The Clarks Wallabee is an iconic style. Like the Clarks Desert Boot, it's a very simple construction---and in this case, comfortable, too.
This is as close to a slipper as a boot can get, and with fall here, I couldn't pass up the burnt orange suede look. I believe on Clark's sight, they're calling the color I have the Tan Hairy Suede. But it's definitely a burnt orange color.
If you've never bought a pair of suede boots or shoes before, don't fear. Just use a suede brush to keep these looking fresh and clean year round.
    This Clarks Wallabees review covers:
    -Style
    -Leather Quality
    -Sole Quality
    -Fit and Sizing
    -Break in period

I think of the Wallabees as the "anti-shoe". Someone once described them as footwear for people who do not want to wear shoes and I think that's accurate, almost like uggs. Also Walter White etc...

Resole America can resole wallabies for $70 with the same crepe sole from Clark’s. Just a heads up in case that’s a deal breaker for anyone looking to get one. I believe other similar companies could even switch the sole out to vibram or something similar

William, this is the first time I saw this video... Been wearing Clarks Wallabees and Weavers for years... Back when I was younger this was the original truly casual bum around shoe.... I have a pair of Weaver boots and just ordered a low cut pair of Weavers from Ruze (at half price!! On sale right now) and I have two pair of Wallabees, the low cuts in brown beeswax and the iconic light tan suede... These things look great with a pair of khakis or jeans and give the true meaning of casual comfort... ! Glad I saw this one today buddy... Love your videos... Greg

I bought a pair of Navy Blue leather, with a different rubber sole. Ideal travel boots, acceptable for the occasional professional gig. They have true moccasin, wrap around the bottom of the ball of your foot comfort. No break in means comfort from the get go. And light! The newer sole may not be quite as cushy, but also isn't a dirt magnet. Recommended!

I have a pair of suede green original desert shoes from Clark’s, and a pair of suede oakland, plus a pair of atticus boots.
The suede on the originals range seems better, yet the Oakland has a rubber base which is really comfortable and harder wearing. I think if Clark’s put the rubber base from their Oakland range yet had the originals quality of leather/suede, they would make a better boot. But I think the crepe sole is simply iconic for Clark’s, so I see why they leave them as they are. My crepe soles are mainly used within my studio work shoes (I cycle to work and leave them at work), and are silver underneath now due to the flooring, which strangely compliments the green suede!
I really like Clark’s shoes, they really suffered during the late 80’s and 90’s in the U.K., but they stuck by their guns and seem to have had a Renaissance in the last 15 years. They seem to offer a classic style that hasn’t changed much over the years, where other companies seem to be producing really unsightly/bulky or ‘tuck and chuck’ unrefined products or have knocked the quality down whilst retaining price.
That said, I have bought some pretty ugly products from Clark’s, and counter to what you say, if you check reviews everywhere, a lot of people (including myself) have a horrible break-period with Clark’s shoes (I had less of a break-in period with my red wing iron rangers!). I have owned countless pair of shoes from Clark’s, and they all have a horrendous heel pinch pain that you have to endure, the pain is worth it though, for the price and longevity of the shoes I’ve owned, they’ve outlasted other shoes in the price range.

    • @tplambert
      @tplambert 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Also to add, in the U.K. there are a lot better quality shoe companies, but I think Clark’s have nailed a good quality styles of each boot/shoe for the mass market. I wish they offered desert boots/shoes that could be resoled however.

I would recommend footskins over these.
Especially the walking boots which are a 6" boot similar to these but better, they're handmade in Minnesota of American materials, have a stitched on rubber sole sole that can be resoled , a true proper Moccasin construction, a reinforced heel, and brass eyelets.
With the traditional Moccasin style " canoe sole " they're $187, with the cushy heeled boot outsoles they're $198 for the cowhide and about $50 more if you want deerskin.
The lace up chukka with stitched on wrap around rubber outsoles ( look too much like a house slipper ) is $170, if you want the heeled boot outsole like the walking boots they have their buckle up chukka for just under $200.
They discontinued the lace up chukka with boot outsole , but have some size 10 on clearance.
They basically took the same idea as the Clark's wallabee, and made them better.
They combined some elemets of boot construction with traditional Moccasin construction to make something as comfortable as a house slipper but a little more functional, and did it at a very reasonable price.
If Footskins can make these by hand in Minnesota for what they charge, theres no reason for Clark's to charge what they do for stuff that's made in a 3rd world country.
