Actually the Regional Center programme you’re speaking is a lot slower than the Direct Investment. This is because the government aims to pool in financial resources from a lot of investors before they begin a project.
Let’s say they want to build a Dam and it would cost 100 million USD, so 500,000 per investor in this government backed project will not even commence unless they have 100 million dollars in fund requirements. There would be many such investors and each may come at their own time. What is guaranteed in all of this is that the investor will get their money back at the end of the project and also a green card to the US. However, they are going to end up waiting for a basic processing to take place which right now is like 36-50 months and then maybe a 2-year conditional green card is given and then a year after that have to reapply to remove those conditions which takes another 2 years.
So there’s no silver lining in any of this.

That is not true.
By the time reserve visa application is processed & approved, it will already be retro. I guarantee you their is no faster processing if you have not done so in last year. Processing for 526 will not start for another 3-4 years. So currently you are looking for at least 10 years before you get full green card.
