Just a heads up that the new circuit board boxes for the halos are taller than the old ones. If you look at 12:14 you’ll have to take the second box off the top of the stack, and glue it vertically to the left side of the first box for them to fit.
Ehhhh, depending on the year of your car, you could just submerge the "chrome" bezel in ZEP de-greaser and it'll strip it to the glossy black plastic. No spray paint needed.
great video .. I am following this and upgrading my headlights as well.. did you use glu for the high beam location as well, where the halo sits inside .. or you just used wiring around it.
Thanks for sharing! You did a really good job with this video. Simple yet detailed instructions, no excess info or video of you working on things, links to products in the description. Really good job man!
Great tutorial. You should make more videos. For the connectors, can I just use ttap on the green wire and connect the red one to it while it's combined?
dude I did this withnboth of GX's and it totatlly changed the look and I love the halos, They are so bright, I also did RBG with one set and that kinda neat. Thanks again man appreciate the intel
Electrical newb… what color is the common ground on the indicator? Did you tie both black ground wires into one wire like you did for the power to the led?
This is the video I've been looking for ! Would you happen to know what those measurements were for the signal? Just an estimate I mean. When I do my headlight resto - I want to change out those signals with something different, a size other than stock. Thanks for the video instruction
I got my lights restored before seeing this video… But my question is will putting them in the oven mess up the restoration done to the lens? Thanks! Also didn’t understand/see what you did with the 24G wire! Thank you for the video! This is something I will absolutely do!!!
So for the bigger light hole, I'm assuming you just have the halo sitting as far back as possible? Any tips on making sure it ends up sitting straight?
I do love the blackout look but I am curious does painting the reflectors hurt the view of how far the light can be seen? I understand adding the Halos will give off more light but just curious about painting the reflectors. Thanks and great video!!!
Painting the reflectors makes no difference on these lights as they are projectors. The projector lens focuses the light and sends it straight out without hutting the reflector.
Yep^ the “reflectors” actually serve no purpose other than looking similar to other heads lights of the early 2000’s era. 99%of the light comes already focused out of the projector lens.
@@TNBShooter360 I tried tapping the amber wires into the DRL harness but the amber light wouldn’t turn on so I just ended up following the same set up in the video
I like how the 80mm halo sits inside the high beam location. Would a smaller halo sit inside the low beam in a similar manner? Do you know what size that might be?
I did this with the 3m kit that comes with a final polishing compound and it was clear before I ever touched with ceramic.. once that coating wears off. Your shits gonna be foggy again.
They are day and night better! Before the headlight was soft and dim, now the projector cutoff is back much sharper, and the light is overall brighter. Reflectors don't do anything for projector headlights.
What is the wire for just holding the Halo? would epoxy not work or is it so you can go back in and change them? was there two holes for the wire or one hole the wrap around the actual light holes couldn't see very well.
Wish you put down a towel or something when you put the light lens down . Find it easier to do the lens restore with them still mounted on the car taped off to minimize chances of hitting the paint with the sand paper.
I’m about to do this but was wondering the same thing. Does the wire not show up when the lights are on? I’ve seen some halos that have a little area for attaching wire that’s hidden. Just curious how much the wire shows on these when the halos are on?
How does the ceramic coating hold up after time? I haven't had any luck with other lens kits (not ceramic), they usually last about 6 months then start to loose the clearness or crack.
Expensive liquid ceramic tends to last a few years and car manufacturers now put it on cars to protect even more than waxing and save them money. Try the safer to apply hyper wax aka ceramic in wax form from chemical guys. Add that to what you do and observe the longer lasting improvement
Put it in a cardboard box lifted on blocks of wood or something and have a hole for the heat gun down low. Run on max for 5 to 10min. You could even place Temps inside or get a temp gun to confirm even heating. Then again a heat gun blowing into a small container is an air fryer basically which heats more evenly.
LED bulbs in GX projectors SUCK with 2 or 3 exceptions. Blues are nearly useless onroad. Stick to HIR halogen swap in low and high, or HID. Frankly for the time of disassembly etc, retrofit is way more important to me than halos. Anyone done some "indirect" accent lighting? Really good video. Definitely want to give this a try on my GX. How long did you let the painted lights off gas before reassembling?
I waited a day before reassembling. Could have waited longer, but I was super careful and avoided scratches
super awesome tutorial man. may try this before shelling out the cash for depo
Thank you! This instruction and parts links is fantastic! Superlative video. Well . . . Except for the music.
Nice work! This is very doable to anyone with patients and some ability. When my 13GX needs it, I may try this myself! Thank you!
How was light output with LED bulbs? Post a vid for us!
Nice 👍🏼 make a video showing how they look with everything on.
Electrical newb… what color is the common ground on the indicator? Did you tie both black ground wires into one wire like you did for the power to the led?
Had one question, where would I need to wire the amber lights? I want both amber and white halos to work.
I wired halo red to drl green and halo yellow to indicator red. Amber now comes on with hazards and turn signals.

It shouldn't affect them. Every other video showing hiw doesn't include cleaning the lens this much.
Good to know!
Dude! Such a good video, made me exited to do mine. Thanks
So for the bigger light hole, I'm assuming you just have the halo sitting as far back as possible? Any tips on making sure it ends up sitting straight?
Got any links to the smaller LED bulbs you used? The description only has the low and high beams LEDs
The smaller lights for the GX are the T10 bulbs. www.teralumeindustries.com/product/t10-w5w-led-globe-white-pair/
Thanks for making one, I see them on IG and am totally jealous
Wouldn't the hot glue melt again once you put them back in the oven? Or is it high temp or something?
awesome video! would have loved to see it installed and on though
just kidding, I see the follow up video on your channel
Nice but the full LED upgrade was much more than $100 total right? Just the Halos and the paint and cleanup you meant right?
Yeah the LED upgrade is extra. But you can do the whole upgrade with your current bulbs and still have great results for less than $100
Nice! Going to follow this for my build. Could you share a link to the songs used ? Tried searching by the name in description and no luck
Sorry but where are links to the LEDs you used besides the high beam/low beam?
Great vid! What size replacement gasket did you use?

The melted reflector piece on the inside of the housing, did you replace it with a new one? If you did is there a link to that part?
On the 2008 eu mk 2.5 focus this is a pain in the ass to do
Just got everything to try this out. Do you have a wiring diagram if you were to use both white and amber on the halos?
did you figure out the wiring?

I'll have to post something now! Thanks!
Why only 2 videos so far?@@mykeesgx
So now my daytime running lights dont turn on after connecting the halos to green wire. Any ideas?
I've heard that the sandpaper/buffing method is only a temporary fix to oxidized light cases. Is that your experience?
Going to give this a try. Thanks for the detailed video.
This is awesome. Thanks dude
How much of the factory gasket do you recommend clearing out? Should I work on getting it all? Or just the excessive goopy parts? Thank you.
I have a LC200. Do you think process is similar? I also need to add projectors so my project would be more in depth
Should be a similar process! I'm not an expert at adding projectors, but I know it can be tough to get them aimed correctly.
How do you measure out what size halos would fit best? I have a 2019 beetle and would appreciate the help
Do you only sand the exterior surface of the lens? You don't sand the inside surface?
I did this with the 3m kit that comes with a final polishing compound and it was clear before I ever touched with ceramic.. once that coating wears off. Your shits gonna be foggy again.
They have soap that keeps the ceramic coat on it or restores it. So as long as they wash the car, it should stay clear

is there an other way to melt the glue instead of oven?
Use a blow dryer..
Love the video. Curious, would a 100mm halo fit well around the high beam?
I've seen some people use 100mm, but I believe it hits the lens ever so slightly...so I opted for two 80mm
I Might try the 95mm then
How did you seal the hole for the wires for halos?
Is the wire that holds the halo visible? Or does it block light?
What is the wire for just holding the Halo? would epoxy not work or is it so you can go back in and change them? was there two holes for the wire or one hole the wrap around the actual light holes couldn't see very well.

The link you put for the halos does the 80mm fit both high beam and low beam or did you buy 2 different sizes ?
I did 80mm for both. One sits outside, one sits inside the bezel
tks for that video!!!
How are these holding up? The halos have some pretty poor reviews regarding life-span. Had any issues?
They've been solid for 7 months now, no issues. Hopefully they'll be good for a long time to come!

You’ve already went over the $100 budget
demonstration with lights on?
How’d you secure the wires to the halos? The wire goes over the halo??
Yeah the wire goes around the halo, through the plastic and the ends twisted tight in the back.

I wouldn't touch the inside of the lens.

Could you use a heat gun instead of putting in the over?
Very possibly! You would need to make sure you heat evenly before you start prying, as you might crack the lens if the sealant isn't fully soft.

It doesn't needed. Ceramic clear coating makes it crystal clear.

It is indeed! I think most headlights are sealed this way, so would probably work for most vehicles.
Where does the 2 yellow wires connect to?
They would connect to the green wire if you opt to run Amber on the halo. Otherwise they should be unused.
