  • We all have big ideas but there are very few that we act on and which go on to flourish. Melina shares the moment she had her own big idea - to start a social enterprise to address the under representation of women in scientific careers. She reflects on the ups and downs of her journey and highlights the three factors that have been critical to her idea flourishing and how these same three factors can be applied to any idea. Dr Melina Georgousakis is a research scientist, a social entrepreneur and a champion for an inclusive health and medical research sector. Her PhD developed novel vaccine technologies and she is now the Research and Policy Manager at the Bupa Health Foundation, one of Australia’s largest corporate charities dedicated to health. Melina is the Founder of Franklin Women- a community of women working in health and medical research in Australia. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
