The 3 in 1s would be fine to collect, I’m just not a huge fan of the solid color backgrounds on the covers. The single volumes just have a clean look to them that really captures Kubo’s style… I wish the English release had kept the same covers as Japan with the slick typography, but I guess they were localized during a different time or whatever

I just finished collecting the 3-in-1 omnibus' and it was 100% worth it after multiple years. Just a fair warning for anyone going this route though - there are pretty much no reprints happening anytime soon, and out of print 3-in-1s are going for almost triple the price. So I would recommend people buy the box sets or individuals cause the paper quality is crappy in the 3-in-1s but you definitely get to read the story much quicker.

Thank you for this. I planned on getting the 3in1s because they're so much cheaper, but now that I know the paper is low quality I'd rather spend more to get good paper.
Got the 3-1's due to cost, and because I'd be swapping volumes less often, being able to get cozy reading 3 volumes rather than reading 1 then swapping felt better for me. However, the thin paper does give it a cheap feeling but I do appreciate the extra shelf space.

But WE MADE IT!!!!!!!!! and we on episode 2 for TYBW, Im still confused on wether or not Kubo is dropping more chapters for NBFH but we'll see. Great video!
Great and very timely video!! I remember my 3-in-1s on the soul society arc were sooo horrible with the backpage bleeding that it was really borderline unreadable at one point.... wish they would have made it a bit better otherwise they are a very good deal on such a lengthy manga run.
Was wondering when this video would crop up! Bleach. Alongside Naruto and (to a MUCH less widely loved Manga) GetBackers is why Manga became one of my favorite things to collect and enjoy. I always loved anime since it first crept up on U.S. television, and while my first Manga Volumes ever was a Gundam Wing volume (read left to right), were also two Cowboy Bebop Manga Volumes...it was GetBackers and then Bleach & Naruto that made me fully appreciate and love the Manga medium! I recently returned to collecting Manga after a VERY long hiatus & absence from Manga. So the very first thing I did was to finish up collecting Bleach! I wish I had gotten the Box Sets 1 & 2 but way back when I first started collecting, they weren't a thing. So I finished up the singles from Volumes 35-48 and got Box Set 3. While the single covers are pretty minimalistic and pretty standard of a single character's portrait/pose, something about the colors and framing of them I absolutely love. There aren't any crazy stylish covers like most Manga Volumes have, but something about it just works for me. So I think personally it's great to have each cover art in full display VS the 3-in-1s that While showing the other covers on the backsides, it doesn't do em enough justice I personally say that if a Manga series has a Box Set, go for those above & beyond. They're often a fantastic price, some neat extras, display well, easy to move around AND save space if you keep in the display Box. And if you so choose, easy to take em out and put the individual volumes on a shelf.
@@I.K.2013 Totally! It has Berserk air but with samurais, and the art is gorgeous, honestly I was hooked just by reading the premise, the American edition is published in a Kanzenban size which is nice too(just the size, but is a regular volume)
This was great! I have a hand full of the singles before trying to collect the 3-in-1s for all the reason you mentioned! I am running into the problem that some seem to be OOS or even OOP so the last 3 volumes I need to complete the series are proving tricky to get my hands on 😓

@Advanced Visual personally, the paper quality is thinner than the single. But, it not terribly. I really like these mainly because it easier to manage than single in my opinion. Just a head up I finally started collecting the bleach 3in1. I wonder what should I collect next, naruto 3in1 or one piece omnibus?

Thanks for the super clear review! I'd love to get the box set one day. I have a RAW 3-in-1 from a different manga series, which I'm not a fan of. It's rather awkward to read. However, it's got thick pages, perhaps the Japanese only print on thicker paper? I've seen this with American books, too. Their pages are thinner than the ones in West European books. So, definitely the box set for me.

A lot of those posters and color pages made their way into the anime. That one poster of Orihime was in opening 4, I believe.

The 3-1s are still very good. Especially the fact it has different characters on the spines.

Did you know the 20th anniversary cover art is from the single Vol. 4 back cover. Wish they made it a hardcover with extra art or color.
Do they have larger format prints? I like the series, but the books feel so small to me, they're hard to read.
