Aaron Dessner said in an interview that Taylor wrote both the male and female view points of the songs and when they thought who would fit this song and he brought Justin to the song he said Justin added some stuff and change some. so at the end it was all of them. :)
One thing I really like is the final chorus with both both of them singing together for the first time. She sings the high part, he sings the low part. But then, it changes and she switches to the low and he sings the high part. The final part of the chorus “I’ve seen this film before so I’m leaving out the side door”, it switches again and she sings the high part. And I can’t tell if he went low or she is singing that part alone. I think she is singing alone. And I love the simplicity of her piano. I’ve heard complaints that the melody follows the piano. But that’s why I like it, it’s so simple. Pretty piano.
I must say Justin is a great artist too and that he added some changes to the song but the lines "i think i've seen this film before and i didn't like the ending" "you were my town now i'm in exile seeing you out" is pretty much a Taylor thing to write. She had some lines similar to those before in her discography.
Taylor wrote the song. Sent it to Aaron Dessner and asked him if he thought Bob Iver would sing the other part. Justin added the “all this time” lyric.
When I listened to the album, I immediately knew this was a song Dessner produced. The piano and the ambiance it creates in the song reminds me of The National's Nobody Else Will Be There, or even a bit like Fake Empire. Not that Exile sounds exactly like those songs, it's more that it just felt like a song Dessner had to be involved in.
@@JacobRestituto My way of saying that people focused on the clicking sound of your mouse rather than your video reaction to the track, Exile. Funny what people focus their attention on.
Jacob Restituto thank you for continuing to produce content. I know things have been slow in the growth of your channel (recently), but keep grinding and it’ll all pay off!

nice!
Justin wrote the bridge and Taylor Swift's boyfriend Joe Alwyn wrote the piano part. Means Justin and Joe co-wrote this song
@@teteidtchhangte88 yup yup, we love a talented couple
I think Taylor will score another Grammy with Album, it's amazing
That’d be cool
She did
aged like wine
Then she puts out a SECOND album in the same year that’s also incredible
Obvio

You should check out the Long Pond Studio Session for Exile.
Justin (Bon Iver) wrote the entire bridge. She said it on the Long Pond Sessions interview given before the song was performed.
Finally yesss!

It also gives me flashbacks to Bon Iver's Wash.
Taylor's writing lends itself well to music that sounds like this.
This song in the Long Pond Sessions is the best version….duet from two locations because of Covid…
The clicking reaction was great!

Wondering what equipment is Taylor s headphone attached to?! Is it a headphone amplifier????
Likely used as monitors to hear all then instruments and her voice
