This AG1 is great I replaced my bad green with healthy greens😜
One thing I was thinking to do with the concrete mixer was turning into essentially a off-road mobile shop and maybe add a few fold-out cots for when you guys do those multi-day recoveries like big iron
A blue Math Rock growler
@chrissperling9148 You clearly have internet to drop this comment so research first lol. Yall are ridiculous to leave hurtful comment's. Also he is only offering not making anyone buy. Have a blessed and humble day sir. If you are rude to folks who make your food in restaurants I hope they haven't spit in your food 😂
Perfect platform for a travel trailer add on. Create an ultimate overlander .
I'm pretty sure I was one of the last people to drive this truck professionally and my name might even be in that log book. It's had that sticky throttle for as long as I've known it and you're not the first person it has tried to kill. Just be glad you don't have to pour flat work with it. I love seeing someone else do what I dreamed of every day when I drove mixers.
What's up with all the random wheels?
@@waynesworlds pusher and tag axles for when you get loaded. Distributes the weight over all the axles so you don’t tear the road up
@@waynesworlds They're for different things so they are different sizes. The fronts are wide singles then the duals and the tag/pusher axles are all different sizes/offsets from the factory so they are not interchangeable. Most heavy duty trucks have different wheels on the drive verses steer axles even if they look similar.
You guys have totally different mixer trucks down there than what we have in Canada. I always found those trucks very interesting looking. Rear mounted engines and front discharge blows my mind. Lol
@@mattmorris8482 I’m assuming the single wheel axles in front of the drives are what we call SPIF axles? Basically drop axles that also steer? It’s a new law up here that they have to be computer controlled and drop when a load is applied. As drivers we are not allowed to manually override them anymore. (No cab controls at all)
As a current ready mix driver I’ve always wanted to see the full potential of these trucks and the breaking point thanks for the video hahaha
I PERSONALLY BEEN AROUND THESE SAME TRUCKS ALL MY LIFE I SEEN THESE STRIPPED DOWN TO THE FRAMES REBUIT FROM THE GROUND UP PLUS POURED CONCRETE ALL MY LIFE AND IT AMAZING HOW MUCH THEY CAN GO THROUGH TO DELIVER IT TO THE CONSTRUCTION SITE YOU GET THEM STUCK AND THE NEXT ONE WILL PULL THEM OUT WITH A 10 INCH STRAP GODSPEED
I personally would love to see this become a twin boom rotator. I feel like it would help to do something more like the HETT with it where, instead of a bunch of tag axles that don't help when you start getting high-centered, you have more drive axles in the middle.
Imagine hiking in the mountains and suddently see a mixer fly past you. Yes, thats dave.
Best comment all I seen all week thank you!
Backwards...
@@emanuel290 going down the hill backwards was intennnse brotherrr, wanthnit?
😂😂😂 Yea, That would be hilarious!!!
Your comment just made me laugh my butt off.
Thanks
Lol
I have operated one of these for the last 19yrs. It’s amazing what these machines are capable of!!! Can’t wait to see what you do with it!! 😊
It was definitely cool, but when he was driving with the barrel stopped :(
@@Justin-wf5nr things only a mixer driver would notice! 😆
Take a moment to appreciate HeavyD's driving skills.
Should be an Off Road RV! With a big balcony on the back! You guys can use it to stay there while doing long recoveries!
Put a log cabin on it.
Dave’s face while sliding backwards is priceless
Look at his 👀eyes, like two Chinese spy balloons....👀
@@MacGyver2154 LMAO!
That and the seatbelt not on. Lol
Only someone that's done it can truly understand how scared he was.
The near heart attack were my thoughts
Thought this was gonna be the last HeavyD Special when Dave started taking the world heaviest toboggan ride backwards down the hill
This needs to be the most over the top post apocalyptic overlanding machine ever made. Make it be able to be completely off grid and self sustaining for 3-6 months at a time and able to handle any terrain thrown at it
Like with solar power and the ability to suck up and clean water from any source
Yes Exactly jaynen, it's own water filtration, solar and wind capable with a redarc power management system, built in water heater, climate control. You know, everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink
Whistling diesel vibes anyone?
that was exactly my thought.
@@totensiebush yup, exactly.
Dave's grin after violently sliding down the hill was hilarious. He knew it was a terrible idea and could've ended badly but after everything was okay he just laughed it off as he does
As any Man should do after any situation like this...
@@justinblanton6882 absolutely that's what gets your serenading pumping and once you're safe it was no longer scary, just pure amusement
I've been in the recovery busy for 24 years , you guys get into some very interesting situations . I love watching all your guys videos thanks for sharing all your chaos and ingenuity
I drive commercial truck and I got to say I respect you that was unbelievable how you slide down that hill and didn't loose it in the beast, you rule dude.
When it comes to Dave and his crew anything is possible and nothing is stopping these guys
Except for ice & bald tires.. ✔️
No views stop these guys.
Dave, I’ve been watching your videos now for about a month I guess. And I just gotta tell you that you have not only yourself but your whole crew some of the smartest mechanical people ever seen. The machines you get running them how do you pull equipment out of hopeless situation is pretty impressive. So I just wanted to let you know that I am greatly entertained and very impressed. Keep up the amazing work. I also love what you do environmentally as well.
Keep it going,
Charlie
The look on Dave's face when he was sliding backwards and the concentration to keep it straight was hilarious! 🤣
Dave, you keep pushing everything to the limit and that’s why I keep coming back!
here here! Wild
I feel comfortable inside this comment, surrounded by other chronic push-all-the-buttoners.
Definitely needs to be an off road attraction RV. Whether it's at Monster Jam Events or some other off road business. This would be amazing!
Dave was like every little kid asking themselves “I wonder what would happen if…” But didn’t just stop there. He went out and actually tried it. He’s the shining example what you can do when you put yourself into the mindset of a child. Can you get hurt? Can something break? Absolutely! But what child thinks about that or worries about it?
The only difference between men and boys is the price of the toys.
Can't wait to see the rig once you complete the transformation into a real off road machine 🙌
Im very excited for this one because I Drive Front discharge mixer for a living, im kinda excited to see what ya do with it! I can say myself ive done and been some crazy places in a mixer, some of it would have ya passing ✏️ out your back door for weeks! Doing pole work on powerlines where its so steep they steel cable you to the front and rear pins and pull you up with a D9 at 80,000 lbs , and lower ya back down. Filling helicopters off the side of a cliff at ski resorts, crawling down insane roads off 2000 ft drop to pour the base & pillars for huge bridges. The lists go on and on. I say Wrecker or Earthroamer would be cool or combo earthroaming wrecker! Tow and camp . Alot of options !
This is the content I come for. Please make it an overland vehicle.
That would be an awesome idea.
Would be a cool overland vehicle but the cab sucks maybe he can swap that.
@@j_rainsgoat3929 true, but it might be douable
5:10 absolutely terrifying when that happens. You did a good job keeping it straight there Dave.
I would personally turn it in to a expedition camper 😊
I’m not even through with the video yet and I’m laughing with tears streaming down my face. Dave’s face when doing the slip n slide. Priceless. Lol. Best video EVER! Ohhh and the AG commercial was too too funny!!
The dedication of that running camera man is 👌👌
Shout out to all camera men. It's a cold thankless job.
I have to admit...I was one of your biggest "haters" originally...then I watched your video of all the shops you have been through and everything you have done to get here...now I'm a solid "fanboy". Love this channel....can't wait to see what you do with this thing! I've had a lot of fun up there in Jeeps, never would have even fathomed taking a rig that size up there!! Ha ha ha ha.
If this truck is at off-road capable with bald tires and not being raised at all. I cannot wait to see how capable it is with good tires and being raised a little bit and better suspension. It sounds like a crazy idea to make a off-road truck out of one of these but it looks like it's going to work.
How Dave is still alive is totally beyond me.
😂😂
By the grace of God
Wht🤭
I drove mixer truck for 25 years in Seattle and what you did with that mixer would have been a blast to do with mine. Great video. I say drove because I'm retired now. Keep-em coming boss!
CANNOT wait to see what you guys do with this!! A badass service truck with a crane or offroad party bus would be sick!
make a rock crawler bar!
imagine turning this into an insane off road wrecker?
The only thing in the way of that vehicle being a monster recovery machine is the engine location. I've never actually looked at the underpinnings of one of those chassis. If it's possible to turn the transfer case around, it might be possible to mount the engine/trans right behind the cab and in between the frame rails. I'd sure like to be in on this build if that's what he decides to do!
Matt from off road recovery would approve lol
But he has one already
Yes
Crane
I drove mixer for 20 years..always wondered what it would look like lifted even higher. You definitely would have to take drum off it would be to top heavy. People don't realize there's only about 20 bolts and gravity holding that drum on. Huge fan.
Imagine showing up to a kick back with jeeps, rzrs, can ams, etc and dave shows up in a concrete truck 🤣
I think it would make a great recovery vehicle. Looks like you had a blast!
That would be a fun time. I drive a boom truck and get in some pretty hairy situations that a truck that size should never be in. I think an off road truck of this caliber would be awesome. Keep up the awesome content!
Rear engine Oshkosh platforms have been used as airport fire engines, the concrete trucks like you see here, and as snowblower platforms with the rear engine driving the chassis, and a large mid-engine driving the blower.
I'm impressed by the capabilities of this thing stock with such tires. That's an amazing platform for a big off-road adventure vehicle. Maybe turn it into a big RV like some suggested?
I get doing it for cool project, but if hes trying to make a profit its going to cost a lot of money to turn this into something cool. So if he only puts 10k into it, it's still about the same profit if he were to sell now. But hey I'm all for a cool project for a projects sake, plus the TH-cam content will be far more profitable than the machine ever will be.
Hey Skeeter, great to see you!
I've been saying for 20years that one of these things would kill off road with a little work. Finally someone who shares the dream
You guys did the most creative Athletic Greens commercial on the internet! LOL Btw, I'm almost more impressed with the power of Dave's Ram than the mixer!
I have to say: Your commercials are amazing. They are so actually fun to watch.
I hope your sponsors are just as happy :D
I’d love to see this thing modded and added to the recovery fleet
love if it was a roll back
Dave actually looked a little scared there 😂
Haha I definitely thought I was going down with the ship for a second there 😅
@@HeavyDSparks Ya know 🙄
That's a butt tightener right there. Walked on yer tip toes for awhile huh? 😆 love it!
@@HeavyDSparks oh, it was more than a second, that look on your face screamed "Am I actually going to jump out of a perfectly good mixer truck? Yes, yes I am!" 😅
@@HeavyDSparks I'm glad you didn't Dave your a awesome guy. Be a sad day for sure I really want to Mention you helping out Brent at Cerro Gordo was Awesome seriously. Shows how good you and your crew are. I have been watching your shows since the Discovery Days. I live in Reno, Nevada It was cool that you did a recovery close to here as well I've been meaning to go to Cerro Gordo to visit the place and meet Brent he REALLY needed your help!
Big offroad workshop, support vehicle, something for help you in middle of nowhere. Welding machine, air compresor, spotlights, maybe small crane.
Workplace for quick repairs .... and support you guys, microwave, fridge, etc... small things can help very much. Awersome video!
¿Abaout?
First time I've ever seen Dave look "a little bit worried". Great video.
That l👀k was a 💩your pants l👀k.
In your last video I saw how much the BDR was going for and thought “oh damn”. Watching this video and seeing how you guys only used ONE rope to get the mixer unstuck and thought “OHH DAMN!”. Now I’m thinking you aren’t charging enough for them 😂 The strength and durability is UNREAL.
I just love seeing the RAM pull that big ass machine around, and laughed pretty loudly when Dave yelled "RAM! RAM!" with his fists in the air.
If you stop the barrel from spinning you do get some more power out of it. Also the dash panel is factory with the locker on it so someone may have bought it without the option. Cut the tag and pusher axles off and it will do alot better.
This needs to be a ridiculous adventure RV.
DSparks this awesome to see a big Concrete mixer go off road, love the content you guys make and you guys are hilarious 😂 keep up the excellent work 👍👍👍👍
I feel like he's gonna make this a wrecker and show up at Matt's off road wrecker Olympics or whatever it is
I would love to see you turn this into a half track
The last part of the video when the ram is helping the mixer truck up the hill, belongs in a ram truck commercial
Dave really bought this to mix his drinks 😂
Dave is like a 2 year child lol This is hillarious the fun Dave comes up woth.
I appreciate the fact you were able to overcome the natural habit of leaving your foot on the break. Not an easy task going forward let alone going backwards.
It would be super cool to turn it into an extreme snowmobile hauling machine! Sled deck with 8 -10 sleds and see how far into the back country you can get with it!
Once he fixes the diff lockers and gets new tires I'm sure it'll make it no prob
This is epic and gnarly at the same time....
I love the editor... the 'lost but not forgotten' at 8:10 and that PSA warning during the sponsor section. Killin me.
what about the super mario yahooo at 13:30-13:35 ish? :D
What a crazy and unique project! I love it!
I have never seen a truck bend so much in my life! 😂
I was sure it was going to snap!
You're just missing your Wild Bill hat 😂👍
you should see them when they have 36k pounds of concrete on them looks like a slinky going down the road lol
@@levyconcrete I've never driven a mixer truck but I have driven a rigid 6 wheel tanker with a rear steering axle that you couldn't lock, that thing was fishtailing all over the place! I hated it! 😂
Good to know that I should look for mixer trucks as my post apocalypse vehicle.
I remember going to the dump on the winter days and sliding on ice in a fully loaded garbage truck lol definitely scary
The Differential Lock might be on all the time. The Tags and Pushers are for weight distribution.
Now that's how you drive a mixer some of the best entertainment I've seen in awhile absolutely awesome guys thank you for the good laughs and thoughts
Impressive to see the ram pull it out going uphill
The look on Heavy D's face priceless 😁😁 4:34 to 5:45
Reminds me of Cleetus' face when he went for a ride in Finnigan's jet boat.
Having never seen one of these trucks before, over here in Oz, I can tell you that that axle configuration, as well as the mixer facing the "wrong" way; it's really doing my head in, right now🤓🤓. But what a buy!
I'm pretty impressed. Never thought they'd go thru stuff like this.
We run this style truck and we have put the axles on the ground and theyll pull them selfs out but we run a offroad super single on our drive axles
@@levyconcrete That's crazy...
My suggestion Dave is turn it into a mobile swimming pool complete with water slide, tiki bar etc... and take it to Burning Man, king of the hammers and so on! The thought of Allen and the guys in their bathing suits hitting the water slide just moves mountains! Lol
Thank you guys for yet another entertaining video. I am able to have a good laugh at your craziness. Today is 3 months since my Brother's Death, & he enjoyed watching the Diesel Brothers. So not only do I enjoy your crazy & entertaining content, I get to think of my Brother too.
Thanks guys
From Me in SA 🇿🇦
That tag axle just doing its own thing the entire time 😂
you just know brent is dreaming up another job for dave before he changes the mixer🤣
put a swinging hot tub on it 🤣
Bud finally got his burnout!
1 wheel wonder.
now THIS is good content
I’m a truck box for the company that he bought that mixer from. I got to tell you those front discharge. Ready Mix trucks are tanks. They are meant to do that and they get put to good use like this every single day. Especially with four seasons and extreme winter and extreme heat. These mixers are reliable and bad ass.
I think my favorite part about this is the company name on the side of the truck. I mean, LeGrand Johnson? I guess you need one of those to drive this truck under these conditions!
And to think we thought the heavy "D" stood for Dave.
Why haven't I put that together? They are a supplier I use and I never gave it a thought.
🥒
Well I see why you wore your brown pants!
Heavy D you're a sick maniac bringing that thing in such circumstances, Love it!
Lower the cab and put the driver between the frame rails so you can put ramps in the front. Make it so you can raise and lower the cab. Then, you could make the deck serve multiple purposes like recoveries to slide on rv or tour rig or helipad.
Dave's the type of guy to take a train off road
Sorry ,Mr Henri Nyberg, John Rackham of AEC Hardy Motors of Southall Middlesex UK, did just that!!! in 1932-33, with the blessing of AEC,s Chairman Mr Charles Cleaver, . Result of their blue sky thinking is the Colonial Road Train, an 8x8 Tractor with steering on the outer axles, Westinghouse airbrakes on the inner axles, coupled to three eight wheel self tracking bogie trailers built by Roger Dysons of Liverpool. A real achievement on the part of AEC in designing building and testing such a radical form of cargo transportation during the depressions early years . Three Road Trains were built , one exported to Russia, the other two ordered by the UK Government and sent to Australia replacing camel trains supplying towns , sheep stations in and around the port of Darwin. On less than one hundred fifty ponies, its ability to haul supplies to said remote towns in excess of forty five tons over the roughest of camel tracks is altogether remarkable. An 8x8 AEC Colonial Tractor is preserved in Australia , rebuilt to full working order together with one of the Dyson Trailers .
Totally awesome and so awesome to see the Ram pulling that huge truck!
That looks of utter terror on your face as that truck went backwards down that icy road. I was wondering if there was going to be a follow up or not with this truck. Glad you made it down safely
watching the mega cab get pulled back like a yoyo is absolutely crazy!!!!!
Rule #1- Never drive a mixer with the drum stopped.
Drum was like half full of dried concrete, probably wouldn't be wise to spin it.
I didn't see that part.
Rule #2- Never drive a mixer with dry concrete in it.
Hello when I was a kid I would push matchbox cars and watch the shocks go up and over bumps watching your video and that cement truck with all the axles going up and down was neat as heck, good old memories brought back to life, thank you.
I used to drive these trucks. Lockers were optional equipment. They are very capable on rough jobsites and deep snow, but once you spun the tires in deep sand you were done! Very high center of gravity when loaded too. I always wanted to loose the drum and move the engine/trans up over the drive axles, add a huge winch on the back and use it to plow the driveway :)
Add something like a railroad style rotary snowplow to the front. Snow no longer a problem on those winter mountain recoveries...
i love how the truck was just rolling backwards end of intro!😂😂
Love that picture of the RAM pulling the mixer up the hill.
I have no idea how i came across your channel a couple days ago but since then ive watched a few videos and was really entertained. Subbing!
I admire the fact that you don’t tear things up like an idiot. Destroying things isn’t cool. Great channel!, look forward to seeing what you guys come up with 😎😎
That hill descent control 👌
Loved the look on your face when it finally stopped at the end of the hill it was priceless...
WOW 12 wheeler n concrete truck crazy great video thanks Dave Sparks and company
I drive one everyday for work! They're badass off-road vehicles!! I've took mine through some super sketchy spots and came out pretty easy. Osh Kosh makes great trucks.
I once toboggan'd a 24K GVW 16' flatbed down an icy drive, and it was absolutely terrifying.
I can't even imagine doing it in that mixer BACKWARDS
DAVE ALWAYS OFF ROAD KEEP YOU TAGS UP REPEAT UP . . NO LOCKERS YOUR COMPROMISED , BIG TIME
Heavy D ! key words CONCRETE mixer !
FRONT discharged mixer ! You know your wording ! Congratulations the Ready-Mix industry approves now party on !!!
