    Seeing you pull off the latex from the brush was so satisfying...

    *UPDATE! girl_aglow on IG notified me of an indie brand, Cinema Swatch Lacquers and they have a similar bottled product for $3... It's called "That's a Wrap" and it consists of a latex derivative, aloe and a colorant. If $11 is too much for you and you're not allergic to latex, check that out as well :)*

    I buy the cheap sticker nail forms, for forming acrylic nails, on Ebay and wear them backwards. It is a faster and easier way to cover the cuticle, sides, and some finger. It works great for gradients and water marble and really polishing for beginners.

    this may sound strange, but I actually use eyelash glue around my nails! It works better than regular glue and I haven't been able to find liquid latex anywhere so it works pretty well for me. :)

    • @elleandish
      @elleandish  9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      tay tayyy good alternative! eyelash glue is normally latex based, so you're right in that it should work the same way

      I've just always used peel off base coat. I got it one year for Christmas and when I used it I just felt like I was wasting polish so I thought of putting it around my nails so it wouldn't stay on and I would have to use polish remover

    Oh my goodness. Amazing. I have to try this out. I love how resourceful you are Janelle. Why spend $22 on a tiny thing when I can get a "giant" tub in comparison for half the price? :) Thanks for this video! P.S. Any nail haul videos? I liked the last one. It helps me find new colors.

    I recently purchased the same body latex in purple from Amazon. I used it when polishing my toenails and it worked great. I'm glad to see someone else using this instead of the expensive small bottles of latex meant for using while polishing your nails. I got 8 oz for $12. A lot cheaper and will last a very long time.

  • @PixiePrincess501
    @PixiePrincess501 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Janelle, you're a genius! It does make life easier when cleaning the cuticle area after gradients! I might try this out, I'd love to do a water marble design, but don't want to make a mess, so this is great!

    • @elleandish
      @elleandish  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      PixiePrincess501 I should have added water marble as an example! Sigh. The next time I try it for a video I'll use it :) another nice thing about the giant 4oz tub is that we can be generous with application, especially for gradients and water marbling since we will be using a lot of latex :D thanks for watching!!

    This was so helpful, Janelle, thank you! I've been seeing Liquid Palisade all over the place lately on channels and blogs, and I really wanted to try it, but like you said- $22 for a little tube!? Heck no! Thank goodness we have you, Janelle- the nail artist/budget master/DIY queen! Haha! Do you think this would be available at Michael's? Also, if you didn't mind a small gap by the cuticle you could probably use the liquid latex and a really tiny paintbrush to apply some by the cuticle to avoid cuticle pooling. Thanks so much Janelle! :)

      Rainbow Loominescence I tried doing a teeeensy little curved latex line onto the nail but the result was a little more wavy than I had hoped, haha! But perhaps if I practice I'll get better at making that line a little smoother! Thank you for watching as always :)

    hey Janlle! I really hate the pulling at the cuticles, especially with sponge gradients. I usually use the OPI peel off base coat around my cuticles. it does take a long time to dry, but I take my time anyway so it doesn't become an issue for me. the other day I was doing a basic ombrè and discovered something. instead of keeping the base coat just on my skin, I (accidentally) put it on my nail. i put it around keeping the shape of my nail, and only putting it so far on my nail that i would leave space when painting my nails anyway. it was surprisingly easy and to my delight, I finally had a clean sponge gradient with no pulling! I bet this would be even easier with a thin brush like the one in liquid palisade, or just a plain thin paint brush. just thought i'd let you know, maybe that'd help you out! love your videos, erin (:

    I appreciate this sooooo much! The liquid palisade is much too expensive for me though I'm intrigued by it! lol I did some research of my own and I too discovered it's simply liquid latex. I've even looked watched recipe vids for making your own liquid latex. THANK YOU for posting a product, a VERY LARGE container at that, with a reasonable price. You're the bomb!

    i like that you compared this to elmer's glue! haha it was kind of a 'mindblown' moment to use glue outside of the nail for clean up instead of just as a peel off base coat. My only problem with elmer's glue is that it doesn't always come off in one easy piece, the latex looks so simple to use! I definitely want to give this a try :)

  • @blissgirl9052
    @blissgirl9052 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow! I've never seen latex used like that! What an awesome idea! I hate pooling at my cuticle but I have tiny nail bed and tiny fingers so it seems like its impossible to not have that happen. I do use a flat edged brush with nail polish remove though which seems to help. I'll have to try this!

    22 is too much - and i liked that you gave us an alternative. But if would try it i would use it only for watermarble, also for loose glitter would be a good suggestion - other than that it would not be necesary because i barely get to my skin while painting . And i dont like that peel off near the cuticle neither :p haha ..even if i try it i will be using the remover becasue Im very picky i like a clean and perfect finish xD - thank you so much for this demo .. Love you ♡♡♡

      katys2105j haha yes I think I'll just be using it for really messy cleanup like sponging and watermarbling.. I'm all for working on my painting skills on both hands ;)
