Oh so many Gems in this one!!! I noticed my hives in the middle of swarm requeen are so irritating. The price of honey on the paper! I like to write directions to the hive entrances when I change something so they can read like road signs lol 😂

I think your videos are excellent.. I took a year mentorship, and they taught us this method... Not everyone can do a mentorship, so your videos are very helpful for beginners/ hobbyists...

Silly question, if your nuc was already used to where their home/hive was does the move to top of the new hive confust them?

With newspaper being harder to find can I use parchment paper instead?
Dollar tree has cheap parchment paper we have used in a pinch

Moved large swam to new location (too close and opened too soon) but only half reoriented others went back to swarm area and on trap I opened and put one frame of comb in and will try to shake back in hive tomorrow. What a mess I have

Where can i get the newspaper.
If you don't know where to find free newspaper, don't forget at many public places like grocery stores or gas stations they have free newspapers. Or, gah!, you might have to pay a quarter or two!

I recently decided to try to work my hives without gloves.
I spray my hands with white vinegar that has been infused with smoke by cleaning my smoker with it.
I have noticed that not only do my bees leave my hands alone, they seem calmer.
Normally when I go back to my truck after working my hives I always have a bee or more follow me flying at my veil. I usually wind up with one or two in the cab of my truck with me. Not so with this spray on my hands. The bees don't even follow me.

When I run out I get more of these patties from Hill Co.
What happens when it rains, especially a gully washer? Doesn't water pool on top with that rim?
It does but most of the time I have a frame feeder inside and the telescoping cover on.
Hi Kamon & fellow beekeepers. I dont have bottomless hive boxes, and would like to merge weak nuc hives (2/3 frames) with stronger colonies in a brood box (5/6 frames). Im told that I can merge the nuc colony with the colony in a brood hive by forcing them together - insert the frames & bees from the nuc into the brood box colony directly (interspersing the frames from the two boxes). any suggestions or advised methods would be welcome. #beekeeping on a budget

Hello Kamon I have just done the same thing with two of my colonies. Kamon here is something you were talking about in one of your last live videos. I went to a big flea market yesterday in my local towns . There was someone with honey for sale an in the LABEL it plainly said with “ CORN SYRUP “ . This one pound jar was $15.00 . WOW WOW WOW Here is the funny honey . I think I may go back next Tuesday an get a jar . Thanks

So would you just leave them like that for a period of time and then eventually remove it?

Hey Kamon, I have a hive that I'm having trouble with them raising a Queen. When paper combining a hive, does the Queen-right colony have to go on the top or can the Queen-less colony go on top? Thank you for any help. 1st year beekeeper.

I wish i seen this video 2 days earlier! what i did i put a 5 frames queenright hive under another hive which been queenless for over 6 weeks full of 8 frame bees and they started fighting since morning got quiet after that and now they fight really hard i hear a lot of fights going on inside, they got through the newspaper in less than 12 hours, I don't think the queen still alive very sad i wish i never did it
I found out theres laying bee worker in queenless hive and after inspection on 4th day i found the queen in rightqueen hive been attacked by the workers i got them away from her and she immediately left away flying its my first year and i've learned
Would you still use this newspaper combine method if you have a very weak hive with a laying queen in the bottom box (say 1 or 2 frames of bees) and a pretty strong hopelessly queenless hive in the top? Nothing at all wrong with the queen in the bottom just not enough bees to cover brood and build up.
I would probably put the queen in a cage for that one for more time and extra insurance

Hi Kamon, on a different topic, I have a 5 frame nuc that I didn’t sell so I transferred into a 10 frame deep,1 week ago, now I have a buyer for nuc.
Will it be advisable to put it back into a nuc box for buyer?
If you want to sell it absolutely. Now you can pull out the perfect nuc
