The all-new BMW G80-series M3 and M4 are the fastest, most powerful M3 and M4 ever, with an optional 500-HP tune on the S58 engine in Competition trim. But they are also hideously ugly at every angle, they have become huge, and they have been muted by the electronic gods. BUT, BMW is #savingthemanuals because both the coupe and sedan come with an optional 6-speed manual! Is three pedals enough driving engagement to bring the fun back to the blandest M4 yet? Zack and Matt find out.
BMW of North America provided the vehicle, insurance, and a tank of fuel for this review.

Its not 100K! It's a little over 80K with a decent spec. (albeit if you tick all the boxes you can get to 100) Also some of the prices are off (cooled seats are 300 and carbon 950)... Finally, im going to be on the right side of history on this one - the car is going to go down as passable if not good looking.

I love this car actually, I think it's the peak of M cars... Comfortable and spacious enough, fast enough to give a 992 Carrera S a run for its money both on a track and on a straight line, despite being much less expensive. It's good to drive, it has good quality interiors, good infotainment, good safety features... It can also be used as an AWD so it has good traction everywhere. It's a wonderful all-rounder, nearly perfect. The design is polarizing but I don't mind it honestly. Besides, I value content more than looks. I don't care if it's automatic or manual, turbo or NA, it's a great sportcar and a most importantly a great all-rounder, possibly the best one in the market. The direct rivals are the the RS5 and the c63 AMG but none of them have the same performances of the BMW. The cars that rival the BMW in performances are in the league of the Aston Martin Vantage or the 992 Carrera S, but they cost a lot more and they're less usable for daily driving, less spacious, less versatile...

Not only that but perhaps more importantly, you buy a manual to shift because its enjoyable. The new mustang for example hits 50+ mph in first gear, you are not able to have any fun on public roads, because 2nd gear will pass any speed limit.

    • @FrenchAmericanTravel

@@arthurx333 I had two 5.0s (PP) with the 3.73 gears, making it so that I had to shift two-three times before I reached 60 mph (riiiiiight at the end of 2nd). I have way more fun in those cars than I ever did in my 5.0s (even though I still had plenty of fun in them), despite driving them on public roads (with the occasional canyon carving). And trust me, I still do plenty of shifting around town, so the joy of it is still there. That said, less powerful cars may be more fun with shorter gears, as they trick you into thinking you're driving a "fast car" due to the fast revs. You can still have plenty of fun with longer gears if used with the right car.
