Friesians honestly have everything you could want in a horse: power, style and intelligence combined with a friendly personality and gentle manners. And they look absolutely gorgeous.
Amazing you were invited by Sabien, she is one of the jury at the Friesian inspections in Friesland. As moderator for Friesian Horses it's a delight to see you in Friesland where the Friesian originally coming from. I hope you had the most wonderful stay in our little country corner of the planet. Welcome to the Netherlands or Holland. 🇳🇱🌬️💞
Hé Linda - leuk jou ook hier te zien (niet verbazend natuurlijk☺). Ik heb erg genoten van deze video en vond het prachtig te zien hoe Alyssa werd 'ingepakt' door de prachtige Friese paarden! Kippenvel!!!
There was no leaking for me, I was crying watching this video. My little JackChi was worried something was wrong, but they were all tears of joy! Have loved this breed since seeing "Ladyhawke" years ago.
I absolutely love this breed. And as such am a follower of Yvonne and her Friesan Horses. Thank you for making this breed into one of your longer videos! :D 🥰
You had the privileged to see a few super stallions, because there are over all those years only a few more than 500 aprouved stallions. And the breeders are always looking for the best sire for their mares, to make their breed better and better. To buy a fillie from 2 yo and have a model, is a realy fairy tale, and one of a million.👍💞
i also fell in love with the friesian horse when i found the channel with Yvonne ! crazy how we can all come together! wishing you well from Rhodeisland
I bought a double registered Friesian for my wife a couple of monrths ago. She had two paint horses for 23 and 24 years respectively. They both passed away within 3 months of each other this year. Rockhart FOM was (is) an early Christmas gift to help her through the grief of losing her paints. He's a beautiful 16.3 gelding and he's already made a huge difference for her. The only unfortunate thing is that though he's won a number of shows and was the United States All Breeds Level 2 Dressage Champion in 2021, she's not a professional rider so he'll probably spend the rest of his days being a big pet and being ridden with a western saddle through the countryside. I love this breed. They're powerful yet gentle animals. I think she loves him more than she loves me, but that's ok. LOL
My Friesian girl is the sweetest and I'm so thankful for her. She's been my best friend for 14 years now. When I was able to buy her at 6 years old it was a lifelong dream come through. I am sooo lucky.
I'm Dutch and so proud of the frisian breed. They are willing, gentle, kind, great movers, smart, sensitive in a positive way and they are beautiful in every single way. An amazing video you have made of this breed. Thank you! ♡
I was lucky enough to ride a Freisian about 20 years ago in South Africa, in the flower fields near Cape Town. It was mind blowing. I totally fell in love with this horse -- so willing and so sweet and so gorgeous. I've been in love with the breed ever since. I was thrilled to see this video which showcased just how gorgeous they are. I also loved the carriage, like something out of a fairy tale! You put the horse together with the carriage and you have magic!
Wow, what a bunch of gorgeous horses in one video!!! Also, I totally appreciate how gentle you let the stallion chew out his bit at the end. To many people just let it fall and it hurts the horses teeth. The expression on your face through the entire video is priceless. 😊
Now I am not a horse person, I even fear them. Tried to get over that by riding myself. Not a succes. But I love learning new facts on animals and caring for them in the right way. I had no idea chewing out a bit was even an option. So thank you for this gem of information. This is just a piece of info you don't find in books.
@@ari-ettaOh thank you for your kind words, it is really sweet of you to say that! ❤ Some people don't realize that the bit, which obviously is made out of some kind of metal most of the times, can really hurt the horses front teeth from the back side when the rider does not let go of it slowly. It just slams against them chompers. Outch. And stallions and geldings also have some small pointy teeth directly below the bit, called stallion teeth (some call them canines, which is not exactly what they are biologically). Those are even more prone to get hurt by a bit that's falling out of the mouth without beeing slowed down by either the horse chewing it out or the rider holding it back/letting it come out slowly. I am glad you found that piece of information helpful or at least interesting. 😅
@@ari-ettaMaybe some day you'll find a way to overcome you fear of these gentle giants, fingers crossed for you! 🙏 Either way, there is a channel here on YT, by the name of "Friesian Horses", that is watched and enjoyed by lots of non-horsey people, lovely community from around the world, you might enjoy their content as well. 😊 All the best.
I've been in love with this breed since watching "Follow the Herd" on TH-cam. Your face reflected my love and awe and Joy of watching this beautiful horse breed. Thank you for this video, and yes, I'm sure you you probably both do have the same beautiful hair problems ❣️
Around 1980, when I was a young teen, my riding school in Holland took a bunch of us with ponies to a horse show for an exhibition. The ponies were stabled right next to about a dozen Friesians. It was my first encounter with the breed and I was enchanted by them and I have always remembered them. They were so huge and so nice to be around. Most of them were draft horses and they were even stockier than the handful of riding horses they had. At the time they explained that the slightly lighter horses were more comfortable to ride. Now, when I see Friesians they all look more like the "riding" horses I was introduced to. Loved your video
I used to ride a friesian gelding for a while and he absolutely sold me on the breed, obviously they're gorgeous but that was also one of the sweetest horses I've met, very eager to work and getting along with other horses and people easily
A friend of mine had a Friesian boy and I fell in love with the breed. Absolutely stunning, and such lovely personalities ... he would let himself into the kitchen and help himself to the bread-box.
Goedzo! I've been following the Friesian Horses TH-cam channel for a couple of years and have been mesmerized by these animals. I love seeing the pregnant mamas, the births, and the foals growing. And seeing members of the herd go from muddy field to show ring. Traveling to Friesland is definitely on my bucket list!
Yes I have met a Fresian. You are so right, they can connect with you on a soulful level. I met a 2-yr old colt and I named him "Frizz" eventhough I asked him his name - he transmitted "My name is Thor." When I met his handler 2 weeks after, his handler confirmed his name - "Thor." But he answers to "Frizz" when he sees our car pulling up - he runs to the front and waits for us. When we call "Frizz" he would follow. He is the ultimate love of my life. He comforted me when I lost my mom to COVID. Frizz nudged me a few times, and he clowned to make me smile. I miss him. He left to train for his dressage in the eastcoast.
I’ve never ridden one but I follow Friesian Horses on TH-cam and just love them. They are so majestic and well trained. I’ve heard they are very comfortable to ride. Congratulations on checking this dream goal off the list :)
Other characteristics are the high level knees in trott. And their long neck give easely problems with the vertical. Only with much training it comes well. And they are so sweet. Even children can ride them.👍💞
My daughter who was 11 at the time rode a Friesian stallion for her birthday! He was impeccable and sweet and definitely ignited her love of the breed!
I first saw a Friesian horse on Yvonne's channel a few months ago, it has been such a wonderful adventure to learn so much about this stunning breed. It's funny that you would say that about your hair and the Friesian horses. I was watching that scene at the end and thinking ...Wow they both have gorgeous hair!
I had such an amazing opportunity to ride two Friesians daily as an exercise rider the summer before my freshman year of college. Their canter would stop time. At the end of the summer, the owners took me to their annual trip to Acadia National Park with the horses and we rode and drove the historic carriage trails. We stayed for several days. It was magical and I'll never forget it (Unfortunately, I made the terrible mistake of asking for money the following summer, and that put a stop to that.) Friesians are amazing. I felt misty just watching this episode. I do hope to own one one day. Thank you.
I really love the Friesians specially the chestnut ones! You should go to USA or Canada, there is people trying to keep up with the chestnut gene within the breed. Only 14 left, such shame because they are beautifull like the jet black ones.
I’ve never ridden a Frisian but there were two at one of the barns my mom used to board her horse at. I always loved petting them. They were so huge and pretty! ❤️
Alyssa, you had such a great time driving and riding my favorite horse breed! You were practically glowing! You saw for yourself how versatile friendly and charismatic Friesians are. You looked wonderful on that stallion. Goed zo! Thank you to Stal Chandon and Stal de Mersken and Sabien for making this possible. I too follow Yvonne and her Follow the Herd channel. Be well, Yvonne.
In the mid 1990's, I was a member of the Seattle Knights. I took horseback riding lessons by way of them, and I had the pleasure and honor of getting to ride a couple Friesians on a regular basis, among a number of other breeds. Friesians are definitely my favorite! (Although I love them all!) They're just so beautiful! Their gaits are super smooth, and their personalities so sweet. I even got to ride a couple of them for a jousting workshop I participated in -- it was great! Bit of a challenge to photograph an all-black horse... I, too, am hooked on Yvonne's Frisian Follow the Herd TH-cam Channel, can't live without it. It's so relaxing. Oh, a Friesian Quadrille is an absolute must-see. There's one on TH-cam -- incredible! There you see 16 teams of two Friesians all pulling two-wheeled carts in complex formations. Check it out! Thank you so much for showing us a ride on a stunning stallion!
Everything about this video is perfect! You met some of the best friesians and studs but also to see what we friesian owners call the "friesian grin" was so heartwarming. They truly capture your hearts. Best breed in the world
Friesians from Friesland, NL. They are so sweet and cute and seem very curious and friendly to humans (even the little ones, the foals aren't too afraid). Like they can understand the love humans share with them and they also show that back in their own unique way! Lovely video! Thanks so much!
I used to teach lessons at a barn years ago with my personal Friesian and even though he was 17hh he had an absolute teddy bear personality and I very often used him to teach first time riders from little kids up to adults. He did however have a bad habit of unlocking all of the stall doors and letting the other horses out to pasture 🤣 For anyone wanting a horse I def recommend this breed but be on your toes, these guys are super smart and if they're bored they will find shenanigans to get into lmao
You are so right !! They are smart and can achieve what other horses have to do with power with their intelligence. btw, if you would like a corresponding dog with them..... Take Schnauzer. But be aware, they too are VERY KEEN AND INTELLIGENT. You will have to be three steps ahead otherwise they outsmart you. Advantage, you have a guard dog, clown and companion for your horse that looks almost the same when trotting around. A well groomed Schnauzer has also feathers on his legs and it looks almost as if you have a mini miniature of your horse around
@@irishcoffee6894 funny you brought up the schnauzer breed bc I've been planning on getting one for a number of years, but until recently work has prevented me from doing so. I've been looking at getting a giant schnauzer next spring. More as a personal protection animal and home pet as opposed to strictly a barn dog since my line of work deals in fugitive recovery.
@@Niko-td7ok friesians though large are generally a very kind and well mannered breed, they're eager to learn and pick up things quickly, they also have a knack for taking great care of their riders and are very forgiving. If you happen to come across a good ethical trainer who can help you on your journey then yes I definitely recommend this breed
@@Niko-td7ok as with all horses, you def. need a certain level in riding horses before even trying to ride a horse. But the Frisian horse is a forgiving kind of horse. So if you have a certain level of riding experience you could decide to buy a Frisian horse and continue to develop your riding skills. If your instructor is good (s)he can make sure your experience will rise TOGETHER with your horse. But honestly, would def go for a Frisian horse, but that is my favorite breed of horse, to ride under saddle or with a carriage.
I had a Frisian myself but had to sell it unfortunately. I know what you mean by saying falling in love with the breed, it happened to me 50 years ago. And still am
I was born and raised in Friesland, and always enjoyed cycling through the coutryside and seeing the Friesians in their pastures. I've also ridden some occasionally, a very interesting experience. I moved away from Friesland in my 20s and apart from occassional visits to my parents, I haven't spent much time there. I now don't even live in the Netherlands anymore, so seeing you in the Sjees riding through the Friesian countryside made me very very homesick for a couple of minutes. :)
I felt quite emotional seeing you so excited with this beautiful horse, may the journey continue, I have watched many of your video's and rate them high up on "TH-cam".
Wow what an awesome video... I absolutely adore the black Friesian horses. I'm yet to meet one in person but hopefully one day. I live at the very bottom of New Zealand in Invercargill, but I don't know of any breeders down our way. Black Friesians are strong, elegant, regal but also very well natured and friendly. What a fantastic experience you had meetings all those black beauties 🖤🖤🖤🖤 Bronwyn, 🇳🇿🇳🇿

If I would ever be able to buy and ride and take good care of a horse, it could only be a Friesian. I love these horses❣ Watch also "Friesian Horses - Follow the herd".
YES! I met a few of them, and even cross breeds, and they amaze me out of the breeds I've encountered in my life. I've never had the pleasure of riding or driving a Friesian. I dream of owning one someday. If God blesses me, maybe I'll breed Friesians. My favorite breed!
I once rode this awesome Friesian stallion and it felt like riding a Harley-Davidson! After my ride I poured an icy cold beer in my bucket for him and he lapped up.
Beautiful horses. The Friesian horse is friendly , Lively, tame, intelligent, faithful, studious, elegant, graceful and a willing worker! Greetings from the Netherlands 🙂🐴❤️🌷
We are lucky to have some gorgeous Friesians, some retired champion's, only few hours drive away from where I live in Poland. I don't care much for looks usually but these horses have the kind of firm, yet gentle character that captivated me in draft horses. Osada Karbowko is a lovely, quite posh agricultural/spa place that keeps Friesian for pleasure riding if anyone is looking for a place for family friendly horse holiday in central Europe. The terrains are gorgeous and the main trainer is very cool guy always happy to take more experienced riders for an amazing ride with these beauties.

Best breed in the world
Eise is realy flooting in his trott, amazing😘💞👍
I have two on my mail route here in Houston, Tx, they are both charming boys that do driving. They look very nice when showtime is happening.
What a beautiful tribute to the Friesians
Beautiful horses.
Wonderful and excellent video. Being from Friesland I really enjoyed it, thank you.
Friesians from Friesland, NL. They are so sweet and cute and seem very curious and friendly to humans (even the little ones, the foals aren't too afraid). Like they can understand the love humans share with them and they also show that back in their own unique way! Lovely video! Thanks so much!
Amazing horses so very beautiful 😍.
🥰🥰
My cousins owned Friesians, they competed in carriage driving etc. they were spectacular!,
I used to teach lessons at a barn years ago with my personal Friesian and even though he was 17hh he had an absolute teddy bear personality and I very often used him to teach first time riders from little kids up to adults. He did however have a bad habit of unlocking all of the stall doors and letting the other horses out to pasture 🤣
For anyone wanting a horse I def recommend this breed but be on your toes, these guys are super smart and if they're bored they will find shenanigans to get into lmao
Would this breed be good for a timid rider? Friesians are my favorite and would love to own one one day
@@Niko-td7ok friesians though large are generally a very kind and well mannered breed, they're eager to learn and pick up things quickly, they also have a knack for taking great care of their riders and are very forgiving.
The most beautiful horses in the world, so beautiful they bring tears to my eyes
Thank you for another beautiful video. I really enjoy your channel. Your hair matches with their manes!
Friesian Horses are my favorite breed 🐴❤!
They are Gentle Giants !
What a beautiful video 😍!
Thanks Birgit, so glad you enjoyed it!
Oh Alyssa!!! You lucky lady! I loved this episode of your Friesian ride. Super informative, too!
🥰 Thank you Kate!!
Exquisite animals! My favorite breed for sheer beauty and elegance. 💗
Gorgeous horse 🐴🐎🐴🐎
Thank you for sharing Alyssa.! I like your boots too.
GOEDZO! Braaf! They are poetry in motion, love seeing their frilly socks dancing on air! 😍
Martzen is such a stunning stallion.
Stunningly gorgeous breed of horse!
Hello how’re you doing?
I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos! Thanks for joining me on my adventure!
Hi, Bronwyn! Fancy meeting you here.... This is my first visit to this lady, 's channel... And when I saw Friesisns, of course had to dive in!
Beautiful Stallion!
Lisa 🇦🇺🐨
💙💪🎈
Be well Yvonne,!
@@lisajoyaslanis Hiya Lisa, my first time too, beautiful stallions... really enjoyed this video 🖤🖤 Bronwyn 🇳🇿🇳🇿
Wow a Truly Beutifull Horse,
Wonderful video!! We own several Friesians in the US and it is always magical.
What a Joy!!!
If I would ever be able to buy and ride and take good care of a horse, it could only be a Friesian. I love these horses❣
Watch also "Friesian Horses - Follow the herd".
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
They're beautiful horses, love their gait! When I see Friesians, I think of Dr. Pol, he raises them and I believe he is also from there.
Dr. Pol is from Drenthe but on the border with Friesland, so close enough :)
@@Weda01 Awesome!
My favorite horse breed! They are so beautiful :)
❤ really special to watch they’re truly beautiful
Hands down my very favorite! All horses are beautiful but there's something about the them that takes my breath away.
Loved it. Going to check her channel.
Hi there! Just about 2weeks ago I was lucky enough to see a Fresian in person!!! WOW I wanted to cry he was so beautiful! LOVE your videos and am completely in ENVY❣🐎🥰
I went to my first horse show in Madison, Wisconsin in the 90’s….
I saw Flurry a Friesian stallion prancing in a fenced in space. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. I will never forget that moment of discovering the Friesian!❤
Hi again
So after watching three of these wonderful productions I've decided you have the best assignment ever and you're having way too much fun! Lol lol An experience of a lifetime for sure...
These horses are soo regal looking and their movement is amazing. Again a fascinating history and how their studbook came about.
Thx again for another special treat. Can hardly wait til next time!
what a treat. And fun watching such beautiful, graceful and calm horses.
I was introduced to the Freesian horses, by Yvonne! Horses have always been my favorite animal, and now even more so than ever. It has been my dream to one day ride one, but I know that will never happen because I’m disabled and don’t have a clue as to where to go. Thank you for sharing this video. Fresian Horses are absolutely beautiful, sweet, loving, strong, sometimes mischievous, lol, & best of all so very majestic 🥰🦋💕🌹😇🙏♾💯! Maybe one day my dream will come true & God Bless you all 😇🙏
Thank you for your love and enthusiasm for the beautiful Friesian horses, I enjoyed your vid a lot... and I loved to see that carriage ride, such grace and class!!!
Have ridden two Fresian mares in my life - happy about that oportunity.
