    Like the wheels/tires - we went with Yokohama Golander LT GO16 X-AT on our 2022 DMAX LSU

      Hi, How do you find those tyres on normal touring noise and also on wet condition stability?I am planning to install 265/70/R17 on MUX soon!

    Heavy Dmax SX Spacecab chassis 4x4 tourer here with canvas canopy but with alloy load bearing roof. GVM upgrade from Lovells of 3600kg and travel GVM 3200kg and GCM 7000kg. Nice work on your build. Doesn't all the fruit add up re weight hey. Surprising but expected thus pre first registration GVM/GCM upgrade on my MY18..

      Hey mate! Your rig sounds pretty sweet. And yes.. it definitely adds up quickly for sure. Thats a decent GVM upgrade you were able to get though - nice! Thanks so much for checking the video out :)

    Hey guys looking good. One question from someone new to the canopy game. Why chassis mount over tray mount?

    • @BorderlandExplorers
      @BorderlandExplorers  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mate so sorry for the slow reply! There were a few things about the chassis mount that we really liked over a seperate tray and canopy: the flush floor is really good - having a flat bench surface and not having to build up the floor for drawers, fridges etc. The total weight including the rear wall accessories (jerry can holder, ladder and wheel holder) was 350kg. And the opening height was also designed to fit a larger fridge (130L) which we were very keen to have for full time touring. Plus we just liked how it looked as well :)

    Only one spare tyre. Are you finding that one is enough? What's your experience?

    • @BorderlandExplorers
      @BorderlandExplorers  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I guess it comes down to a bit of luck, and your own risk tolerance as to whether 1 is enough. We still have the option to mount a second one in the factory underbody spot if we wanted we to.
      We did a lap of Aus 2 years ago with only one spare and we were fine. But I know anything can happen out there!
      If we did anything super remote I.e. Canning Stock Route etc, I’d be running 2 😀

      @@BorderlandExplorers Thanks for the response! A couple more questions if I can. Did you install a long range fuel tank on the DMax and how are you finding the MRT canopy? I'm looking at the exact canopy for my Ford Ranger. Any advice on the canopy and it's fit out, the good, bad and ugly, would be most appreciated. Great videos! Keep them coming!

      @BorderlandExplorers  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@OSullivanbeare No worries! :). We haven't installed a long range tank just yet, mainly because of budget in the end (and a little bit of trying to keep the weight in check). We are getting by with the factory tank at this stage - I think the main downside for us is the inconvenience needing to fill the 74L factory tank up so frequently with the amount of driving we do (rather than feeling super limited with where we can travel to - we do want to do some longer desert crossings in the future though, and i think we'd probably need one for that). In short - we get by, but it would be really nice to have one.
      The MRT Canopy hasn't missed a beat. We're really impressed with the build quality and it's features. And we've put it through some hell in the last 3 months of our trip. The most we have had to do to it is literally just tighten a screw after heavy corrugations. So we are pretty stoked with it. Dust and water seals are really good too (tested on the PDR to Cape York haha).

      ps - can i ask how you did the stickers/graphics?

    • @BorderlandExplorers
      @BorderlandExplorers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I reckon it would yeah! We noticed a massive braking improvement after Pedders did ours. It’s also so good having discs on the rear when it comes to dirt and mud etc - it just doesn’t collect the way it does with drums.
      The dmax definitely feels like it’s going to stop when you really need it to

    • @BorderlandExplorers
      @BorderlandExplorers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We designed the layout on Adobe illustrator then sent it to a Signarama to print on vinyl and install for us.
      But they can do the design for you too I’d say. We had the grey logos printed onto the same piece as the black background strips. I.e. all one piece rather than lay the grey logos on top of the back background separately :)
