I loved this combination man. Depends on what kind of music you do, but if you rock a lot of distortion, might be something to consider.

its cool you like jackson im more of an esp guy. both companies whether its custom shop or the high end imports make damn fine well playing instrument. its all preference. i used to play only ibanez guitars for ten years till i started noticing lots of bands i listen to using esp and ltd guitars. so i checked them out and been blown away at how well built the guitars are.
I personally think Jackson were better in the 80's. Now you have to pay at least 2 grand to get that same quality. I prefer Ibanez myself. And I'm pretty sure Deans are pretty much exclusively designed for metal.

am a lefty, and kept trying online to buy an V50 (for quartertone fretboard - arabic microtonal - modification), but kept getting jerked around by vendors who didn't really have anything in stock. I ended up actually finding an Alexi-200 lefty, and it's shipping to the luthier for mods right now. i do like the simplicity of them.

The greyhound ate my pet rabbit and I remember being pretty annoyed about the whole situation. No idea what that has to do with this guy but sniff... sniff... might have something to do with it.
He could use any pickup he wants but he chooses an EMG HZ. I'm not a huge EMG fan but why the fuck would he use the cheap ass version of an 80. HZ's are used in low to mid range guitars because they are cheap and sound like shit. No wonder his tone completely sucks, I mean he's a good guitar player but he has an atrocious tone. I'm not knocking the guy, I like some of his albums but I just don't understand why he uses such a terrible pickup. If your gonna pay the kind of money his signature guitar is you expect a high quality pickup. For that money you should not have to replace a single thing on the instrument. I'm sure he likes the sound but if that's true I think his ear is suspect. Nevertheless, I respect the guy, he's made a few quality records.

I agree with you for the most part I personally love EMGs that are active, which they are made really for heavy metal. The EMG HZ pickups have less of a high gain distortion but more clean clarity. But over all with the proper settings passive EMGS are still cool as hell and sound killer under the proper settings..

He had a bunch of Jacksons which were all stolen from a tourbus I believe and he needed new guitars made and Jackson told him they'd need (not sure about the exact times) something around a year to make them so he asked ESP and they said they'd get them his custom model in 3 or 4 months.
