Loved the trick of using a heat gun to restore the finish on the indicator switch. Ingenious. The unused terminal on the headlamp/horn switch is for the earlier twin horn set up. It allowed for a loud horn for 'rural' and a quieter one for 'town' use. The switch had two positions. Soft push for town and hard push for country. The switch was first used on the Traction Avant from about 1938 onwards and never really updated, hence the old type fittings.

Now I've been wondering where the horn is.. I may have investigate the wiring again! Thanks!

@@philwesty21 The car never had the feature fitted, it was something deleted in the 1960s. The arm was changed (so doesn't have the two positions) but the main body of the switch was never altered.

Great video 😎... regarding the headlight dim/dip/horn switchgear that terminal that's unused on yours is actually absent on later years (mine's an 88/89 model year and it's just a blank hole) ... makes it easier than pondering what an unused connector goes to 🤪

At approx 8:30 you can see light between the engine and the bell housing. Is this normal? This joint is usually face to face but this is Citroen so who knows. It would let clutch dust out be also let dirt and water in!
Good work being done here and nicely paced for the viewer.
Could you leave the sub title comments up for a bit longer please. Thanks.

Well, there's still the undertray to fit, so that stops some of the water getting in..?!

Yep, that's normal, 4 bolts hold the bell housing and engine together, the flywheel is relatively open, they don't actually take on much dirt/ grime and in fact are often cleaner than some "enclosed" systems I've worked on. If you're doubting the logic just bear in mind these cars have operated successfully for 60 years or so in desert terrain and they are fantastically reliable outfits offroad, they also ford water well except for breaking fanblades 😎👍
