Yes! I've been waiting for this review, and you did not disappoint. Excellent review with lots of great info. I wanted this sword before. But now I must have it. Strong work homie 🤘🏼

Great review Andy 🤘💀 definitely a must have! When people talk sh!t about windlass and Coldsteel I say "yeah maybe they're not great but at least they make a X or Y sword nobody else makes a decent one for decent price." But now that lkchen entered the lobby... that defense holds less and less water. Lkchen has raised the bar for the whole budget sword market. Now everyone else has to play catch up.
The quality to price equation is second to none right now. If money was no object I would buy one of everything.

One of the best reproduction swords LK Chen has made, and that's quite a high bar!

Fun to see them doing something like this now!
Also, this video is amazing, thank you for such quality content.

To thrust effectively with a curved blade you either have to thrust from a backhand position or you have to perform a whip thrust which takes a bit of acclimating to, especially if you aren't familiar with cutting with a pioro or false edge. Unless it has changed I believe that the cold steel shamshir and the windlass shamshir use exactly the same blade, though that was many years ago at this point. A lovely looking reproduction, seems to function well, even if the technique being used is...interesting, to say the least.
    Thanks for the thoughtful video.

Great review. The excellent cutting ability I was expecting, but that thrust was eye opening!

Well done. As far as I know there are indeed many ways to grip the qabze (grip) if the shamshir. Including thumb up the back, handshake & hammer fist. RazmafzarTV has some shorts on this if I am not mistaken.

From wikipedia: "...word shamshīr, which is made of two words sham ("fang") and shir ("lion")." Pretty cool name.

It's wrong shamshir means a lion's tail.. it has nothing to do with curvature. It's been used for 2000 years for straight swords.. it's a play on Persian mythology and culture. The lion's tail is dangerous, when you see it you should have fear for your life. To grab it would be deadly.. the sword is like the tail of the lion.. it's dangerous. It's nothing to do with the weapons shape. It's just a play on the inherent danger of both lions tails and swords..

LK Chen really do produce awesome swords, at a reasonable prize point! ☺️👍🏻
I’ve personally suggested to them that they look into making an authentic Ottoman kılıç.
I am very much looking forward to Your review of the kılıç from Peserey Handicrafts! 🤓⚔️

I am not looking to like these type of swords and expand my interest (and financial burden 😉)... but it does look quite well done (including the clever scabbard). This and the Mongolian Saber are beautiful examples of their type. Since in my eyes, the strong curvature of the blade makes the archetypical Shamshir, I would want a good blade above all. Fortunately, LK Chen is known for making good blades. 😄If I would want to get a Shamshir, this would be it.
