, considering the only reason he lost is because it's Kenpachi, and Gremmy, with his reality bending powers imagined Kenpachi as a monster. If Gremmy wasn't a smooth brain kid, he would've most certainly won.
It could be possible that Askin what’s promoted because of his ability. If he had survived the holy selection, he would have become immune to it with his ability, and it could’ve potentially been one of the few people who could negate his masters power innately like Uryu
Lille Barro's name was recently spoken by Gerard in the English dub TYBW anime, and the pronunciation isn't what most people have been saying (similar to Cang Du [San Too] and As Nodt [Es Nodt]); Lille is pronounced like "Lee Jay."
I wanted to play devil's advocate for why Askin was chosen for fighting against squad zero. While on the surface Askin does not appear to do much of anything, I would argue he slowed down Mayuri. He kept Mayrui from being able to enter the battlefield early in the second invasion. If he was able to enter the battle he could have saved several captain's lives and turn those battles around. Secondly, Askin kept all of his abilities hidden from the enemy. Therefore he is an unknown factor and his abilities do much more than the other remaining Sternritter which could have been chosen. Finally, consider how Ywach has chosen to fight this entire war. He has used every surprise tactic and then some. Every time it seems the soul society or one of its members starts to turn things around, Ywach finds the perfect countermeasure. If the enemy doesn't like the bankai, steal it. They found a way around bankai plundering, well defeat them with overwhelming force. Askin's fighting style and tactics embody how this war has been fought. It's not about honor, it's about winning.
50:58- Kubo mentions his lack of giving backgrounds for his villains is deliberate as giving them backgrounds would humanize them and make the heroes- who are protecting an original sin and have morally dubious origins more villainous in taking them done- and thus making appear as they are- antagonist forces that they have to take down.
The fact that Askin was promoted despite not participating in the second invasion makes me think Ywhach had already decided on bringing him to the Royal Palace before the invasion even began, which makes me wonder if any of the Sternritter who died would’ve also been brought up if they had survived; Gremmy, As Nödt, and maybe even Quilge come to mind.
Gremmy was the only one worthy out of the remaining sternritter that deserved to be promoted. Quilge and as nodt were weak in comparison. The truth is that Gremmy lacked the creativity to be a true threat. As nodt was taken down by rukia who hadn’t even mastered her Bankai. Quilge was getting his ass kicked by ichigo before he even got his true zanpakutou.
Gremmy? Nahh! He’s got the power but he has no discipline or experience and I see him getting in the way of the other members with his AOE moves.. As Nodt isn’t strong enough and Quilge is laughable…
@@SoulReaperSlayer19he may not have the discipline but if Ywhach caj get him to listen to orders then it's pretty much over for everyone. As for the other two, I don't know about As, but at least Quilge has the Quincy pride and the conquest of Hueco Mundo under his belt.
@@gammafrostI don’t think you can really say As Nodt was weak for falling to Rukia’s Bankai. It’s incredibly powerful. Honestly, I wouldn’t doubt it could’ve killed Askin had he been in As Nodt’s position. I think if anything, his fight with Rukia demonstrates just how powerful As Nodt and The Fear were. Rukia had a direct counter to his ability, and she still had to be rescued by Byakuya before she could use her Bankai. Combine how powerful The Fear is with how zealously devout As is to Ywhach, and I think he could’ve made the cut
@@LoganWH8 id say weak compared to the elites. I wasn’t trying to downplay Rukia’s power but it wasn’t at its peak just yet. Gremmy is far more dangerous as an opponent than As Nodt to the point the others feared him and locked him up.
At least these guys actually felt dangerous. Some of them were literally invincible until the plot intervened. Then you have the Espada; the top three got obliterated and didn’t even knock anyone down. And then Yammy was supposed to be the strongest Espada after his twist but he was still a total joke.
@@davia4794 I suppose when reading or watchig the anime when they engaged they felt dangerous but in hindsight unless there are drastic changes, they ended up not being that impressive imo
@@gabnel1000I think that was largely due to plot in some cases. Nanao's zanpakuto was a perfect counter to someone like lille, gerard only died due to the auswhalen and it was the same with jugram, askin got killed from behind by grimmjow without even knowing he was there. Pernida I think is the only one who really got a "fair" death. Even if you don't think they were that impressive or imposing, there is no denying that each of them have some of the most broken and haxed abilities in the series. If it weren't for the plot, I think mayuri would have been the only one to come out alive in terms of the soul reapers

Toshiro, byakuya and kenpachi had absolutely no way of destroying gerards cross, lille said "fuck you" to shunsui and survived insta kill bankai, then immediately transformed, but also had many other opportunities to kill him earlier on in the fight too. I do want some things to change for a couple of these fights in the anime going forward, because they aren't perfect
The only thing I can about Gerald that I think is kinda ironic and I see what the Kubo was going for, is that the man who was all about miracle ends up dying because of a miracle. Never thought about it like that before the video.
When referring to Eras/Ages of Humanity, the 'Modern Era' roughly ended in the 1940s, end of WW2 - which was when artillery was reengineered to be much more effective and longer of a range. Modern is before Atomic, and Atomic before Information which is the current age.
Kubo does a good job at making character/groups that I kind of want to see go off on adventures together; like imagine these four in a fantasy world trying to hunt down a dragon
I love the Schutzstaffel and think they are awesome! Lille is definetly my favorite one. Compared to many shonens, like One Piece, where the secondary antagonists turn out to be usually nothing more than goofy and foolish lackeys that lack power, I love how ludicrously overpowered the Schutzstaffel are, to the point they would be the main villains if Yhwach wasn't around, and as such, they give way more stakes to the arc/finale and serve as awesome and arduous obstacles for the others! They are truly endgame bosses.
The “modern era” is generally said to be the 1500s/1600s up until the end of WW2, the drop of the nuclear bombs. So I think they fit the eras pretty well
Ok, are you not forgetting about my boy the Sternritter W "The Wind"??? he also made it to the king palace, just that Kubo didn't pay any attention to him after he was quickly dispatched by Senjumaru
Literally clicked on the video and went "WHOOOOAAA!!!" lol love the new haircut my guy o7 But yea, the Schutzstaffel are absolutely wild even with Gerard's weakness confirmed and Senjumaru's Bankai. If you dropped them in almost any anime, that verse is gonna be in for a rough time.
I gotta say, that haircut looks good! I've honestly never really given much thought to the Schutzstaffel purely because they came at the end of the series, so I'd already become invested in a ton of characters by that point. The lack of backstories didn't help at all either, but their screen time props them up greatly. I've come to enjoy the Vandenreich a lot as a whole over numerous rereads, but my biggest issue with them all is that they're all practically immortal. The closest one to a typical human, Askin, somehow survives his own heart being torn out even if it's only for a little bit. Grimmjoww's frustration over Askin not dying is a sentiment I feel for all of them. It got pretty annoying how Kubo kept bringing them back to life when characters like Nanana and Shaz never even get a single fight, not to mention the number of Shinigami who really didn't get a chance to show off what they can do, namely Iba and Isane, who we've known for far longer. I like the Schutzstaffel, but I don't think I could ever enjoy them to the same degree as any other villainous group, though they might be tied with the Fullbringers.
4:25 I wonder about this though, loyd and royd were apparently born with their powers, which means that yhwach must have only given them the name, but that contradicts what askin says about Gerard and pernida being the only ones. So either kubo forgot or he retconned it, the latter actually being likely since the twins backstory was removed in the anime
Black Ant probably gave them powers when they were still babies. As the narrator states, Royd and Loyd were twins that later on realized they were capable of copying other people. If they got that power in a very early age, it's highly plausible they didn't remember it and thought they had it since birth.
Doesn’t he have to manually give them the power though? Him finding these two babies and going “yeah you’ll do nicely, drink my blood” doesn’t really make sense

I have a theory about Pernida: What if it's supposed to represent a pre-Christian god? Pernida is this very non-humanoid, sentient force of nature (In this case evolution and/or progression) that, along with Gerard, may have been Sternritter longer than Lille. Yes, Lille was the first to be given a Schrift, but Pernida and Gerard were never given Schrifts to begin with, they could both very well predate him in terms of how long they've been in the Wandenreich. Pernida feels ancient in a way that none of the others do. It feels like the sort of god one may hear about during the Neolithic period, before any sort of anthropomorthicization/humanization, like an Eldritch being that operates so far outside our world's paradigm that it seems alien in nature.

The Quincy leader is only nipping at the individual powers of the Zero Squad. They could wield their power just the Quincy king, but they have no desire to tear the realms apart. He was Not able to consume the soul king, though fractured. Unable to wield the power he was able to possess. Like a spoiled child. He played with others until he began to lose them he wanted to take his toys back.
Idk where this fan theory came from that Gremmy was in the royal guard, he was never in the royal guard or stated to be. Yes he was extremely OP but against the Squad Zero he would get packed up instantly. Askin was chosen because of the death dealing an even more over powered ability.
The only other enemy I can think of when Lille says they’ve all been easy is before the start of the war when they took over Hueco Mundo. Were they needed ? Probably not but there were some pretty strong arrancar there
I wonder why yhawch can use aushvallen on them due to the fact that they didn’t sign a contract with through the blood ritual. I thought yhawch couldn’t take from pure blooded Quincy like uryus dad
I wonder if Wurzel, the Wind Sternritter was supposed to be one of the Shutzstaffel. We see him acting as Yhwatch’s bodyguard when he enters the royal palace, protecting him from Tenjiro. His powers seem perfect for being a bodyguard, given he can redirect any and all attacks. Maybe he would have been as strong as Askin and Lillie had he lived to benefit from the Auschwalen buff.
My Issue with the Schutzstaffel (besides its name.. hi from Germany :P ) is that the Shinigami simply pulled never before explained powers out of their Butts to defeat them. Kyoraku just HAPPENS to carry the one wepaon that can defeat Mr. Longneck Owl, Nemu just HAPPENS to be so strong she can wound Penrida enough for Mayuri to finish it off, Hitsugaya just HAPPENS to have an evolved Bankai that helps stalling Gerard long enough until Ywach decides his most overpowered soldier is no longer needed, Uraharas bankai just HAPPENS to be the perfect counter to the Deathdealing Schrift (reviving formelry lethaly poisoned people like Grimmjow). It just felt bad to read this weekly to see the solution being an absolute asspull. Especially Nanao Ise and her sword and Nemu being suddenly "the perfect being". I hope the Anime does this better :P
TBF Kubo did also say that he was gonna develop the Bambi's as well.Which is something he didn't do in the second Cour but what I am hoping for is that he actually commits to it.Bu as for the Schuttelzstaffel am hoping that we as the viewers get to see their backstories regardless of how long or short it is Because at the end of the day we hardly know them as actual people besides them being either funny haxers ☢or just straight out cocky powerhouses🤴🧛♂🌟🌌 So please Kubo please add more character to the Schuttelzstaffel and the Femritters platoon🥺.
But my for my favorite fight it would have to be Mayuri and Zaraki vs Pernida.Brains and Brawn teaming up to fight a hand.But aside from that give Gerard,Pernida,Mimihagi and Gremmy a backstory with some lore to their characters
I would really love it if they gave us more of a backstory to squad 0, definitely would have loved to see how powerful they really were especially since each of them are legendary and key characters. I would have loved to see each of their own bankai, the full extent of their powers, and a fight to the death with schutzstaffle..
As much as I love the extra content they have added around squad 0 and seeing more of them it has damaged the Schutzstaffel's presence as a threat imho. Having the Schutzstaffel body squad 0 with a few extra scenes would have made them feel much more legitimate threat. Hope the first few episodes of cour 3 bring that feeling back to them. Cuz as it stands they just "feel" like more fodder.
I like how he says Grimmjow, he rolls that "r" perfectly, and doesnt really say the "w" either which i think, is the perfect way to say the Espada's name
At the time of weekly releases I didn't like the Lille especially and most of the Schufstuffel fights. They dragged on so long and the scope kept on getting more ridiculous.

Askin all the way! He's the goofiest, yet the most pragmatic Sternritter from them all! Besides, I'm always into laid-back characters like him! 😁

Even tho Askin seems regular, it’s very difficult to kill him. Even Oetsu had slight difficulty.

Barragan definitely was a threat. Only reason he even lost was because of his own power being used against him.

I find it interesting that The Miracle didn't activate when Oetsu slashed Gerard. I wonder if Oetsu unknowingly bisected the Cross.

yeah, same with Jugram's (The Balance) and Uryu's (The Antithesis)
and none of their powers seems to work when senjumaru did her Bankai
If you see the season 3 trailer, you can see that Uryu comes out of Senjumaru’s Bankai and fires a shot. I’m sure he used Antithesis or something

Halibel: did not die after getting cut down by Aizen

Nnoitora: died to Kenpachi using two hands to swing his sword
Grimmjow: defeated by a hollowfied Ichigo but did not die
Zommari: actually killed by Byakuya's bankai by itself
Szayel: survived Mayuri's bankai only to be killed by drugs stored inside Nemu
Aaroniero: died to a shikai because he got cocky
Yammy: took Byakuya in his bankai and Kenpachi working together (while fighting each other) to kill him
zommari actually didnt die from bankai he survived but was killed by byakuya killing him with regular slash
Out of the four, Lille is my favorite with Pernida being runner up. I love Lille's cowboy/sniper aesthetic and loved how anxiety inducing his powers and holy and angel forms were. His eldritch design was a little grinding at first since dude turned into a bird, which made no sense to me, but the design eventually grew on me. It helped that he had a good battle, plus at that time I think One Piece was in the Dressora arc where Bartolomeo got the nickname "Chicken Kun" (translation at that time), which then became my nickname for Lille lol.
I always assumed because Gremmy died Ywatch picked Askin. His powers seemed devine like theirs and he didn’t have a Volstandig like them either.
If for whatever reason gremmy came out alive during that fight, maybe he would have joined them. I agree he was too powerful not to be promoted.
Makes perfect sense. Aa much as I like Gremmy...I'm happy it worked out the way it did. We got way more Askin and Gremmy technically was just hanging around, uhh kinda anyways. Not sure how much of CFYOW is staying in tact seeing as Mena and Candice got the pink slip.
@@aria4830Askin is my second favorite Quincy. I don’t believe they are killing off Bazz B, Candice, and Meninas with the Auswahlen. They’ll probably just give a better explanation in the anime why they didn’t die and others did. We have Uyru and Ichigo’s Mom Misaki who survived it in the past.

I really love the unspoken context Lille comes with. Based on his appearance, unusual name (this goes for a lot of sternritter tbf) and Kyouraku commenting on how his culture must have similar children's games to his own, we can guess that Lille is probably from one of the Quincy clans once conquered by Yhwach. I really hope the anime expands on this a little, feels like there should be some interesting backstory there. On a sidenote, I've always loved how Kubo includes characters and concepts from all kinds of cultures and ethnic backgrounds without ever making it feel forced or stereotyping

My mind was blown away during the Mayuri vs Pernida fight. I never thought I would be left in awe during a Mayuri fight, but dammit it happened. Hands down best fight in the entire arc.
These guys were definitely a genuine threat and I’m so glad Uryu’s true powers are getting expanded. I have to say that if there was just one more member to add to the Elite Quincy, it would have been Gremmy if he had better control of his powers. All of the elites have broken abilities. There’s a part of me that hopes we will see vollstandigs for Hashwalth, Pernida, and Uryu in cour 3.
I think that, if Gremmy hadn't die, he would have been summoned.

Lille Barro's name was recently spoken by Gerard in the English dub TYBW anime, and the pronunciation isn't what most people have been saying (similar to Cang Du [San Too] and As Nodt [Es Nodt]); Lille is pronounced like "Lee Jay."
I wanted to play devil's advocate for why Askin was chosen for fighting against squad zero. While on the surface Askin does not appear to do much of anything, I would argue he slowed down Mayuri. He kept Mayrui from being able to enter the battlefield early in the second invasion. If he was able to enter the battle he could have saved several captain's lives and turn those battles around.
Secondly, Askin kept all of his abilities hidden from the enemy. Therefore he is an unknown factor and his abilities do much more than the other remaining Sternritter which could have been chosen.
Finally, consider how Ywach has chosen to fight this entire war. He has used every surprise tactic and then some. Every time it seems the soul society or one of its members starts to turn things around, Ywach finds the perfect countermeasure. If the enemy doesn't like the bankai, steal it. They found a way around bankai plundering, well defeat them with overwhelming force.
Askin's fighting style and tactics embody how this war has been fought. It's not about honor, it's about winning.
Juha summoning Pernida by calling his surname is a cool moment for me because he barely acknowledges his Royal Guard other than standing before them.
50:58- Kubo mentions his lack of giving backgrounds for his villains is deliberate as giving them backgrounds would humanize them and make the heroes- who are protecting an original sin and have morally dubious origins more villainous in taking them done- and thus making appear as they are- antagonist forces that they have to take down.
The fact that Askin was promoted despite not participating in the second invasion makes me think Ywhach had already decided on bringing him to the Royal Palace before the invasion even began, which makes me wonder if any of the Sternritter who died would’ve also been brought up if they had survived; Gremmy, As Nödt, and maybe even Quilge come to mind.
Gremmy was the only one worthy out of the remaining sternritter that deserved to be promoted. Quilge and as nodt were weak in comparison. The truth is that Gremmy lacked the creativity to be a true threat. As nodt was taken down by rukia who hadn’t even mastered her Bankai. Quilge was getting his ass kicked by ichigo before he even got his true zanpakutou.
Gremmy? Nahh! He’s got the power but he has no discipline or experience and I see him getting in the way of the other members with his AOE moves..
As Nodt isn’t strong enough and Quilge is laughable…

@@gammafrostI don’t think you can really say As Nodt was weak for falling to Rukia’s Bankai. It’s incredibly powerful. Honestly, I wouldn’t doubt it could’ve killed Askin had he been in As Nodt’s position. I think if anything, his fight with Rukia demonstrates just how powerful As Nodt and The Fear were. Rukia had a direct counter to his ability, and she still had to be rescued by Byakuya before she could use her Bankai. Combine how powerful The Fear is with how zealously devout As is to Ywhach, and I think he could’ve made the cut
@@LoganWH8 id say weak compared to the elites. I wasn’t trying to downplay Rukia’s power but it wasn’t at its peak just yet. Gremmy is far more dangerous as an opponent than As Nodt to the point the others feared him and locked him up.
At least these guys actually felt dangerous. Some of them were literally invincible until the plot intervened.
Then you have the Espada; the top three got obliterated and didn’t even knock anyone down. And then Yammy was supposed to be the strongest Espada after his twist but he was still a total joke.

Nanao's zanpakuto was a perfect counter to someone like lille, gerard only died due to the auswhalen and it was the same with jugram, askin got killed from behind by grimmjow without even knowing he was there. Pernida I think is the only one who really got a "fair" death. Even if you don't think they were that impressive or imposing, there is no denying that each of them have some of the most broken and haxed abilities in the series. If it weren't for the plot, I think mayuri would have been the only one to come out alive in terms of the soul reapers

Toshiro, byakuya and kenpachi had absolutely no way of destroying gerards cross, lille said "fuck you" to shunsui and survived insta kill bankai, then immediately transformed, but also had many other opportunities to kill him earlier on in the fight too. I do want some things to change for a couple of these fights in the anime going forward, because they aren't perfect
The only thing I can about Gerald that I think is kinda ironic and I see what the Kubo was going for, is that the man who was all about miracle ends up dying because of a miracle. Never thought about it like that before the video.

When referring to Eras/Ages of Humanity, the 'Modern Era' roughly ended in the 1940s, end of WW2 - which was when artillery was reengineered to be much more effective and longer of a range. Modern is before Atomic, and Atomic before Information which is the current age.

I love the Schutzstaffel and think they are awesome! Lille is definetly my favorite one. Compared to many shonens, like One Piece, where the secondary antagonists turn out to be usually nothing more than goofy and foolish lackeys that lack power, I love how ludicrously overpowered the Schutzstaffel are, to the point they would be the main villains if Yhwach wasn't around, and as such, they give way more stakes to the arc/finale and serve as awesome and arduous obstacles for the others!
They are truly endgame bosses.

But yea, the Schutzstaffel are absolutely wild even with Gerard's weakness confirmed and Senjumaru's Bankai. If you dropped them in almost any anime, that verse is gonna be in for a rough time.
Honestly thats what makes them so terrifyingly cool that you could drop them in any anime and they would be insanely hard to take with.
I really, really hope we get more backstory for them, especially Gerard, after hearing his VA, I have high hopes for some love for him

I gotta say, that haircut looks good! I've honestly never really given much thought to the Schutzstaffel purely because they came at the end of the series, so I'd already become invested in a ton of characters by that point. The lack of backstories didn't help at all either, but their screen time props them up greatly. I've come to enjoy the Vandenreich a lot as a whole over numerous rereads, but my biggest issue with them all is that they're all practically immortal. The closest one to a typical human, Askin, somehow survives his own heart being torn out even if it's only for a little bit. Grimmjoww's frustration over Askin not dying is a sentiment I feel for all of them.
It got pretty annoying how Kubo kept bringing them back to life when characters like Nanana and Shaz never even get a single fight, not to mention the number of Shinigami who really didn't get a chance to show off what they can do, namely Iba and Isane, who we've known for far longer. I like the Schutzstaffel, but I don't think I could ever enjoy them to the same degree as any other villainous group, though they might be tied with the Fullbringers.
4:25 I wonder about this though, loyd and royd were apparently born with their powers, which means that yhwach must have only given them the name, but that contradicts what askin says about Gerard and pernida being the only ones. So either kubo forgot or he retconned it, the latter actually being likely since the twins backstory was removed in the anime
Black Ant probably gave them powers when they were still babies. As the narrator states, Royd and Loyd were twins that later on realized they were capable of copying other people. If they got that power in a very early age, it's highly plausible they didn't remember it and thought they had it since birth.
Doesn’t he have to manually give them the power though? Him finding these two babies and going “yeah you’ll do nicely, drink my blood” doesn’t really make sense

I have a theory about Pernida: What if it's supposed to represent a pre-Christian god?
Pernida is this very non-humanoid, sentient force of nature (In this case evolution and/or progression) that, along with Gerard, may have been Sternritter longer than Lille. Yes, Lille was the first to be given a Schrift, but Pernida and Gerard were never given Schrifts to begin with, they could both very well predate him in terms of how long they've been in the Wandenreich. Pernida feels ancient in a way that none of the others do. It feels like the sort of god one may hear about during the Neolithic period, before any sort of anthropomorthicization/humanization, like an Eldritch being that operates so far outside our world's paradigm that it seems alien in nature.
I hope uryu has a volt - standing and Ryuken has a holyform without the power loss

The Quincy leader is only nipping at the individual powers of the Zero Squad. They could wield their power just the Quincy king, but they have no desire to tear the realms apart. He was Not able to consume the soul king, though fractured. Unable to wield the power he was able to possess. Like a spoiled child. He played with others until he began to lose them he wanted to take his toys back.
I like how it's usually easy to kill hard to keep dead for them but for Askin it's hard to kill easy to keep dead

Idk where this fan theory came from that Gremmy was in the royal guard, he was never in the royal guard or stated to be. Yes he was extremely OP but against the Squad Zero he would get packed up instantly. Askin was chosen because of the death dealing an even more over powered ability.

The only other enemy I can think of when Lille says they’ve all been easy is before the start of the war when they took over Hueco Mundo. Were they needed ? Probably not but there were some pretty strong arrancar there
I think due to the way the miracle works, Gerard would have lost a fair 1v1 battles

I wonder if Wurzel, the Wind Sternritter was supposed to be one of the Shutzstaffel. We see him acting as Yhwatch’s bodyguard when he enters the royal palace, protecting him from Tenjiro. His powers seem perfect for being a bodyguard, given he can redirect any and all attacks. Maybe he would have been as strong as Askin and Lillie had he lived to benefit from the Auschwalen buff.

My Issue with the Schutzstaffel (besides its name.. hi from Germany :P ) is that the Shinigami simply pulled never before explained powers out of their Butts to defeat them. Kyoraku just HAPPENS to carry the one wepaon that can defeat Mr. Longneck Owl, Nemu just HAPPENS to be so strong she can wound Penrida enough for Mayuri to finish it off, Hitsugaya just HAPPENS to have an evolved Bankai that helps stalling Gerard long enough until Ywach decides his most overpowered soldier is no longer needed, Uraharas bankai just HAPPENS to be the perfect counter to the Deathdealing Schrift (reviving formelry lethaly poisoned people like Grimmjow). It just felt bad to read this weekly to see the solution being an absolute asspull. Especially Nanao Ise and her sword and Nemu being suddenly "the perfect being". I hope the Anime does this better :P
I think only Urahara's bankai that felt acceptable (or at least, that's just me). The rest, yeah, are absolute raining asspulls.

As much as I love the extra content they have added around squad 0 and seeing more of them it has damaged the Schutzstaffel's presence as a threat imho. Having the Schutzstaffel body squad 0 with a few extra scenes would have made them feel much more legitimate threat.
Hope the first few episodes of cour 3 bring that feeling back to them. Cuz as it stands they just "feel" like more fodder.

At the time of weekly releases I didn't like the Lille especially and most of the Schufstuffel fights. They dragged on so long and the scope kept on getting more ridiculous.
