    Hi, Roman. My comment is: book the interview. So you don’t have customers around. Give some heads-up to the dealer so things do not become awkward. There are hundreds of channels dedicated to only the rv’ing world. The more time and space you have to shoot details and the more setting up of the shooting is “scripted” you’ll get an in-depth, calm and detailed review. In this trade, depth is the name of the game. My “group” is 250 people strong. We follow the specialists. You can become one of them. Just take it easy. Details are the key. Lots of ideas and knowledge are always welcome. Like the type of heating, the use of the various “smart fans” and their functions, stowage, sink depth, AC or heat pumps capabilities, energy consumption, solar capacity, inverters, undercarriage, interior materials, type of tanks, winterizing systems, spares, connections, connectivity, electrical systems, towing equipment, towing interface and so many other things we all-timers or first owners need to know. This goes with my kindest regards. And I mean it from the very first second. I interview people for a living for a couple of big media companies and it works.

      @TFLoffroad  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Carlos, Roman says thanks for the great advice. We’d love to do it this way but the TH-cam business model does not support this type of journalism. This video will barely pay for the gas and time it took to drive to the RV show let alone pay for the videographer, his equipment ( an iPhone ) and the computer to edit the video on. We have to produce continuous video content to pay for the these type of walk around videos. There’s no giant media corporation to pay the bills. We literally eat what we shoot. 😉

    Airstreams are awesome! For us the International was the sweet spot. We have a 2020 International 30RB twin. We live northwest of Chicago and have traveled to the east coast, down to Florida and as far west as Yellowstone. They tow fantastically well. We chose a 2020 Ram 2500 Limited MegaCab with the 6.4 Hemi, 4.10 rear end and air suspension as our tow vehicle. Absolute love our set up. Note: you do not NEED a diesel to tow anything that Airstream makes. And considering the price of diesel fuel nowadays a gasser makes more and more sense. Great video guys!!!

      That's funny, because anyone I have ever talked to over the last 20 years with an airstream always pisses and moans when they get into cold weather because it takes 25 towels every day to dry up the condensation. I guess your experience is different though with that aluminum shell and those single pane windows.

    Roman, TFL should consider going to the Airstream International Rally this June 24-30 in Rock Springs, WY. We attended the 2022 Rally in Fryeburg, ME where over 900 Airstreams showed up including a section of vintage trailers. Of course every trailer has a tow vehicle so you’ll get a chance ask how they like them. Last year the guy with a Semi-chassis and an Airstream grafted to the frame showed up. The Rock Springs Rally will be at the Sweetwater Event Complex and is already sold out! We won’t be able to make it unfortunately.

    Almost bought a Basecamp 16X version of these but went with a NuCamp T@B 400 Boondock instead. Better layout/usable space plus a dedicated bed and dinette in my opinion but once we upgrade we will be going to a larger Airstream likely a 27FB.

    I have owned three Airstreams (to include two Basecamps and one limited edition International (Victrinox)), a Winnebago Revel (van) and a rooftop tent (on a 2020 Defender). I now own a Jeep and a good ground tent. IMO, the simpler, the better. The Jeep is plenty capable and requires a lot less (cheaper) maintenance; the tent leaks less and is also more cost-effective.

    Buy a Lance trailer. Just as well built, more room, less expensive(still expensive), way more storage, and it is not an icebox in the winter or an oven in the summer. I'm always intrigued by the basecamp models, but then you see what it takes to turn it into four beds. I'm always surprised by that. Plus the lack of family oriented designs with no bunk house type designs. I've been spending about the last year trying to find something that'd work for us, but giving tweens/teens a bit of room seems to be something lost since I was a kid (80s). Everything geared for just two people mostly. Also a lot of lack of solar/battery would have thought we were further along.

  • @erickphillips8507
    @erickphillips8507 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a 2023 Basecamp 20x and a couple comments. I could have given a better tour. Lol. The bed is a huge pain in the rear to setup so you will find most people just leave it made into a bed. We have started rolling up our foam mattress toward the rear hatch) yes you need it the cushions suck) and use the front table. My wife and I sleep side by side and the large bed is awesome. That rear hatch is a game changer. I pull it with a 1/2 ton Silverado and you don’t even know it’s back there. It has 300w of solar and I upgraded to lithium batteries. That REI version is the 16 version and they basically just added a bunch of crap on the inside and you get some outdoor accessories for a smaller trailer. I don’t think they are selling much of them. Are they expensive, yep. But Airstreams have awesome resale and the Basecamps are their entry trailer.

    Awesome coverage guys! Too bad the sales rep was woefully under equipped to answer your questions. Given the price of these trailers and years in the game i would have hoped for a much more refined layout/ setup. One would have hoped the off road series might have had more than just off road tyres and suspension. A plethora of off road caravans present in the market with set ups far more robust and provided available technical specs/ expectations. Seems like a very basic requirement overlooked, however like the entry models they can get better with reviews and feedback. Great video!

Another thing you gotta factor in is the bugs and all kinds of creatures in that area along with summer hot days and monsoon season too. And from my understanding location is another thing gotta know which is the best figure out where you want to be in the Phoenix area cause there some neighborhoods where it might good and some are just bad. Come on dude. Everyone knows that Airstreams are built in the Buckeye State. Only junk gets built in Indiana. NuCamps are also built in Ohio about a haul hour from me. They are also extremely well built. Best thing about this showing was the kool Pink Floyd music in the background.

    Love the airstream coverage, too bad you couldn’t find a different rep to demonstrate the trailers. Not only did he have a hard time answering simple questions, I thought that first bed set up was going to take half the video. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Still, great coverage guys!! I like the travel trailer videos too!

      All true, but I cut him some slack since he did mention it was a family company, and one of the things they tend to lack are those people specially trained to be their spokesman. They're a lot smoother with their delivery than uncle Bob.

    I’ve owned several campers in the last 40 years and although I appreciate the attention to detail; having owned one, I just can’t see the price point. I actually feel there are a few more brands out there with same(some better) quality but at a much lower price point. Of course I also understand the prestige of the name that comes with it.
    PS: should be used as “soft” off roader.

      Airstream’s product life cycle is more than the measly ten years of other cookie cutter trailers. I looked at a comparable $40k trailer…, but at a ten year life cycle…; I opted for a $64k Airstream with a the durability of a lifetime. When you look at it in this way…, it becomes an easy choice and a better value.

    Airstream is almost a religion for some people. They have groups that travel for months together., which is nice because many of the groups have people that will be last and help any breakdowns. The Airstreams also have numbers and there is a group that are constantly striving for the lowest number older rig. I have seen multiple Airstream groups in RV parks in Airstreams that also had the upside down pineapple so google that to see if you want to party with them. Nice video Roman and Alex. Shows how far behind the RV segment is from the Yacht segment for top of the line.

    Q: “How much does it weigh?”
    A: “4300 lbs.”
    Q: “Is that dry or wet?”
    A: “That’s wet. That’s fully loaded.”
    !BZZZT! wrong answer. When Alex zoomed in you can clearly see that 4300 lbs is DRY WEIGHT. Then add hundreds of pounds on top of that for water, propane, food, dishes, clothes, gear, etc. 5,000 lbs at least.

    An "off-road" trailer should not come with a standard ball hitch. All they did is put a lift on a trailer that's really only suited for pavement and well maintained dirt roads. No off grid A/C means you'll need a nasty generator in the summer, and putting that bed together every night--what a pain. I doubt this thing is built to really handle anything that could be remotely called off road, except a dirt road to the closes in camping sites. Much more rugged trailers available with better bed setups for the money.

He has no clue of the demographics which range for the off road folks he mentioned to regular RVers like us who wanted the quality, the ability to bring kayaks and mountain bikes and easily tow and store. Oh and a king sized bed.
