Plus I really love the combat system and having a monster (golem) in my squad whenever I got one.
Had this on 360 back in the day I was 12 I think? (26 now) and the amount of hours I sunk into this game was unbelievable, I was seriously addicted to it, something about owning overpowered golems and collecting them all, did several playthroughs aswell, I loved the all of the shrines, first time I fought one of the shrine guardians I found it by mistake and got destroyed, and eventually went on to go grab omega, the only golem you’d ever need, and I’ve recently learnt it’s backwards compatible on Xbox one...may just have buy one... thanks for the trip down memory lane

One of the most interesting details is the 999 level cap but you don't really need it. I've never gotten 999 level but it's a nice thought for a detail you dont need really. One of my favorites The only location I can think of that the 999 would be handy is the shrine which is post game material. That's about it imo. Have fun if you do
Glad you brought some truth to my first RPG/Childhood Game, I will miss this game dearly, if a Enchanted Arms 2 Ever Shows (Most Unlikely) I'll be looking forward to it. I remember playing this on the xbox 360 though, Never got that character though, but I did make my characters op as hell, Rip that this brought so many flashbacks to when I played it, yet I'm glad ye didn't take a crap on it like others have done so.
I remember buying this at gamestop and only later finding out that it was a From game. Lol. By the way, the Queen of Ice is still one of my favorite designs and i ended up really liking Makoto, especially on why he acts like that in the game. I recently replayed it and i forgot how much of a banger his theme is. Galaxy Spear!!!
This game was a hidden gem of my childhood. Not the greatest JRPG of all time but it has a charm to it that hasn't been replicated since. It was a very linear story but that doesn't make it a bad game, it was still interesting to learn about the world and characters. The grid system allows the combat to have great depth and strategy, but it can be frustrating. It was a good type of frustrating for me because I always was trying to one shot all the enemies so I didn't lose any VP. Overall, the game was very good, although I understand the negative attitude toward it. The encounter rate can be overwhelming if you are a new player and don't know how to properly eliminate enemies, and this can drain your VP very fast. The game also doesn't do a very good job of explaining the level up system along with the SP usage, upgrading skills and support skills. New players can easily miss upgrading parameters and skills, specifically support skills, for a very long time and this can make the battles a lot harder than they should be. Traveling takes a VERY long time and is very slow. For players that aren't completionist, it can be very easy to walk past a hallway and miss a chest with a key or an Ether. The slow traveling speed combined with the frequent encounter rate can make the game very frustrating because players often don't have enough VP to backtrack and wander around. You either love or hate the characters. I personally loved the character interactions and thought the characters were pretty funny, although not really compelling. The english voice acting was bad, but a funny/goofy type of bad. The Japanese voice acting was actually very good. The animation was pretty good given the time of its creation, which it's release was in 2006, so given some time the development would've been in the early 2000's. Enchanted Arms is not a game for everybody, but it's still a great game. Nothing else quite has the same type of charm this game has.
It was the second english game I played. The first one was pokemon silver wayyyyy back when I had english in school for only a year. But enchanted arms was the first game I was able to play without any trouble. I still like the gameplay and while it was never an AAA title, it holds a special place in my heart.

Also after first playing on the 360 then the ps3 the death of toya was a backstab similar to how ghost and roach went down :'(. Also that ending song gets me everytime.
@@NinjaSushi2 yes. I'm guessing the game released on the playstation first so they had plans for a second in the series. So they needed toya to act as a magicore. But then after the poor sales they rushed the story with the ice queen and infinity. I think.

I bought this game in 2007 from a blockbuster for 5$ cause everyone who bought it kept returning it. Totally fell in love with the game, and I still play it at least once a year to this day. Not sure what it is about the game that makes me love it so much, but it has real heart, and a lot of charm
Growing up I loved everything in this game the dub was absolutely great for me it was funny and goofy lighthearted imo I enjoyed it watching this made me buy the game just to play again
I played this game, got stuck at the rock boss if I remember correctly? I even cheesed the casino and tried for hours but couldn't beat it. I literally had nightmares where I was stuck moving in the battles grid pattern and even had similar issues while awake. So I never finished it...
Maybe it's because it arrived at a time when JRPGs were woeful, but I enjoyed this game. It was cheesy as fuck and felt like somebody had ripped off Final Fantasy and added voice overs from a 90s cartoon. It was by no means great, but unlike The Last Remnant and a couple of other JRPGs that came out around the same time, it at least had character.
Remember when ma and dad got a ps3 at launch came with the first Motorstorm and this. Played till like half 1 the following morning school night and everything. Mega nostalgia watching this I feel a trip to the loft to get the old girl out of mothballs coming on.
It's a very comfy game to me. Nothing amazing but the dogshit VA, monster collection and some fairly interesting gameplay ideas made it a fun experience for me
the casino is a bonus not a take away if you really do want to grind SP like that it dosnt take much ingame time off how long i ttakes for latergame stuff tbh can just use the casino as a more mindless way to grind for max level shit
I really enjoyed playing Enchanted Arms at the launch of the 360. Was nice to have some sort of jrpg right from the get go. I love most of from softwares stuff. Really liked their Ever Grace and Ace Combat games. On a side note I remember the ps3 version being a pretty shoddy port of the 360 with worse graphics and some oddities.
Any idea why the PS3 European region 2 version says Special edition on the back and the USA doesn't!!! Anyone know if there is any difference or added content in the European version?
I just beat this game tonight. Never heard of it before this year. What a goofy, fun experience! The ridiculous voice acting and weird writing really sold this offbeat title for me. This was such an accurate review to my experience with it! Nice to hear some praise as the game fared poorly back in the day
So it's real! I remember was a very young teen I watched a video game channel called G4 and one of the shows, X-play talked about this. They bashed the game hard and I hate I forgot what they scored it as, I know it was low, but during the whole review just said bad jokes about the game and gave it a low score. I wanted to see it for myself by buying it myself, but my area didn't have the game so I never played it. Still I am glad I found the game after so long, and I have your video to thank for that man! edit: Turns out the x-play review is on youtube. And it's so bad! I never used this word before, but the whole x-play review was cringe. But they gave it 4 out of 5 first time around? And they reviewed it again, kept talking about Makoto's character, and that the game sucked with a low effort way with out explaining anything, and gave it a 2 out of 5. wth did I just see with my own eyes I swear.
i did not play much of it but it seem ok. i do like alot of from soft games such as frame gride, kings field and echo night. i did like the style of the game but it seem very slow. also the voice of that one guy was done by liam o'brian who is a great voice actor but yeah that shit was funny
Got any other awesome game recommendations similar to Enchanted Arms? For the Xbox 360 that is? I love final fantasy type games like this Enchanted arms.
Resonance of fate is a great game but the combat takes a while to get used to. But for a FF style RPG I would go for Blue Dragon, it was made by ex square Devs
Scott's Game Asylum does resonance of fate have the same kind of combat style as the Dirge of Cerberus game with Vincent Valentine in it? If so I dominated that game.
I still remember my best friend grabbing this game from a Blockbuster when we were in highschool. He pops it in and starts playing it. I'm doing homework. I suddenly stop when the phrase "devil Golems" is said; we both laugh and start playing the game together. Nuff said; this game is garbage but actually really fun, but ya gotta remember "PRESS A" to do any cool action in the open world.
This was my first jrpg game and i gotta admit i had fun save for the random encounters that kinda ruined the fun, it was one of my first games on ps3 as well. i shit myself when the game ended killing toya but then i found out there was a secret ending lol
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I've just come here to get to know if I'm going to like the game and when I made a decision that I want to give it a try, I spotted your comment xD You don't even know how I was pissed, but I'm not going to read it all. Give it a go and enjoy!
Will do ;).
The best character by far is Makoto
absolutely. Its weird cause im not down for "queens" whether its male or female but damn Makoto before and after is still the best.
both you and i may have high tolerances to turds as i actually like some things people consider crap
While i wouldn't call Enchanted Arms a bad game. I do like playing these B-grade games as you never know what you let yourself into.
I played this game, got stuck at the rock boss if I remember correctly? I even cheesed the casino and tried for hours but couldn't beat it. I literally had nightmares where I was stuck moving in the battles grid pattern and even had similar issues while awake. So I never finished it...
I had no idea they made Enchanted Arms :D This game may have a lot of weird shit but its certainly not boring xD
Thank you for enduring this so I don't have to...
It looks pretty good I seen it at the retro store 😊 I want it :) I love nice arms lol 😂😅😊
💪
Maybe it's because it arrived at a time when JRPGs were woeful, but I enjoyed this game. It was cheesy as fuck and felt like somebody had ripped off Final Fantasy and added voice overs from a 90s cartoon.
It was by no means great, but unlike The Last Remnant and a couple of other JRPGs that came out around the same time, it at least had character.
I agree
Remember when ma and dad got a ps3 at launch came with the first Motorstorm and this. Played till like half 1 the following morning school night and everything. Mega nostalgia watching this I feel a trip to the loft to get the old girl out of mothballs coming on.
Loved this game
It's a very comfy game to me. Nothing amazing but the dogshit VA, monster collection and some fairly interesting gameplay ideas made it a fun experience for me
the casino is a bonus not a take away if you really do want to grind SP like that it dosnt take much ingame time off how long i ttakes for latergame stuff tbh
can just use the casino as a more mindless way to grind for max level shit
I really enjoyed playing Enchanted Arms at the launch of the 360. Was nice to have some sort of jrpg right from the get go. I love most of from softwares stuff. Really liked their Ever Grace and Ace Combat games.
On a side note I remember the ps3 version being a pretty shoddy port of the 360 with worse graphics and some oddities.
It played fine to me. Yeah there where a few frame dips while exploring but nothing game breaking.
Interesting game, good video, great job!
Thank you
only the pinkest of pickles
Me, a Dark Souls veteran looking at this:
Huh, no wonder I liked this game so much.
It definitely has that From Soft quirkiness to it
Enchanted arms in a way was my final Fantasy before final fantasy 😭
you can also get raiko from the otogi series by fromsoft as a golem in this game too :)
Whaaaat! Holy shit that is so cool!
it has nothing of convencional, it is awesome, and the voice acting, was very good to me.
I love this game so much 😍
I love this comment!
Any idea why the PS3 European region 2 version says Special edition on the back and the USA doesn't!!! Anyone know if there is any difference or added content in the European version?
El Google serchio
This game was a grind fest and I loved it .
I remember my uncle calling this game enchanted butt
And now I will refer to it the same way lol
Absolutely epic 🤣😂
I just beat this game tonight. Never heard of it before this year. What a goofy, fun experience! The ridiculous voice acting and weird writing really sold this offbeat title for me. This was such an accurate review to my experience with it! Nice to hear some praise as the game fared poorly back in the day
Glad you enjoyed it!
"G4 is bad" gotcha
i did not play much of it but it seem ok. i do like alot of from soft games such as frame gride, kings field and echo night. i did like the style of the game but it seem very slow. also the voice of that one guy was done by liam o'brian who is a great voice actor but yeah that shit was funny
Well i kept getting this game confused with Resonance of Fate for years lol. It`s worth checking out.
Scott's Game Asylum thanks I'll check into them.
@@irunamaestro1364 I have made a review for RoF if you want to check it out.
Scott's Game Asylum does resonance of fate have the same kind of combat style as the Dirge of Cerberus game with Vincent Valentine in it? If so I dominated that game.
@@irunamaestro1364 not really, it's ATB just like final fantasy but with more freedom of movement
Did u unlock omega?
I played this game about a year and a half ago so my memory is fuzzy. I think so.
I swear Troy Baker voices a character in this game?
I loved Enchanted Arms, but the game kept freezing in the sun god japanese temple area.
What did you like better this or resonant of fate?
Resonance
no mention of music?
You watched it. you tell me!
I am playing and this one with Record of Agarest are becoming my faves JRPGs, I am trying FFantasy 12 pt 2 but I am not so motivated with it.
I never got on with Agerest.
Naruto
Sasuke
Naruto
Sasuke
Toyaaaaaa
I made it all the way to the final battle and gave up because I refused to grind on mobs for hours to level up enough to win it 😂 so it’s like 99.5%
I still remember my best friend grabbing this game from a Blockbuster when we were in highschool.
FYI we're still best friends and we still make jokes about this game
This was my first jrpg game and i gotta admit i had fun save for the random encounters that kinda ruined the fun, it was one of my first games on ps3 as well. i shit myself when the game ended killing toya but then i found out there was a secret ending lol
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I've just come here to get to know if I'm going to like the game and when I made a decision that I want to give it a try, I spotted your comment xD
You don't even know how I was pissed, but I'm not going to read it all. Maybe there is something which will surprise, I hope so.
Though, I hope you had great time playing the game. I hope me either gonna have fun.
Cheers!
Yass my moms still got her ps3 version
Devil golems are just elden ring demigods?
"playing perfect dark zero"
LOL
What? Its a good game!!!! 1VS1 ME BRO!!!!!!
(Please don't. I need to keep this internet tough guy persona.)
