Keine Namen the 575bhp Supercharged V8 RR Sport SVR is a “soccer mom SUV”? I don’t think so buddy. Sure they make some cars that appeal to buyers doing the school run but that is what allows them to achieve the money to create monsters like the SVR and this defender. Car manufacturers cater for the mass market not the very small segment of car enthusiasts that don’t even have the money to put down a deposit.
Go look at the new Grenadier. I will restore your faith in the world.

Let’s admit it, this is probably the coolest car somebody who loves cars Can buy, at least us who loves defenders... and that Classic look of the old defender is just gorgeous that’s a face, it’s probably top 3 or 5 best looking cars ever made

Awesome machine even though limited run. Drove a original civilian LR V8 110 In Early 1980S. British Army had it on trail at Hereford, but the regiment preferred the Gucci Range Rovers. So we had it for a couple of weeks, a battleship grey V8 with black vinyl seats.. It was really unstable and a beast! No idea what happened to it. But could be hidden in some storage depot somewhere, rusting away.

This is the defender we needed, not the new discovery 4 in disguise with a range rover chassis. Just needed to improve the sound insulation and the integrity of the bodywork and many other bits to make it safer and refined. Like the Gwagen.
It might be noisy but the engine sound so nice...well 4 me that is
when you've bought a landrover defender the ONLY REAL TOOL is YOU.

I think someone with more appreciation for Land Rovers ideas with this one would have made more sense.
Forget the jibes at the presenter, it's that NA V8 which I have in my Dicovery 4 before they chucked in that V6 supercharged. Naturally aspirated V8 in a Landrover was the best decision.

Not the best Defender ever but the best offroad too. Even it's style inspired the Mercedes, Tata & Iveco ,all of them copied & learnt with the Defender
I love this presenter, I think he is hilarious.
They should bring it back as a hybrid. There are people who would love to have this sort of vehicle again as it's a halfway house between an estate family car and a van for work like landscape gardening.

70 year old design? Honestly what a pile of crap... You're referring to the series 1 which couldn't be more different. That's like comparing a smart car to an F40.

yup, the Defender was introduced in 1983. It wasn't a new design though, rather a much improved version of the Series III from 1971.
dcanmore the 110 was introduced in ‘83. The Defender name wasn’t used until 1990
yes, correct, the name change was brought in to distinguish it from the new Discovery.

All of the braking and suspension upgrades and they stick off road tyres.
I wish they had stuck Tokyo S/T tyres on 18-inch rims with a return to centre steering damper if it is not included.
I do not have the V8 but that is what my fast-road D90 has underneath.

land rover made a huge mistake when they stopped production of the defender. jeep still make the wrangler, Mercedes the G wagon, and they sell.

I had hoped to get some quality review of this amazing 4WD. All he talks about is the noise... and the style. Not one word about what this car is designed for: adventure and off roading. I can't imagine a worse review. Clearly this man has zero knowledge about this car.
