You are back in Portugal! Tell me you went to see the Golegã Lusitano Festival? I have mentioned it before to you, but it is a must do - it gives ‘living with horses’ a new meaning! Beautiful episodes on the Portuguese horses so far and cannot wait for the next breed to be featured. Inspiring, and a wonderful series. Thank you for all you do 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
this is such a powerful reminder of how a small decision can lead to unimaginable outcomes. From a doctor's advice to Olympic dreams - Monte Velho is proof that passion and belief can create wonders. Beautifully shared, Alyssa
My dream, even though I am 71 years old now, is to have a horse sanctuary. I didn't give up on my dream I was sidelined by an injury, but the desire is still there.
One of my favorite dressage freestyle rides from the Olympics held in Japan three years ago was a beautiful gray Lusitano stallion ridden by a rider representing Portugal. He wasn't in contention for the medals but he did qualify to ride in the finals. The horse was magnificent. He was small compared to the other horses in the Dressage finals but he was all heart and very good at his job. One of his most amazing movements that he did was performing the Two Tempes (flying lead changes every second stride) in a circle! No other horse did this because they usually perform this cantering in a straight line across the diagonal of the dressage arena. Instead, this Lusitano did them in a circle, which means part of the time he was actually counter cantering when he was in the opposite lead. That added to his score for this particular movement because of the difficulty of it. At the end the rider and his team from Portugal were very excited because his score at the Japan Olympics was his personal best score with this horse ever. I just fell in love with that little horse and have watched his performance over and over. You can find the full video of all the riders in the Japan Olympics Dressage finals on TH-cam. I believe it's on The Olympics channel. This horse and rider combo were among the first to ride. I'm pretty sure he's in the first ten horses to ride in the Dressage Freestyle Final that year so he wouldn't be hard to find. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the rider or the horse right now, but they were great. I re-watch it still whenever it may come up again on my feed.
A dream that i have always had is to become a professional rider, have my own stable and sanctuary to not only teach, help and train but to rescue and buy horses that are in need of help. I also want to ride with wild horses out in the wilderness as well as make any horse girl or boys dream come true because there are so many that just move on to other things and abandon the thing they love the most for some random job but i will help them and recommend them places to go to and what to do to achieve their dream because everyone deserves to have their dream come true in my opinion.
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for sharing this paradise with us! And also for sharing about the history - so interesting because it’s so unusual. My dream is to find a way back to riding (therapy riding) and/or driving horses even with me being in a wheelchair and chronically ill. I have learned through my situation that you absolutely can reach your dreams. But like he said - you need to stick to it! Even if it might take years to achieve - it’s still possible.
Paradise :) I had the dream to have a horse farm at 7 yrs old but alas too many other things pulled my attention away. I get emotional watching every video you post. :) I'm in awe of those who accomplish their dreams so beautifully. Those horses absolutely exude pride in their step. Magnificent.
Your videos are always a happy moment! Amazing horses, beautiful landscapes, passionate people, interesting traditions... and you are quite the horsewoman riding unknown horses with all sorts of tack with ease, elegance and smiles!
Wow, just beautiful!! What a great story. Personally, I've got several dreams ^^ I'd like to leave poverty behind and become financially independent. Also, I'd love to ride a well trained reining horse and go on treks around the world. Plus I would love to visit Japan. ❤️ And do good for people.
My dream came true - I've wanted a horse since age 3, and ideally a horse that can do upper level dressage since 12. Through sheer coincidence, I ended up with Fancy, or Royal Fancy as her registered name is. She is 22, highly trained, and a gorgeous and sweet dark bay Hanoverian. She is perfect in every way and is unbelievably honest and well behaved. I love her more than I love anything or anyone else in the world. We are shooting for Prix St Georges someday and I can't wait to show her!
Love Lusitanos. My dream to have a draft horse conservation ranch. To show case all draft horses and teach about them and our history with them. This is the first time I have mentioned it as well. I want this and working towards it.
Creating a horse property, where I can teach people my passion and help horses with people problems. We’re actually working on buying a property now so fingers crossed
i have a few dreams, but i would be happy if i achieved just one or two of them! one is to own a Kladruber horse, since they're my favorite breed. another is that i create a new breed of horse. (incredibly unlikely for many reasons, the expense of it one of the biggest, but still fun to imagine!) another is that i begin a program where i train mustangs and rehome them, helping to lower the ridiculously high numbers of mustangs stuck in BLM holding pens, i'm very passionate about this (and i'm actually somehow on my way to making this one come true... i bought land recently and my family and i are in the process of getting the property built up to make this happen). and, not directly related to horses, i would like to finish writing my novel series and maybe get it published one day. but several of these dreams of mine are actually possible, some of them already in the works. the moral of this video is so true! never give up on your dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem, there's always a possibility through strong effort and a pinch of luck that they can come true!
Are you planning on riding mules? If so, and you don't already have a place, you should go to Bishop CA. They host one of the biggest mule shows in the world. Idk if you will even see this lol but just a thought.
I can see on google maps that there are like 10 monte velho's, but than i could see equo resort is near to Lisboa. It's a very nice breed, but almost same as andaluz and PRE.😊
There are some small differences, Lusitanos are slightly smaller, are less fiery, their manes are less dense, and the head shape is also a little different. Lusitanos tend to be more docile and better for children or amateur riders, as they are quite forgiving horses. I'm from Portugal, we can tell which ones are ours and which ones are Spanish hihi. Both amazing breeds, with very similar histories
Are you sure you're not in Heaven? Gorgeous Horses and perfect scenery.
I am 75 years old and have just returned from this fabulous equine escape for the second time. I am living my dream
beautiful, so many flowers...wasn't picturing Portugal like that.
I want to go there for a vacation. I need vacations like this. Thank you
As much as I love hearing about people’s stories, I would love even more hearing about the breed itself in more details.

I love that the horse are kept in such a natural environment.

So beautiful, I really hope you reach your dream!
You should go for it! It is never to late to start! And in my opinion we can only really regret the things we didn’t try!
We are working on a Mustang Sanctuary in the Chicago area!
@@equushorses AWESOME!!!

Literally living out a dream.
Love the doctor 's prescription!! ❤😂
I'm portuguese, so the vast majority of the horses I've ridden were Lusitanos, and I must say, they are trully special
Wow....paradise on earth.

I am curios if you have developed a feeling of which breeds you prefer to ride?

Just curious why did it seem all the foals and their mothers manes were roached? If someone could explain why they do that I’d appreciate it! ❤
Yes I wondered that
I dreamt to be a jockey to race on a racehorse, but I'm not that fitting.
