switchboard is nice and i thought few times that i could make one custom too (also turbo lamik TCU is configured as switchboard for EMU's), only thing that bothered me but with keyboard is that you are key states limited. Mostly by colors, so you can only have as many states as you have colors (wanted to use one button for like 10maps with different boost levels and ALS and other map targets (one state would change more than one map)).
I thought the Can Switchboard V3 was just a dinky thing I paid too much for a few years ago until I finally started digging into it and looking for an alternative... It literally does everything a $200+ can keypad can do and more with the rotary knob and analog input functionality. It's almost like a device that turns my ECUMaster Black to a Black+ if that ever existed. Everything I'd ever need from an add-on device, but the amount of wiring it adds is a bit annoying
Andre wanted another rotary switch for the new torque modelling setup otherwise the SR86 would still have the Ecumaster CAN switchboard that was in use before this upgrade. Great wee tool - Taz.
Agreed with wire gauge and niche connectors. I hate when product comes with pre soldered/epoxied thin wire gauge wires and some connector that is hard to source/replace in that given module.. Just recently i wired EDL 1 module, was nice that it came with pre-terminated cable on one end (to edl) but on the other side it goes to small pin on emu Black (so 15A pin like on PDM and it was l think 24AWG - 0.22mm2). Did anyone think when designing the Kit (or module) about the "quality of life/service life" or "quality of termination" when you splice thin gauge wire to pin that is designed for thicker wires (so it has thicker walls and can cut wire when terminating more easily)? I think i wired it to DTM connector and then to ecu trough unshielded thicker wire (TXD serial wire) but that is one extra step and could be easily avoided (by using 4x0.34mm2 liy-cy instead of 0.25 variant) 0.34mm2 - 22AWG TXL is imho smallest I would design for
Nice one , all interesting stuff. The question I would like to ask is … What are the issues if any of using the Aim style dash that isn’t stand alone, and can this be used with the motec M1 series ECU . ? Maybe a nice little bit over the Xmas period would be to maybe do a bit on digital rear view mirrors utilising chinesium car kits and TFT screens ,in car camera data/ footage, Options for alternative tyre temperature sensor kits using infrared sensors off Ebay etc and the possible integration to a modern ECU ( motec please 😉) . Quite a tall order and quite complex but I’m sure many many club racers would appreciate a basic breakdown of budget friendly options .😉🏴
I made one with a wireless transmitter and receiver 4 button easy to do 3d printed the back plate aluminium front with buttons in i wanted to remove steering wheel so you cant atart engine has engine start horn at min

I love all ecumaster products. The can switchboard is literally unmatched in its price range.
