As far as I could tell in the original comparison, the real drums were way louder and better mixed. The real drums are of course way better and the guy you hired did a great job. Programmed drums do have a legitimate place for both writing and recording, but for this style of song, I definitely think the real drums elevate it.
1000% better with a real drummer, always go real drummer. Only thing that bothers me is how much cymbals he's playing, it's way too much, overpowering the melody, which is a very nice one. My teacher called this being a "chancho" drummer, like dirtying the song.
I agree - real drums are so much better lol. I will say that I am the one to blame for the intense cymbal use because I specifically asked for it lol but I totally take your point and thank you for the compliment on the melody!
