@@jodij6280just try it I feel everyone should see it if you don’t like musicals you may not like it but there’s a great world building, story, and so much depth to the world of oz
They said an important item to them was to sing while filming live. Neither one or them need assistance with enhancement for their voice. They are both amazing live.
lol its a prequel to The Wizard of Oz. So Elphaba (green) is the wicked witch of the west. Galinda (pink) is Glinda the good witch that gives Dorthy the shoes. the movie out right now is only part 1 and ends the same way the act 1 of the stage show ends. second part is out next year and will follow the second act.
Part 1 is quite literally a prequel to the events of the wizard of oz. By definition. Part two is a parallel storyline telling what’s happening while Dorthy is there. I’m quite aware that wicked was not written by L. Frank Baum.
You will love this movie, even without seeing the musical stage show. It's a story of the Wicked Witch of the West based on the book by Gregory Maguire. The characters Glinda (blonde) and Elphaba (green) were in school during this song/video and were basically thrown together as roommates. The performances from Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are extraordinary. Jon Chu built an unbelievable world and you are totally immersed in it once the film starts. Part One is what's out right now with Part Two coming in November of 2025. Great reaction as always!
Saw it the day after Thanksgiving and absolutely loved it. I knew a few songs from it but that was all I knew going in. Just know that it’s only Part 1 of the show! Part 2 comes out next year.
It’s a must watch on the big screen. I went in blind and came out crying and felt like I finally had an old school movie experience. Like how our grandparents must have felt watching the OG OZ for the first time.
The production budget was $150 million, and as of 12/11, the gross receipts were $460 million--that is after 20 days of screen time. There was quite a large advertising budget, for sure. But for old and new fans of Wicked, the advertising budget for Part 2 will be next to nothing. Most fans want to see Part 2 yesterday.
I saw it twice. Planning on seeing it again. I saw the stage show 3 times but the movie added more meat. It’s the first part of 2 which is coming out next year. It was so good.
Fyi pentatonix is doing this on tour right now. There are some fan videos out there. Mitch and kirstie do the leads. It has instruments because they did a version on a wicked special years ago.
Definitely, go see it!!! I have seen the stage production a couple times and have seen the movie once, but will see that again also! Sooo good!! Music is crazy good!! If you know nothing about it, maybe read a synopsis of it just to understand how it ties to “The Wizard of Oz”. Please do more songs from this once you have seen it! Btw…it needs to be seen on the big screen!! Loved this reaction!! 🎶💕
Very enjoyable movie. Despite its length, I was only bored for a few minutes. Well done, great acting. People are already seeing it multiple times. It’s a classic.
You don't have to have watched the stage version to enjoy the movie. It's a really good movie and a very cinematic and surprisingly emotional movie. I hope you go see it and, if so, that you'll do a reaction afterwards.
I wish all reactions were like yours, play the whole video through, listen to it with minimal noises, virtually no pausing and commentary, then talk about it after.
There’s a series of books that start with this one. Then a Musical on broadway. Now a movie. I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical with doing a movie. I was worried it would be cheesy like Cats was.
The film and its soundtrack are great, they do an awesome job, but the original Broadway recording.. it's just slightly less produced, slightly less gimmicky, slightly more feeling? But that could be bias from that being my first experience of it of course. Have a listen to this track from that recording and see what you think. Defying Gravity is amazing. Popular is incredibly fun. I'm Not That Girl is heartbreaking. As Long As You're Mine is sensual and desperate. No Good Deed is angry. For Good is loving and tragic. As a whole it's a work of art whether the theatre show, or the film. Can listen to it again and again.
Just saw it yesterday blew my mind.... defying gravity had me in tears
I had no interest in seeing this before the video but I do now.
@@jodij6280It’s soooo good!!! I’ve been to see it 3 times 😂
That's when I started crying too!! We've waited so many years for this movie and it was just better than I ever imagined. What an "ending"!

Prequel through the end of Wiz of Oz. I mean it does start with her getting “melted”.
It’s a non canonical retelling to be exact. It’s the best fan fiction ever.
It’s not a prequel but a reimagining of the Oz story from a different perspective based on a totally different book.

@@oliviarivera3680 Except for the song "No One Mourns the Wicked". That takes place AFTER the Wizard of Oz. Most of the show is basically a flashback.

I only saw it twice. Tomorrow I’m going to watch the Spanish dubbed version
I actually have already. Trying to decide if I want to make it 6
@ just bought my 6th ticket for tonight😝
And for most of the movie they sing LIVE! Amazing
Is there any autotune in the songs in this film?
@@SuperPlacido1There’s some pitch correction added
This has been out on Broadway for 20 years. Won many awards and now has been nominated for Golden Globes
It's going to have Oscars in store as well for sure.
Saw it three times. The soundtrack is on in my house nonstop. I'm obsessed!
The window behind Arianas head like a halo ❤ this is CINEMA 🎉

Next time the full movie!
I saw it on opening day and have seen it 4 times in theatres. Going for a fifth time next Friday. It’s an experience that’s all I can say 😂
JFYI - Cynthia & Ariana sang LIVE for the filming.

Watch the Wizard of Oz before you See Wicked. You’ll be glad you did!😀
Once it is available react to the 11 minute performance of Dancing Through Life performed by Johnathon Bailey and the entire cast.
