And there I was with my headcanon, thinking that it'd be cool if Grimmjow had secret vendetta against AIzen, for making him to become arrancar, before he became vasto lorde on his own power to achieve his destiny...
It's not confirmed though, it just says he is vasto lorde class unless you are talking about something else. It's never confirmed on if he reached vasto lorde before the hogyoku.

I just found out that Grimmjow wasn’t originally supposed to last this long in the story. Apparently Kubo and his editor at the time both agreed that killing off Grimmjow early would be a waste and I’m so happy that it came to that. I love Grimmjow

Even a small piece being eaten off of a Hollow in the Adjuchas state will halt their evolution entirely (can't get regress, but can't get stronger either), so to Grimmjow they were not only attempting to boost him to another level but actively giving up their own ambitions to do so.

And, iirc, it was partly to help Grimmjow from gaining strength by taking some from them, but a huge part of it also was to stabilise them, and make them require less ( maye 0 ) hollow consumption to prevent degeneration, leaving more preys for Grimmjow. But it's been a while since I last read this.
Ichigo vs Grimmjow round 3 is very well delivered in the anime. It’s choreography and animation is amazing and really feel like a hard battle of rivals
There's a reason two of these chapters are called Jugulator*s*. Plural form of Jugulator. Literally meaning "someone who goes to the throat' This is a clash of not just Hollows, but Espadas, at least in spirit, like that other Espada said. It's not just a question of power level, but of what their power is, and how it is used. That's what terrifies Orihime. Hollowification is called hollowification for a reason, it brings shinigamis closer to Hollows. But Ichigo didn't give up his humanity, and that's why he won.
A fantastic fight that absolutely deserves its position as one of the series most iconic. I really love the parallel between Grimmjow and Hollow Ichigo that is shown in this battle as well. They both illustrate how the very nature of Hollows is so closely tied to the concept of having to be the strongest you can be in order to survive. You must become the King of you own world or be devoured. Great stuff overall!
This is the start of a succession of awesome badass fights. Each one you'll say 'That was the coolest thing ever. No way anything can top that' until the next chapter.
Ichigo's concept of saving someone doesn't stop when he gets them away from the people that threatened them - it stops when he proves to the people that threatened them that if they try to come after his friends again - he can and will stop them - that they won't get away with it a second time. That is the driving force behind all of his actions, and I love that about his character.
Love how you called so much of Grimmjow’s personality here “cute” and “sentimental”, as that was clearly how he would seem if he wasn’t a hollow! The interpersonal relationships between the hollows is IMO the coolest and most interesting parts of the Arrancar arc. How they keep walking the line between savage and dutiful, emotionless but also living by instincts. Grimmjow being based on a panther makes the animal parallels very obvious, but actually I believe that most of the arrancars (if not all of them) are based on an animal by design. It’s definitely an eat or be eaten world out there, despite all of them unconsciously and desperately not only holding on to their humanity but actively SEARCHING for it (as Vasto Lorde class are the most humanoid of the menos grande)
For me i always loved how Ichigo and grimmjow went into almost like a jungle brawl. Like ichigo either listened to White and Kenpachi or the mask itself made an influence to make him tunnelvisioned into it. Then Orihime snaps him out of it, and he is able to take the win.
17:04 Ichigo also was somewhat insecure when he saw how fearful Orihime was of him when he put on the mask remember Ichigo himself fears and hates his hollow powers and thinks of white as a monster so he was in a mental rut when fighting Grimmjow when Orihime cheered for him it kinda woke up him or gave him that extra push
btw the anime extends Grimmjow's backstory and we learn that an adjuchas stops gaining power from eating hollows if even a single bite is ever taken out of them by another adjuchas and their evolution potential is added to that of the first adjuchas that ingests their flesh. There is also an implied long bit of time between Grimmjow biting D-Roy and the rest which is why D-Roy was so much weaker than the others.

Orihimme's cheers are the most powerfull buffs in series. Nothing uplifts Ichigo and gives him new reservoir of strength as much as Orihimme cheering him up.
First things first, The whole inner monologue from miss (you still don't know her name) about Ichigo and Grimmjows fight looking like its a battle between two Espada is still one of those peak raw lines. Orhime's reaction may show us what the mask seems like to humans also how many Soul Reapers would react to hollowification while that line shows that the top of the line version Ichigo has can seem just like an Arrancar, a beast that has tamed itself. Also yeah I do remember the whole "consuming a part of a Menos class halts their evolution between its ranks, cant fall back but can't progress" sounding a bit more total than it really is during the convo in the manga back when it was only source that describes it, databooks do tell us it legit only needs to be a pretty small amount eaten by another hollow to work really showing how hard even maintaining the middle stage is. Was also a good move from Grimmjows gang who confirmed they cant evolve more beyond Adhuchas yet Grimmjow did win the 0.0 something something 1 chance to even have the ability to maybe reach Vasto Lorde to maintain their state and give Grimmjow a pretty big meal even if its only bits of them. Grimmjows release is also one of the relases that best shows how they bring out the old Hollow within yet still very humanoid as the loss of the mask should bring, some others revert enough they feel like less perfect Arrancars and others have some weirder ways of handling it like number 9 to say just enough.

Bro the Ichigo vs Grimmjow fight is 100% one of my favorites in the entire series, I really think you're going to enjoy the stuff with Nnoitra and his depth as a character. He's definitely the kind of character where you have 1 perception of him towards the beginning and the more you learn about him the more you realize there's a lot more underneath than mask he puts on

Ichigo has used that mask so much that it has gone through 3 design changes, his time limit keeps increasing and the smug man that is white Ichigo hasn't said a word in a while, be that because he's consolidating his strength (how would you do that? Idk) or the scarier possiblity if you were to ask ichigo, because maybe they're merging towards a middle point? A 3/4ths of the way point? Who knows? But I bet that if you sat down with Ichigo for a talk there's one possibility (that doesn't invalidate the other 2 if that happened to be the case) that I think would be even scarier for him, that maybe on at least that subject matter that he and white he agree it's just that he's been too busy protecting people that he didn't realize he's always been like that, remember how he got against renji the first time they fought before Urahara even began the process that brought out the mask? And if that's a thing then in what other aspects is he like his hollow (albeit made reasonable by his humanity and other goals and ambitions)
The moment he heard Grimmjow I bet he didn't even bother trying to sense where he was. He just went right to Ichigo and was like yep I knew it 😒 guess I have to deal with this now.
this was one of the defining battles in bleach, it was a perfect storm for the anime and manga, and Kubo delivered, but the high doesn't stop now, and not even Nnoitra can pull this arc down, you won't believe what's coming, on another note, it's fun how well Kubo used spanish as a theme for this arc, specially with the antagonist now being called "Arrancar" which means to forcibly rip off or take something off when the arrancar are beings that ripped off their mask in order to evolve, that among other few details have always been neat IMO.
Grimjaw got a bite of Lerroy earlt on so he couldn't evolve anymore and was the weakest. Others were bitten by Grimjaw later when they were more powerful already. He just bit them not ate them.
i like your vision and how you analyzed Grimmjow's ambition and character when you said that you would love to see him appear again later to be an ally... it looks like you really understand what kubo want the viewer to understand
When a part of you as an Adjuchas is eaten, your growth stops, but it's also your regression that stops. Basically: If a part is eaten, you stay right where you are. Grimmjow eats a piece of his fellow Adjuchas not only to gain strength from them but also to keep them as Adjuchas. The female Espada isn't thinking Ichigo feels strong like an Espada, she thinks Ichigo feels more like a Hollow than a human or Shinigami.
You're correct: as a Hollow Grimmjow ate parts of his Fraccion both to further empower him and to keep them from regressing as per their wish. When a Menos has even a part of them eaten they cannot progress further.
Fun fact: Kubo confirmed that when Grimmjow tore off Loly's leg, she was about to offer him sex to save herself. This, plus the fact Loly seems to think she has some kind of authority, plus how she feel "threatened" by Orihime's presence despite not knowing about her abilities, I'll let you draw your own conclusion but I have mine.

After getting told that I've got a bad personality I haven't talked much about it openly, but what happens before and after that scene is one of my favorite moments! A144: "I'll let you bang me!" is what she would have said. Judging by Loly's character, this is the kind of thing she would've said to save her skin. A friend of mine who is a popular mangaka also told me that they loved that scene so feel free to talk about it.

On a lark I started reading Bleach on the Shonen Jump app and I got so invested I finished it all within a month! After I got done I found these videos, I just subscribed can’t wait to see your reactions to some upcoming stuff!

Yeah, even eating a small chunk of a hollow gets their powers. They offered up a part of their bodies, but they didn’t die. Most hollows can regenerate at least a little bit
Round 3 of Ichi vs Grim is done incredibly well in the anime. The new original tracks that were introduced in that episode are also absolutely fantastic.
The Only grimmjow fraccion that is a Gillian is nakeem. And in his gillian form he look like a normal Gillian menos grande with a slightly different mask.
Btw at the end of each chapter there are small sketches made by Kubo Sensei. Keep an eye on them they will give you some other way to look at the chapter
But a big part of this battle was that Grimmjow was right, Ichigo does love fighting it wasen‘t just his hollow side, someone who only fights for their loved ones would not enjoy fighting, Ichigo does enjoy the fights tho even if he diden‘t want to admit it before this fight, like yeah he fights to protect his loved ones but he also does it cause he likes it, thats what irked Grimmjow about Ichigo, the fact that Ichigo is trying to deny part of himself and not being 100% true to himself

[Spoilers] I'd say this fight is surpassed quite quickly. If not by Vasto Lorde, by Deicide ( the names are voluntarily obfuscated, in case people accidentally spoil themselves ) Oh and also, Grimmjow isn't dead, but he won't show up for a whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile. And Nnoitra's opponent won't be Ichigo, but the Tercera Espada.
I always assumed it's because she's not a regular human so the mind wipe doesn't work fully on her. Like it did at the time but after she awoke her powers the mind wipe faded away.
Well I assume it doesn't work on people with atleast some amount of reiatsu that well? Inoue remembered Ichigo fighting to protect her after Rukia erased her memory. I just wish that we would get more of Urahara's funky soul items

this was one of the defining battles in bleach, it was a perfect storm for the anime and manga, and Kubo delivered, but the high doesn't stop now, and not even Nnoitra can pull this arc down, you won't believe what's coming, on another note, it's fun how well Kubo used spanish as a theme for this arc, specially with the antagonist now being called "Arrancar" which means to forcibly rip off or take something off when the arrancar are beings that ripped off their mask in order to evolve, that among other few details have always been neat IMO.
You notice that grimmjow when his get Defeated he regress to his base form.

Grimjaw got a bite of Lerroy earlt on so he couldn't evolve anymore and was the weakest. Others were bitten by Grimjaw later when they were more powerful already. He just bit them not ate them.

When a part of you as an Adjuchas is eaten, your growth stops, but it's also your regression that stops.
Basically: If a part is eaten, you stay right where you are.
Grimmjow eats a piece of his fellow Adjuchas not only to gain strength from them but also to keep them as Adjuchas.
The female Espada isn't thinking Ichigo feels strong like an Espada, she thinks Ichigo feels more like a Hollow than a human or Shinigami.
Yea in the dub she does say its like a fight between 2 espada that could be a line error

You're correct: as a Hollow Grimmjow ate parts of his Fraccion both to further empower him and to keep them from regressing as per their wish. When a Menos has even a part of them eaten they cannot progress further.
Fun fact: Kubo confirmed that when Grimmjow tore off Loly's leg, she was about to offer him sex to save herself. This, plus the fact Loly seems to think she has some kind of authority, plus how she feel "threatened" by Orihime's presence despite not knowing about her abilities, I'll let you draw your own conclusion but I have mine.

After getting told that I've got a bad personality I haven't talked much about it openly, but what happens before and after that scene is one of my favorite moments!

"I'll let you bang me!" is what she would have said. Judging by Loly's character, this is the kind of thing she would've said to save her skin. A friend of mine who is a popular mangaka also told me that they loved that scene so feel free to talk about it.

Round 3 of Ichi vs Grim is done incredibly well in the anime. The new original tracks that were introduced in that episode are also absolutely fantastic.

Ichigo stopping Grimmjow and then really sets the tone for this fight. One of the ultimate clashes of their rivalry.
But a big part of this battle was that Grimmjow was right, Ichigo does love fighting it wasen‘t just his hollow side, someone who only fights for their loved ones would not enjoy fighting, Ichigo does enjoy the fights tho even if he diden‘t want to admit it before this fight, like yeah he fights to protect his loved ones but he also does it cause he likes it, thats what irked Grimmjow about Ichigo, the fact that Ichigo is trying to deny part of himself and not being 100% true to himself

I'd say this fight is surpassed quite quickly. If not by Vasto Lorde, by Deicide ( the names are voluntarily obfuscated, in case people accidentally spoil themselves )

And Nnoitra's opponent won't be Ichigo, but the Tercera Espada.
Her recollection of her brother as a hollow is actually a plot hole since rukia erased her memory of the entire incident.
I always assumed it's because she's not a regular human so the mind wipe doesn't work fully on her. Like it did at the time but after she awoke her powers the mind wipe faded away.
