I like the suggestions, but aside from using common sense, I think it's best to do you and wear whatever YOU truly feel good in and like. If your date is critical of your style, they aren't a match for you.
,If you can't put an effort to impress on a first date, imagine what it will be like several dates down the road. And people wonder why they're single....
@@CoffeewithCarey oh 💯. In fact, the man I dated for several years (we just broke up sadly 😔) dressed in all these ways - well-fitted jeans, dress boots, well fitted t shirts or button down shirts and appropriate layers. He always looked great! I wish more men would get the message. It makes a huge difference in first impressions
Since pandemic started my first dates are always taking a walk in a park so sneakers/athletic shoes appropriate! Have my dog along as a second opinion on his character.
A new guy came by briefly and my cat hid for hours. When I came in after visiting him, she was jittery, and he doesn't have pets. I work with hundreds of people every day and she's never been uneasy when I came in. Confirmation.
I was thinking more of a moo moo and a bag with two holes cut out for my eyes? Of course I was going to decorate the paper bag that goes over my head. Any suggestions?
Well...My first date was swimming. It's my favorite thing on earth, so I found it considerate of him. Thus, I broke rule #1. To be fair, It wasn't my idea - I thought my expiration date was past and I was coming to terms with that. My severe anxiety ruins promising relationships anyway, so I have nothing to lose.
hahhaha. I love that you found something you both enjoyed to do on a first date at first I thought you were telling me it went ‘swimmingly’. Lol Based on your comment, i assume you were not wearing one of those super cool, full body swimsuits. but I’m fairly certain, your choice was perfectly acceptable! Nothing to lose indeed!
One pieces never were flattering on me. I work out so I can still pull off a bikini. For what it's worth, I decided against a super skimpy pink number, even though I love it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like we're compatible. The upside is I'll be watching more coffeewithcarey. Take care!@@CoffeewithCarey
my thoughts would be as long as they are stylish, nice jeans, and then that whole outfit has more to do with the shoes. it seems that people really notice shoes.
Thanks for mentioning the aspect that people may fee disrespected if one doesn't dress up. I am a 51 year old female and literally am just learning this lately. I personally always thought it was wrong to judge a person by their appearance- Albert Einstein had messy hair, and Ted Bundy was seen as charming because of how he presented himself. Its super misleading-- a lot of terrible people look nice and well dressed. You're right though it's true.😑
It’s not about judging. It’s just shows that a person is thoughtful and puts in effort for some thing they think is special. So it’s just a piece of information you can take into account when deciding if you want to see someone again.
I guess I'm old fashioned but I am 64. I would never date a woman that has publicly viewable tattoos. To me, it shows a lack of adult judgement and immediately identifies you as someone who is not comfortable as you are. A tattoo is like painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa thinking you are going to make it look better.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and you should date people you are attracted to. 👍 But since you brought it up, I think that does represent an old-fashioned way of looking at body art. I feel pretty confident in guaranteeing you that at least one of your doctors has a tattoo under their lab coat, unless they are all senior citizens. 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I would only say that not everybody likes the same things. There’s a whole athleisure movement That might disagree with your sweats preference. Also Ironing doesn’t seem to be much of a thing anymore. You and I are on the same page as far as hygiene for sure!
You only have one chance to give a good impression ! Shower and smell clean , dress well, clean shoes Don't dress like a homeless ! Show class and good style
Ladies should look after their feet and their lungs .......as you say wear the right shoes and avoid strong alcohol as there is the risk of cancer..... throat etc !
@@CoffeewithCarey Yes Alcohol raises the risk of Cancer , ladies drinking spirits are running a high risk of cancer . Its something you dont hear too much about unless you read the leaflets in your local medical clinic or hospital !

I would like to say that men should not wear baseball hats 🧢 and bermuda shorts.
Let’s clarify that you mean on dates. Because of course they should wear Bermuda shorts and caps! Lol.🤎😎👍
Great video, Carey. Yes, I agree that how you dress on a first date makes a lasting impression. And you're right, it shouldn't be frumpy.
Or contain a strong aroma of patchouli! Hahha
@@CoffeewithCarey You had me laughing out loud. Lady you are truly a blessing! Thank you!

This was excellent and on point.
Is it still relevant? I haven’t watched it in a while.

Thank you for sharing wardrobe advice Mrs Carey and definitely something to consider.
Great information to know… I met a woman and wore too much cologne… she freaked out….
Some people are very sensitive! Don’t forget to never wear it to a movie theater or on an airplane too!

I think your dogs opinion and enthusiasm should be the determining factor! ;)
That’s an awesome idea 💡! No pressure; no awkward cost about who pays; etc.

Practical shoes can allow you to escape a dangerous situation.
I’m playing the odds and wearing sexy shoes. Always. Because it’s about how I feel.
@@CoffeewithCareyI need to be sure the guy's okay first. It can be a sexy little pair of lace ups.

Funny, 😊
But you’re giving up a whole area of personal expression that you could instead choose to embrace. 🤷🏻♀️🤎
The reason not to wear perfume is that your date can smell you! This is very important information about anybody
Fake smell is just weird to me. Lol
Important to smell him.....bad smells are a no go.

Sneakers are attractive ❤
Oh and about the high heeled shoes - if you wear them??? Make sure you can run in them! Just in case you need to :o)

Wear what makes you feel good!
What about jeans with a nice top? I wear jeans everyday

Ew! No sweats for guys or girls, ever. Ladies love good hygiene and manners, ironed clothing, and down to earth personality.

Of course. When you’re lounging!

Because over 10,000 people were interested in being a part of that conversation. 🙄
