I really love how subtitles say "Loki" only once Atreus does so that no one reads it before the reveal. A little nice touch, but so satisfying

the mistletoe caught me off guard too because I think that is what kills him in original telling, but they changed it for Kratos to do it.
@@davionbanks883 Loki gave a mistletoe spear to blind god and had him throw it at Baldur, killing him. So, in a way, Loki indirectly killed baldur just like here

@zeroshooter1 Naive? Its VERY naive to draw any other conclusion from that, not only the panel but the music and reaction to it makes it very clearly implied what its supposed to mean. God of War has matured, and now Kratos is a calmer and wise person, the new game deals with the sin he commited (killing the gods and his father), he regrets it and thus, became a fully developed character, if they want to continue this story Loki is the one to mature and take his place in the world, to become better. It is pretty fair to assume he will be the main character, or at least playable in the future

@@ArtthurMorgan He does actually! Loki finds how to break Baldur's curse and kills him *indirectly* by the hands of another god. Baldur's death causes bad winter, etc... And then we have a norse battle royale.
It's cool that it plays the same way out in game: Atreus is the one to break the curse, but Baldur dies by Kratos- another god.
Also, just like Marvel's Loki, they're both giants. Fun fact.

Not only did the giants refer to Atreus as Loki on the wall, they also called Kratos "Fárbauti". You can literally translate the runes on the wall and that's what they mean. It's crazy because in the norse myth, Fárbauti is Loki's father and his name literally means "fierce striker" which fits Kratos so fucking well...

Id never been so happy about not knowing anything about norse mythology, this part surprised me a lot lmao, worth it!
Not only that there was no stories of Loki in the game at all. But when Atreus asks if he can change into animals, I legit thought that he was gonna shapeshift into Loki. As in the Gods took Atreus and switched him with Loki. But when that didn’t happen I started to suspect that he was Loki even more lol
The second reaction was great, so emotional and full of life.
For fellow mythology buffs like myself, we achieved 100+ IQ points when we connected all signs of his identity earlier in the game. Good thing he didn't mention anything about a horse.

In Norse Mythology, Loki's father's name (Farbauti) could be translated to "Fierce Striker" which truly describes Kratos. Kratos is from sparta, but wherever you go, each country has a different way of saying and writing your name... in Mexico is Pedro, in England is Peter, in Russia is Pietrov, etc ... So in Nordic lands they could have called kratos "Fierce Striker" (Farbauti)

Me, I'm hoping they show that during the fight between the world serpent and thor where the world serpent was sent through time it was to the past
I remember one time throughout the game. The part when Mimir first communicated with the world serpent, he mentioned the world serpent said the boy looks familiar or something and to be honest, I found that mysterious.
He says as much but Mimir doesn't know why...or if he does, he didn't tell Kratos. As the game shows, Mimir knows how to keep a secret.

This is insanely important because Loki and his children all had a hand in Ragnorak and killing the Aesir gods. Jormangandur kills Thor and Fenrir kills Odin. Both children of Loki.
Not to mention that we never saw hel in helhiem. She was loki's daughter and queen of the dead. We should have seen her after killing the guardian, but we never do. She hasnt been born yet.

The setup for the upcoming sequel was just outright genius.
When Uberhaxornova got hit with the reveal I went “YOU JUST GOT LOKI’D” in chat, as a reference to what he used to say when he did a Minecraft survival series with his friend where they were Thor n Loki
Such an epic moment in the game and people who know norse mythology pretty good started to foresee this. There were so many clues. Him never missing with a bow (once he knew what he was), him asking if he can transform into animals, knowing the world serpent, his mother being a giant, his father being a god, his mother being Faye, plus he kills (or helps in killing) Baldur with mistletoe leading them into Thimblewinter.. so much more but they kept putting breadcrumbs all throughout the game.. then if you still didn't get it.. boom.

I kinda had my suspicions at first. I was waiting for "Loki" to be disguised as freya after she got yeeted out of alfheim. That and the fact many of the events loki is described as being a part off having already taken place really threw me off personally.
Can you imagine if Atreus chased a horse to the woods and f**ked her up and months later he returns with his 8 leg horse-son Sleipnir and gift it to Odin? XD

Since all the other mythology info in the game implied that Loki, just like the other Gods is already an established character, why would I think that the little boy, who's the son of a GREEK God turns out to be Loki, or his reincarnation or whatever. Also its not like God of War has ever kept faithful to mythology so why would I draw the parallel to Loki for killing Baldur. That's like saying "oh since Kratos killed him, that means Kratos must be Loki".
Had they revealed early on that his mother's name was Laufey, that'd be a different story.

Considering how many women Kratos had in Greece, If he hadn't wiped out the pantheon and turned the whole country into a chaotic wasteland he'd probably have a 100 bastard children. Though Aphrodite survived so if she got pregnant that child could come back in the future game.

That reveal is big. This sets Boy up as a possible playable character in the next game. Ragnarok is the end of the gods in myth and Loki was at its center. I would love a more magic themed character to compliment Kratos's brute force.

@zeroshooter1 or maybe not. It's obvious how hard has affected on this game Cory Barlog's experience as a father. Maybe thats what this is all about, about legacy, about passing the torch.
Its a dangerous choice to do in a saga as famous as GOW, specially now that Kratos is more likeable than ever. But who knows what Barlog has on its mind for the future of the saga.
And it’s gonna make some drama I guess. Which is why I looove this game and can’t wait for the next one

Marvel Loki is certainly different from Norse Loki, but the biggest similarity that people who only know Marvel should pick up on is the fact that Loki is a Giant.

Note that Kratos always said "I do not know" when asked a question he had no idea how to answer.
"A question for another day" He seems to hint he knows why she wanted to name him Loki. Barlog paid far too much attention to the little details for that not to imply Kratos knows more than he's letting on.
He used the same tone near the beginning of the game when Atreus asked why his mom told kratos to cut down the marked trees.

I saw the Loki reveal coming for one detail only. In Norse mythology, Baldur's death was caused by Loki playing a trick on him by getting his blind brother to throw a spear made of mistletoe at him. It is always, without fail, Loki who gets Baldur killed with mistletoe. The moment I saw Baldur's hand impaled on Atreus' mistletoe arrowhead, I knew.

I want to know how many people know Loki from actual Norse Mythology or from the Marvel Movies.
Also the game gives a lot of hints on him being Loki. I believe the one I could think of the best his well when he learns he is a god he asks if he could turn into anything which Loki can do.

Loki is basically the reason Ragnarok happens. It's Old Norse for the "twilight of the gods". Because of the original mythology, it's reasonable to assume that this will be Atreus'/Loki's role in God of War sequels. Loki's influence will bring the Norse pantheon to oblivion.
